Short treks in Nepal

Short treks are an excellent option for visitors to Nepal who are keen to experience the Himalayas but who may not have a lot of time to spend trekking. Below you will find a variety of hikes that last no longer than 7 days and range across a variety of regions within Nepal. 

Langtang region
This area is known for lower elevations and is easily accessible from Kathmandu. The region is also known for its scenic mountains and monasteries. 

Helambu Trek – 5 days
Not far from Kathmandu, the Helambu area has plenty of trails that will allow trekkers to pick a route that suits them, but the Hemalbu trek, in particular, doesn’t require crazy levels of fitness or experience. 

Langtang Valley Trek – 7 days
The Langtang valley trek is one of the best options if you're looking to see snowcapped mountain peaks and glaciers. Only 19 km north of Kathmandu, it’s easily accessible!

Annapurna Region
This region is best known for its impressive views, high passes and cosy guesthouses.   

Panchase Trek – 4 days
Beginning with a boat ride across Lake Phewa, this trail is another great Himalayan trek for beginners, and only requires a few hours of walking every day. You'll have plenty of time to explore the Nepalese way of life in the surrounding villages.

The Royal Trek – 4 days
Often used by Nepalese royalty, this trail snakes through the foothills of Annapurna just north of Pokhara Valley and is easily accessible thanks to its proximity to the city. Perfect for trekkers that are looking to escape the crowds and who are craving a more local experience. 

Annapurna Community Eco-Lodge Trek – 5 days
The five-day Poon Hill trek is perfect if you're an experienced trekker, while the Annapurna Community Eco-Lodge Trek is the same length and more achievable for beginners. You’ll still enjoy incredible views, but you can ditch the crowds and the steps.
