To begin, we regret to hear of any miscommunication that may have occurred before the start of your trip, and we hope that this rare instance did not take too much away from your experience with Trafalgar. Our guests' satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us, so please rest assured that this feedback has been shared with our Reservations Department to make sure that the necessary steps are taken to ensure a better experience in the future. Furthermore, as is common at most hotel accommodations, pricing is based on double occupancy; therefore, solo travellers who wish to have a room to themselves are offered the choice to pay a single supplement, which guarantees their privacy. This supplement covers the cost difference between half of a shared double room and a single which naturally costs more. On another point, we note that there were certain aspects of the itinerary that you felt could have been improved upon. Here at Trafalgar, we take our guests’ feedback very seriously, so please be assured that your comments are being given the full attention they deserve to establish what potential improvements we might make going forward with this particular trip. That said, even though our coaches rarely travel for longer than a couple of hours without a visit or photo opportunity, it is sometimes necessary to travel for longer between destinations due to the sheer size of the country. Despite the above, we still hope that you have taken lots of lasting highlights from your time away with us, and that we will have the chance to improve your impression of our guided holidays in the future.

    Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the Costa Rica Eco Adventure guided holiday. We always like to know where we are going right and where we could be making improvements. To begin, we are concerned to hear that you may have found the size of your group to be too large at certain points on this trip. All of our trips and itineraries are designed to comfortably accommodate up to fifty guests at a time, and during peak seasons, we do often operate at full capacity. Nevertheless, we appreciate your concern and have shared this with our Operations Department for their consideration. To continue, we would like to apologize for any discomfort you seem to have experienced whilst on-board the coach; this is something that we will certainly raise with our Transportation Department for their review and to establish what improvements might be made going forward. Furthermore, we regret to read that you did not find the hotels to be conveniently located and we are sorry this had affected your appreciation of the destinations visited. Nonetheless, it's great to read that you enjoyed discovering the beautiful hand-picked destinations on our carefully crafted itinerary, and what's more, it's great to know that it was all in the good company of your dedicated and knowledgeable Travel Director. With that said, we are always striving to make our experiences even better. To begin, we are sorry that you felt not enough time was spent at the iconic sights in the different cities visited on the itinerary. As we try to cater to our guests’ personal style of travelling, we provide a variety of trip styles which allow for different ways to explore these unique destinations. Having that in mind, the European Whirl is one of our ‘Discoveries’ trip style, which focuses more on exploring several countries at a faster pace. Therefore, in order to arrive at all of the destinations and complete the itinerary on time, we have to allocate a specific amount of time at each location. However, we appreciate you sharing your thoughts regarding the pace of the itinerary with us and as a result, we have passed your comments on to our Product Development Team for their consideration going forward.     Hygiene Measures

    We have all adapted to this new world, where it’s imperative for us to take additional hygiene measures. That’s why you can travel with us and be assured that we have put numerous new measures in place to elevate our hygiene standards and protocols. The well-being of our guests and team has always been, and always will be, our primary concern. In this new, fast changing Covid-19 era, we are doing all we can to adapt to new requirements and expectations. Here are some important new steps and procedures that we have implemented to enhance hygiene protocols, to comply with physical distancing requirements by relevant government authorities and to give you the peace of mind when you are travelling during these new times.

    Covid Travel Declaration
    All team members and guests will complete a personal travel declaration before joining their trip. If a guest has tested positive for COVID-19 (or is travelling with someone who has), they will not be able join the trip until cleared as ‘fit for travel’ by a medical professional)

    Upon arrival and prior to joining my trip, I will be able to present one of the following:

    • •Authentic COVID-19 vaccination certificate (electronic or paper showing date and time of vaccination(s) with final dose given at least 14 days before departing for this trip, OR:
    • Verifiable negative test result for COVID-19 (electronic or paper showing date and time of test) taken within 72 hours of this Trafalgar trip departure. For trips in the United Sates, the test must be a PCR test.


    Expertly Trained Travel Directors
    Travel Director training equips them with enhanced hygiene and physical distancing procedures. During your trip, they will operate with a duty of care and monitor the hygiene etiquette of our guests, reacting and advising as needed, to ensure high standards are maintained. Before you travel, we will also keep you well informed about new protocols required in these areas, and ask that you cooperate with and heed the advice and direction of our Travel Directors while on your trip. Our Travel Directors have preventative measures in place to try and ensure your well-being and in the event that any unexpected issues arise on trip, they will activate additional protocols.

    Stringent On-the-Road Protocols
    Our customized luxury coaches are sanitised before the start of your trip and have always been kept to very high standards. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, we have taken additional measures to elevate our hygiene and sanitary practices in accordance with guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and as required, applicable government regulations. Our Driver training provides them with the latest hygiene protocols. They will clean and disinfect all surfaces including handrails, door handles, tables, seats, air-conditioning filters and overhead lockers on a daily basis. All our guests are asked to follow hygiene practices recommended by the World Health Organisation including the thorough and regular washing of hands and sanitising when required. Hand sanitiser is freely available on board for your use throughout the day. Please bring your own washable face mask and gloves with you, and additional hand sanitiser to make you feel comfortable, as these will be required to be worn in public in some countries. Should an unexpected situation arise, additional face masks, rubber gloves, antiviral sprays and wipes will be available for guest distribution on all trips.

    Adapting to the right size groups, based on government distancing requirements, you can rest assured that you will travel with the comfort of your own personal space. Have peace of mind that all of the experiences, hotels and restaurants you’ll enjoy on your trip have been vetted to ensure they adhere to physical distancing and hygiene guidelines.

    As part of The Travel Corporation (TTC), Trafalgar is kept up to date with all government advisories and travel alerts on a daily basis and is continually in touch with all of our partners on the ground in each destination. Also, rest assured that during your trip, our teams work to ensure our supplier partners (hotels, restaurants, museums and other venues) are also applying the same standard to these new hygiene and distancing protocols, to the extent possible.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Can I upgrade to a Single Room?

      If you prefer the privacy of your own room, you can opt for our single supplement. The cost will depend on your trip and can be found in the pricing section of the itinerary. On many of our trips we offer discounts on the standard single supplement. If you’d rather not incur the additional expense, consider our single traveler room share option. We’ll accommodate you with a fellow guest of the same gender, on a twin-bed basis.
    • Do I need insurance/ travel protection?

      Trafalgar recommends that all guests purchase comprehensive Travel Insurance. Certain countries have a requirement for visitors to have valid medical insurance on entry and in Europe you may find that doctor surgeries, dentists and hospitals often require payment in cash prior to providing services. 
      Trafalgar cannot be held responsible for denied entry if a guest is unable to provide details to authorities of insurance or denial of entry for any reason.
    • What are the luggage restrictions?

      Traveling with Trafalgar entitles each guest to travel with one suitcase not exceeding 23kg (50lbs) in weight, with the dimensions of 76cm x 46cm x 25cm (30” x 18” x 10”). Guests may also bring one item of hand luggage that is small and light enough to be carried onto the coach and fit underneath the seat, or in the small overhead compartment above (luggage with adjustable handles and wheels will not fit). 
    • Can I request specific dietary requests?

      We encourage all guests to advise us about any specific dietary needs that they may have (vegetarian, diabetic, gluten free, etc.) and will strive to accommodate these. Where possible, we will endeavor to make arrangements with our suppliers.
      It is important to discuss any special dietary requirements with your Travel Director at the beginning of the trip. However, such requests cannot be guaranteed on every occasion.
    • What are the transport coaches in Europe like?

      Our modern air-conditioned coaches complete with WiFi, have been selected with your comfort in mind. Your Travel Director will introduce the Driver, explain any safety information in detail and familiarize you with all of the features on board. A washroom is fitted for your comfort, and please rest assured that regular stops are made for you to stretch your legs, take refreshments, fill up your water bottles and use the facilities.
    • Who are our travel directors?

      We know that the human touch is what differentiates unforgettable travel experiences from those that are simply ‘good’. Our Travel Directors come from a variety of backgrounds, but they all share a passion for travel and their home countries. These experienced professionals show you what the guidebooks can’t – a true insider’s perspective of each destination. Each Travel Director has been through a bespoke training program, and many have at least five years’ experience under their belt.
    • Tipping and Gratuity Guidelines in Europe?

      Tipping etiquette varies by country, culture and the situation and it is a gesture that shows appreciation for the quality of service that you received.
      When traveling with Trafalgar we have pre-paid certain tips and gratuities for you. Baggage handling at hotels, service charges and tips for hotel wait staff (for included meals) will be taken care of by your Travel Director. There are however a few instances where individual tipping is welcome.
    • Are there age restriction for children?

      At Trafalgar, our younger guests are just as important as our older ones, so we’ve taken care to craft action-packed itineraries that’ll impress children aged five years or older. All children and young people under eighteen years old must however be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for their supervision and welfare.
