For this Best of Portugal tour, you will indeed have the opportunity to enjoy the Douro River. On Day 7, there is an optional experience you can book directly through your Travel Director: the Douro Cruise and Dinner. This leisurely excursion includes a relaxing cruise along the Douro River with a glass of port in hand, where you'll see two medieval UNESCO World Heritage cities and six impressive bridges, including the famous Eiffel bridge. Afterwards, you'll savor a typical Portuguese meal by the river in Porto's Medieval Ribeira Quarter. This optional experience is designed to fit seamlessly into the itinerary, so you won't have to worry about time constraints. If you prefer to make your own arrangements independently upon arrival at the hotel on Day 7, you are free to do so. You may coordinate it with the Travel Director so they can provide guidance and ensure a smooth transition with the schedule.

For solo travelers - a piece of advice: do not share room with another solo traveler for the sake of saving some money. The tour director and driver were excellent but the program could have been better managed. The program priority was on optional trips and included items in the itinerary were brushed over. The two major cities , Lisbon and Porto portion were not done justice to. Just an orientation in the bus did not do justice to the town's. Instead of the winnery tour a historical places tour would have been better. Lisbon also, except for half a monastery ( without the chapel) what did we see? Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before August 8th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after August 8th, 2026, a minimum payment of $200 is required to confirm your booking with Trafalgar. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Trafalgar will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Trafalgar" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
- TourRadar is an authorized Agent of Trafalgar. Please familiarize yourself with the Trafalgar payment, cancellation and refund conditions.
