Experience Takayama's traditional charm, learn Kendo from a master, and visit Kyoto's ancient temples and shrines, including the Golden Pavilion. Discover Tokyo's electric neighborhoods and lively izakayas, sample takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (savory pancakes) in Osaka, and reflect on Hiroshima's somber history. Japan awaits.

What a fantastic experience. Nearly two weeks after the tour and still talking to all my friends, colleagues and family. Trying to explain what an eye opening trip this was. Right from the start we were made to feel welcome and relaxed by the wonderful Anna. Every day was filled with adventures from fascinating places to amazing food. Maybe the only regret I have is only doing the 10 day and not the full 14.

Best time to visit Japan
- Spring 2026
Cherry blossom season transforms Japan into a pink wonderland from March through May as the flowers bloom from south to north. Tours are carefully timed so you can catch the peak blooms at famous temples, castle grounds and gardens. Many places light up the blossoms at night, which extends the magic well into the evening.

Summer is festival season in Japan, and you'll find vibrant celebrations happening all across the country. From Kyoto's famous Gion Festival to smaller local summer festivals, there's always something exciting going on. Tokyo's food scene really comes alive during these months. You can enjoy incredibly fresh sashimi at the morning markets and explore diverse street food options once the sun goes down. The clear weather also means great access to the mountains if you want to hike Mount Fuji.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn turns Japan into something truly special as the maple leaves change to deep reds and golds from September through November. Temple gardens and mountain valleys put on an incredible show, and you'll start seeing seasonal treats like matsutake mushrooms and roasted sweet potatoes at local markets. The temperatures are just right for walking around and taking photos. You won't need to worry about extreme heat or cold, making it perfect for spending long days exploring.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter in Japan has a charm that catches a lot of visitors off guard. The crowds thin out after New Year, and you get to experience a quieter, more local side of the country. Snow-covered temples in Kyoto look almost unreal, and up in the Japanese Alps, towns like Takayama and Shirakawa-go turn into something straight out of a postcard. If you're into skiing or snowboarding, resorts in Nagano and Hokkaido offer some of the best powder snow in the world. One of the real highlights is soaking in an outdoor onsen with snow falling around you - it's the kind of thing you don't forget. The food is hearty too, with hot pots, fresh crab from the Sea of Japan, and warming bowls of ramen everywhere you turn.
