We had a great group where all the kids got along. The guides were accomodating in every way and nothing was ever a hassle. Every question was answered and any problem solved. The places we went gave us a good feeling for Japan with some amazing experiences.

Our guide Megumi were fantastic. She helped navigate everything from the day to day to finding a good place to eat. Favourite activities were everything in Hakone (two days there would have been great!), teamlab Tokyo, arcades in Akihabara (more time there would be ideal), and the charm making in Mirajima. If anything the days were a bit too packed, and kids had a hard time keeping up especially if midday meals were late or missed to stay on schedule. We were generally exhausted by the end of the day and more downtime or restful activities would be better - especially for those under 13. Overall less time in Tokyo and more time in Hakone or Hiroshima would be suggested. The theme park in Kyoto was strange and could be skipped entirely - not worth the stop. I found dealing with TourRadar in advance of the trip frustrating and would not book with them again. Communication wasn’t timely, they were difficult to get answers from, they miscommunicated a few key things, and I would not recommend them.

The trip was at times a bit complicate. You cannot expect that I go sightseeing with all my luggage without bringing it to the hotel first. I cancelled the day-tour for that reason. The tour-guides have been very helpful and flexible in rearranging programs when time allowed to do something else.

A trip to Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi lets families take in Japan's most famous peak while riding the Fuji Panoramic Ropeway. Hakone draws visitors with its distinctive "Pirate Ship" cruise across Lake Ashi and the active volcanic valley of Owakudani where kids can try the local black eggs. The coastal town of Kamakura combines beach time with cultural sites. One TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The Mt. Fuji experience was breathtaking - my kids loved the Pirate Ship ride on Lake Ashi and seeing the volcanic activity at Owakudani."
