What is the weather like in Japan during April?

Japan's April weather brings mild conditions across the country with temperatures between 10-20°C (50-68°F). Major cities like Tokyo and Osaka stay comfortable around 15-19°C during the day while northern regions like Kanazawa keep cooler temperatures. The weather makes it ideal for experiencing cherry blossom season at spots like Maruyama Park in Kyoto or along Tokyo's Sumida River where TourRadar travelers note "the cherry blossom viewing was absolutely breathtaking."

What are the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan during April?

Cherry blossoms create photo opportunities throughout Japan's main cities. In Tokyo visitors flock to Ueno Park and Shinjuku Gyoen while Kyoto draws crowds to the Philosopher's Path Maruyama Park and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Osaka Castle provides another notable viewing spot. Hotels like the Kyoto Granvia offer special sakura packages for travelers. As one TourRadar guest shared: "Visiting Kyoto's temples during sakura season was absolutely magical - the combination of ancient architecture and pink blossoms created unforgettable views."

What festivals and events happen in Japan during April?

The spring festival calendar fills quickly in April. The Takayama Spring Festival brings traditional floats and performances to Gifu Prefecture while the Kamakura Festival celebrates samurai heritage through horseback archery. In Tokyo the Bunkyo Azalea Festival displays over 3,000 blooming bushes at Nezu Shrine. According to a TourRadar review: "The spring festivals we experienced in April were incredible - from traditional performances to food stalls it gave us great insight into Japanese culture."

How crowded are major tourist sites in Japan during April?

April draws peak crowds to Japan's most popular attractions. Sites like Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tokyo's Sensoji Temple see their highest visitor numbers during cherry blossom season. TourRadar travelers suggest "visiting temples early morning or evening to avoid the biggest crowds." Hotels like the Kyoto Granvia provide convenient access to main sites while offering some distance from the busiest areas.

What are the best day trips to take from Tokyo in April?

Day trips from Tokyo open up spring experiences beyond the city. Hakone offers Mt. Fuji views with cherry blossoms while Kamakura combines its Giant Buddha with seasonal flowers. Nikko's historic shrines draw visitors seeking cultural sites. TourRadar travelers highlight "the Hakone area for its perfect combination of mountain views and spring colors." Many tour packages include stays at local accommodations like the Hakone Guesthouse Tsuruya.

How far in advance should I book a Japan tour for April?

April tours in Japan require early planning especially during cherry blossom season. Booking data shows travelers typically reserve 264 days ahead. Popular hotels like the Kyoto Granvia fill up months in advance for spring dates. To secure preferred accommodations and tour spots plan to book 6-8 months before your trip.
