We require two rooms in hotels. What would be the supplemental fee for this?

At this time we are not offering single supplements on any of our Japan itineraries. Due to the spike in tourism and accommodations having limited availability this is not something that we are able to offer. All accommodations will be booked as twin share, if you do not wish to share rooms with the person you have booked with we will have you share with a solo traveler of the same gender.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

In case you decide to cancel, we offer options to switch your travel dates without any change fees if notified in advance.

Are there any additional costs for single occupancy?

A single supplement is currently not available due to limited rooms at our selected accommodations.

Are there any age restrictions for this tour?

We recommend checking the specific age guidelines for our tours, as they may vary.

Can I request a private room for the duration of the trip?

Private rooms are not guaranteed, and sharing accommodations with a same-gender solo traveler may be necessary.

How long does the welcome meeting last on the first day?

The welcome meeting will take approximately 30 minutes and is scheduled for 6 pm on Day 01.

I was told its all hotels but one of the nights says this: RYOKANS/MINSHUKUS: so i wanted to know about that. I also wanted to confirm I will have my own (single) room AND bathroom for every night?

Accommodations for this trip are on Japanese style- ryokans or minshukus (traditional inn/guesthouse) involve sleeping on futons or mattresses on tatami mat floors, with bedding often packed away during the day. Attached bathrooms/toilets will usually be very small and many ryokans will only have shared bathing facilities with certain hours, or times available for booking at reception. A Single Supplement is currently not available for this trip due to limited rooms at our chosen accommodation.

She managed all of our transport arrangements effortlessly. I had never been on a guide tour before and did not know what to expect, but it was an excellent way to experience Japan for the first time. Our guide, while incredibly kind-hearted and helpful, came off as inexperienced and a bit disorganized.He was a bit passive, and as a result some of the members on the tour took advantage of him to the detriment of the rest of the group.People were late, complained a lot, and were not in good enough physical condition to complete activities that were listed in the itinerary, which resulted in some things being omitted or shortened, which was incredibly disappointing.I've been on numerous tours with numerous companies, and I understand accommodating other members of the group is a necessary element of group travel, but some of the people on the trip were so badly behaved/rude/disrespectful that it greatly lowered my opinion of the trip.The guide was unwilling to challenge them on their behavior, and as a result, we all suffered.Show more

  Single supplement is not offered on these trips. A lot of the accommodations that we use are not very big we tend to stick to the quaint/unique hotels to give more of a local experience and they are often not able to accommodate single supplements or will not allow us to hold extra rooms due to high tourism.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before August 19th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after August 19th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Intrepid Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
