Is it possible to make some changes to the itinerary and if possible, what the new budget would be? I'd like the trip to start and end in Tokyo. In Hakone, I'd like to experience an onsen (hot spring). From there, I'd like to go directly to Kyoto to visit the Bamboo Grove and Fushimi Inari Shrine. Then, in Osaka, I'd like to visit Universal Studios, specifically the Mario Bros Land. From there, I'm very interested in going to Okinawa and staying there for three nights. I'd like to visit the Okinawa Pokémon Center, the Churuami Aquarium, Murasaki Mura, and go scuba diving on one of the nearby islands—preferably the most beautiful one. Finally, I'd like the return trip to Tokyo.

Our itineraries are fixed so unfortunately we wouldn't be able to adjust the tour - but your itinerary does sound amazing! Looking at where you are looking to go, I think it would be easiest to do this tour yourselves using Japan's public transport to get yourself to each location - giving you the freedom to go to all of the places you want to go. If you wanted to still join our fixed itinerary tour you can join the 10 Day Japan tour which starts in Tokyo would end in Osaka and includes Hakone and Kyoto. You could find time after the tour finishes in Osaka to do Universal Studios before then heading to Okinawa.

Unfortunately we won't be able to assist with your request as our tours have an 18-59 age policy. As much as we would love to have you on board this tour, we have to follow our guidelines as per our tour requirements, this is to help us better manage group dynamics and ensure the experience meets the expectations of everyone travelling with us.

Do I have the option for single room all by myself? I see the accommodations are only hostels. Please clarify.

Unfortunately, we do not offer room upgrades on our Japan Tour. However, many of our guests have found the variety of room styles to be a unique and enjoyable part of the experience! Twin/double rooms: You'll be paired with someone of the same gender. Multi-share rooms: These will be shared with fellow travelers at the temple in Takayama and the guesthouse in Hakon (again, same gender). Pod-style dormitory (Days 6-8): You'll enjoy a private pod-style bed in a shared room with people of the same gender. If you do wish to have your own room, we suggest considering other tour options that do have a Single Room Upgrade (apart from 1 night in a temple).

How many steps do you walk per average per day on the tour? Would you also let me know if you can accommodate a gluten free and dairy free diet?

This tour requires a reasonable level of fitness due to the amount of walking involved. There will be some days where you will be walking more than approximately 8-10km. Please bring appropriate footwear for this! Due to the nature of cuisine in Japan, strict dietary requirements may be difficult to accommodate in some areas. Many of the broths/stocks which flavour much of Japanese food are not vegetarian/vegan friendly, and many meals contain either meat, fish, or egg elements. We recommend downloading the app "Happy Cow" and asking your tour guide for advice throughout the tour. You may also bring some snacks/supplements with you if necessary, but please note that Japanese customs can be very strict with medication so ensure you double check everything you bring. On the evening of Day 9 there will be a Food Tour in Osaka, due to the food that is purchased it would not be suitable for your dietary requirements. Your guide will work with you to find alternative options.

Is it possible to change the accommodations on this trip? Or is there an identical tour with private rooms? We are a family of 3 adults and would like to have a private room and bathroom - not shared. Everything else about this tour looks amazing.

Unfortunately, we do not offer room upgrades on our Japan Tour. However, many of our guests have found the variety of room styles to be a unique and enjoyable part of the experience! Twin/double rooms: You could decide who shares and who will share (it would be shared with the same gender). Multi-share rooms: These will be shared with fellow travelers at the temple, with a variety of room sizes that can fit 2, 5, or 9 people. Pod-style dormitory (Days 6-8): You'll enjoy a private pod-style bed in room of 12 split by gender.

Not sure how booking a roundtrip works with the 2 fairly separate cities of the tour.

You have two options for this tour; Option 1 - Two Tickets - Fly into Tokyo and fly out of Osaka Option 2 - Bullet Train Back To Tokyo - We offer a Shinkansen (Bullet Train) ticket back to Tokyo and the journey will start from 6am. You can tell your tour guide the time of your flight and they will be able to book you onto the correct train to give you enough time to get to the airport. The cost for this is $275 AUD

I have question regarding food option for vegetarian (i can eat dairy and chicken eggs but no fish, chicken, meat,pork). would there be options or accomodations for it or would i be paying for those as extra.

We do offer vegetarian options for the food that is included as part of the tour. For finding food yourself, I would advise you to use Happy Cow app/website which can help to find restaurants that match your dietary requirements.

Is there a package that includes plane tickets?

We don't have any flight package deals, however, if you check websites such as Skyscanner or Trip.com they are great price comparison sites. I find it useful to either book with them, or, find the airlines offering flights on my preffered travel dates and then check direct on the airline's website.

Is there anyway to give them private rooms? and transportation from Osaka to Tokyo because their flight departs from Narita. In case we can do those changes, what would be the new price?

Unfortunately we don't have any private twin rooms throughout the tour and there would be multishare nights that we can't guarantee their privacy in, for example in Kyoto for 3 nights and 1 night in Takayama for the unique temple stay, all other nights we can ensure they have a twin room.

He led the group calmly, always discreetly checking in that we were all in the right place particularly through the many stations and train rides we took and informing us via WhatsApp of the next days plans. Jordan also gave us recommendations of what to buy and where and other highlights to visit in our free time. This tour is a good balance of organised and free time. You’ll need to purchase most meals on this tour which is good because you get to choose what you eat and how much you spend. Some of the activities such as the Kimono wearing and Kendo lesson I would never have done on my own. It was fun to do it with the group. Thanks Jordan.Show more

Is it possible to change the accommodations on this trip? Or is there an identical tour with private rooms? We are a family of 3 adults and would like to have a private room and bathroom - not shared. Everything else about this tour looks amazing.

  Unfortunately, we do not offer room upgrades on our Japan Tour. However, many of our guests have found the variety of room styles to be a unique and enjoyable part of the experience! Twin/double rooms: You could decide who shares and who will share (it would be shared with the same gender). Multi-share rooms: These will be shared with fellow travelers at the temple, with a variety of room sizes that can fit 2, 5, or 9 people. Pod-style dormitory (Days 6-8): You'll enjoy a private pod-style bed in room of 12 split by gender.

Not sure how booking a roundtrip works with the 2 fairly separate cities of the tour.

  You have two options for this tour;
  
  Option 1 - Two Tickets - Fly into Tokyo and fly out of Osaka
  
  Option 2 - Bullet Train Back To Tokyo - We offer a Shinkansen (Bullet Train) ticket back to Tokyo and the journey will start from 6am. You can tell your tour guide the time of your flight and they will be able to book you onto the correct train to give you enough time to get to the airport. The cost for this is $275 AUD

I have question regarding food option for vegetarian (i can eat dairy and chicken eggs but no fish, chicken, meat,pork). would there be options or accomodations for it or would i be paying for those as extra.

  We don't have any flight package deals, however, if you check websites such as Skyscanner or Trip.com they are great price comparison sites. I find it useful to either book with them, or, find the airlines offering flights on my preffered travel dates and then check direct on the airline's website.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before August 23rd, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after August 23rd, 2026, a minimum payment of $250 is required to confirm your booking with One Life Adventures. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and One Life Adventures will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
