I really enjoyed the Osaka to Hiroshima Snapshot tour. Everything was well organised, which took out the stress of worrying how to get around, and let me focus on enjoying Japan.

Our guide, Jordan, was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and always easy to talk to. He had some great food recommendations and was flexible when the group needed a bit of extra rest or a change of pace.
We had a small group which made it easy to get to know people, and the itinerary included a good variety of experiences and locations. Highlights including our stay in Koyasan, and our morning trip to Nara to visit the deer.
My only tip for future travellers would be to pack light, or use luggage transfer or storage services where possible. The tour involves travelling by public transport, no private charter, so you're responsible for moving your own luggage throughout the trip, and a smaller bag will definitely make things easier.
Also if this is your first time in Japan, bring a note book to collect stamps! They're everywhere and are a fun little keepsake at the end of the trip.

Great places to stay - the temple my favourite - we were blessed with a great group of people from all different countries enjoying the tour, beautiful souls … who have made this birthday tour for me one of the best!! He’s such a chill, kind, and fun guy, and having someone around our age made the whole experience even better and more relaxed.
Jordan always made sure we got everywhere safely and smoothly, and he was super quick to respond whenever we had questions or needed help. He was also always up for any kind of fun or spontaneous plan, which made the trip feel really easygoing and memorable.
He took us to so many great places and gave really good recommendations throughout the trip. As vegetarians, we did find it more difficult to eat vegetarian food in Japan than we expected, but Jordan still did his best to help us find good options and places to eat.
One thing we would have loved was a longer stay in Hiroshima and on the island nearby, because there is honestly so much to see there — the mountain climb, museums, city center, temples, and beaches. Sadly, we couldn’t fit everything in, and the little time we had there felt quite rushed.
It also would have been really nice if a final dinner with the whole group had been included on the last day of the tour. After spending two weeks together, it would have been a perfect way to end the experience together as a group.
Another sad thing was seeing people leave after 10 days because they didn’t know there was a 14-day option available. We really enjoyed the extra days and wish more people could have experienced the full tour with us.
We’re really happy Jordan was part of our trip, and we truly hope it wasn’t the last time we met him. Thanks for making such an amazing experience!

Every stop felt unique and gave us a great mix of culture, scenery, and fun.
A huge thank you to our tour guide Jordan, who made the whole trip even better. He was an amazing host who always made everyone feel welcome, kept us laughing the entire trip, and somehow always knew exactly which train we needed to catch (also great karaoke skills). His energy and organization made traveling around Japan completely stress-free. I’d highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it.

Jordan also gave us recommendations of what to buy and where and other highlights to visit in our free time.
This tour is a good balance of organised and free time.
You’ll need to purchase most meals on this tour which is good because you get to choose what you eat and how much you spend.
Some of the activities such as the Kimono wearing and Kendo lesson I would never have done on my own. It was fun to do it with the group. Thanks Jordan.

I don’t travel much let alone travel abroad. That being said, this was a great experience pretty much driven by Jordan and his enthusiasm. That being said, this was a great experience pretty much driven by Jordan and his enthusiasm. His updates on the current day’s and next day’s activities always kept the group properly informed. He was extremely knowledgeable about what we were going to see in Japan and extra little items that only a local or well informed person would know about Japan.
He also had the daunting task of keeping up with everyone during our train excursions, and the group never missed a stop and no one was ever left behind. He easily managed all of the train tickets for the entire group which was also very impressive. He put forth 100% effort to keep the group entertained and engaged allowing us to more easily bond throughout our tour. Lastly, during the 10 day tour Jordan was able to keep a positive attitude the entire time. Given his realities that is quite impressive. I only regret not signing up for the 14 day trip. I had a great time. I couldn’t ask for much more I could than that.

Guide: Jordan was excellent, he was able to answer questions and kept dynamics light and friendly. The WhatsApp group he created and PhotoCircle made communication so much easier (and although I didn’t realise it, you could join the group about a week before the trip - which made answering any questions and clearing doubts easier too). Jordan’s overview of each day was very detailed and allowed us to know exactly what to prep for and when to be ready. He was friendly and helped us during free time as well to discover little hidden gems like book street.
Overall Organisation: I wish more details were included in the itinerary posted online. It may also be useful to suggest to people to download offline Google maps to help conserve battery as this is used a lot throughout the days especially when organising free time and meet ups. Overall the organisation of the company was decent, other companies I have used and similar costs do offer more little details (like totes bags to enough sustainability) - but for a 4 day tour this was a great introduction to Japan!

He also made navigating cultural norms easy and natural, which took a lot of stress out of the experience. If you want a trip where you can just show up and enjoy it, he’s a 5-star guide—no question.

The only small downside was the accommodation in Asakusa—if that had been better, the trip would have been a perfect 100.

The Perfect Balance: Whether we were walking through the serene, silent halls of ancient temples or diving into the neon energy of Osaka’s food scene, Jordan knew exactly how to set the tone.
A Culinary Insider: We didn't just eat; we had experiences. Jordan’s knowledge of local dining spots—from hidden-gem izakayas to the best bowls of ramen we’ve ever tasted—was incredible.

The itinerary strikes a great balance between historical and cultural sights, the food scene, iconic Instagram spots, hands-on experiences like sushi making and kendo, and plenty of free time to explore on your own. Jordan also gave us excellent recommendations for how to make the most of our free time.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has never been to Japan and is thinking about taking the plunge, just go for it! Be prepared to walk quite a bit, so wear comfortable shoes. You’ll also be sharing a room, so make sure you’re comfortable with that.

Jordan was an excellent guide, his knowledge extended far beyond the stops on the tour; he was able to share insights into Japanese life and pop culture and show us hidden gems around all of the cities we visited. He also gave us many personal recommendations for food, entertainment and good spots for photos. Jordan was friendly and outgoing and brought the group together.

The accommodations were also very comfortable as well for hostels and our favorite stay was the traditional stay in Hakone.

His recommendations for each city we visited were excellent — every spot he suggested was worth it and gave us a more local, authentic experience. When one of our trips was unexpectedly cancelled, Jordan went above and beyond to accommodate us by arranging an extra hotel stay in Kyoto, which made everything stress-free. He is very knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts and insights about the places we went to. Overall, he made this trip memorable and special. I would highly recommend him to anyone traveling here!

This was a really great and fun tour which made me visit and learn about stuff that I wouldn’t have done on my own. Our tour guide was amazing, cracking jokes while also being very informative.

I’ve been on a lot of different tours with different tour companies- but this tour of Japan was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. The itinerary covered all the major areas – from the buzzing cities to the peaceful countryside – and everything was so incredibly well organised. Every day ran like clockwork, yet still allowed for solo time to recharge, as well as lots of fun.
But the real highlight, without a doubt, was our tour guide - Jordan! He truly made the trip what it was. I’m 42, and most of the group (including Jordan) were in their early to mid-20s, but I never once felt out of place. Jordan was incredibly welcoming, super patient, funny, and helpful. He made everyone feel included, and he struck the perfect balance between being professional and just a really good time to be around.
He went above and beyond every single day – whether it was translating, providing interesting information and history of the places we visiting, giving amazing food recs, or just having a chat and a laugh. He kept us informed at every stage of the tour, so we never felt lost or confused with what was coming up next, or what our options were, (even when the weather didn’t want to be as accommodating as Jordan was)!
If you’re considering doing this tour – do it, and if you’re lucky enough to have Jordan as your guide, you’re in for something truly unforgettable.

The biggest thank you goes to Jordan, our amazing tour operator and guide, who made it possible. From the moment the trip started, Jordan’s warmth, professionalism, and deep knowledge of Japan’s culture, history, and hidden gems stood out.
He didn’t just show us only the typical tourist spots, but he brought us into the heart of Japan, from quiet temples and bustling markets to off the beaten path spots that I’d never have found on my own.
What made he truly exceptional was his attention to detail and his ability to tailor the experience to the group’s interests, from helping us navigate cultural etiquette, or translating menus and street signs, he was always one step ahead. And most importantily, he did it all with a sense of humor, kindness, and genuine passion for what he does.
Highly, highly recommend.

This tour is very “free time” orientated which for us was perfect, however definitely something to be aware of if you prefer to have your hand held the whole trip. But even during free time our guide had some great recommendations for this time. The hostels we stayed at were very nice especially in Osaka. The overall vibe of the group was fun which was largely thanks to Jordan who brought us all together.
The overall experience was great and met some wonderful people which made the trip so much more enjoyable. Jordan was a good tour guide and fit well into the group.

I don’t think it is clear in the itinerary just how much free time there is on the tour. Whilst some people may enjoy this, if I had known I would have done a lot more research into places / areas and felt I was missing out on some of the locations. I think some of the days in Kyoto could have been condensed down to 2 days to spend more time elsewhere. Those on the 9 day tour only get an afternoon / evening in Osaka and the tour could be better organised to spend more time there if other days had been condensed.
The accommodation in Tokyo was poor in comparison to the other hostels we stayed in.
If there were more social events in the first day or two where the whole group could spend time together I think it would really help the group dynamic as it felt like these activities only happened on the last few days.

It was our first time in Japan and our guide, Jordan, did a great job of introducing us to the culture and all the essential spots. It was very fascinating and you can tell that Jordan truly enjoys sharing this with other people. The group trip was a new way of traveling for us, and that dynamic was so much fun. We got to share these incredible experiences with loads of new friends. Jordan always did a great job of bringing us together and inviting us out to great restaurants and bars. The whole group quickly grew close, and we shared some fun nights out.
I liked how there was plenty of free time to be able to explore as we wanted to, but also the inclusion of walking tours etc was a great way to learn info about the local area.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for an awesome 9-day Essentials Japan trip. The whole experience was spot-on. The tour had a great balance of organised activities and free time, which made it super easy to enjoy the must-see spots while also getting the chance to do our own thing and explore a bit more.
Every place we stayed in was great—clean, in good locations, and had a good mix of chill and social vibes. Honestly couldn’t fault the accommodation at all. It made it easy to relax after big days or hang out with the group when we felt like it.
A big shoutout to our guide, LM (Jordan). He was absolutely unreal. From day one, he was approachable, easy to connect with, and had a real passion for Japan that made everything more fun and interesting. He had heaps of local knowledge, always knew where to go or what to do, and even during free time, he was full of solid suggestions—whether it was food spots, bars, or random local gems. Every recommendation hit the mark.
Having someone like Jordan leading the tour made a huge difference. It felt less like a structured group tour and more like an adventure with a bunch of mates. I’d 100% recommend jumping on one of his tours to anyone, and I’ll definitely be booking another trip with you guys—especially if he’s leading it.

He always made sure we had what we needed for the day and always gave us good recommendations whether if it was for photo spots, food, or things to do during our free time. It was nice having a smaller group too, having done a larger tour in the Phillipines with One Life it was nice to get to know people better and certainly easier to navigate the busy Tokyo rail network.

Over 11 days, our group travelled from Tokyo to Nagano, experiencing …As a first-time traveller to Japan, this was an incredible experience and one I highly recommended to other like-minded explorers. Over 11 days, our group travelled from Tokyo to Nagano, experiencing everything from temples and shrines, to an authentic kendo experience, and even viewing the snow monkeys! The itinerary was never bare, but it also allowed plenty of time to explore at your own pace.
A winter trip and strategic planning ensured minimal crowds when visiting the major tourist hotspots (such as Fushimi Inari Taisha), and when we did encounter the crushing bustle of people (usually on the train!) it seemed like an addition to the experience rather than a constant nightmare.
We definitely couldn’t have had the experience we did though if it wasn’t for our tour guide, Jordan. Always cool, calm, and collected, Jordan’s knowledge of the country and his impeccable organisation ensured that we were always where we needed to be, and that we were experiencing the best of Japan without worrying about if we were going to miss crucial transport or activities. When we did run into a road block (the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building was closed), Jordan smoothly pivoted and we had an equally awesome time at the Skytree instead. We also all appreciated Jordan’s food and activity recommendations during free time, and learned way more about the regions we were visiting than if we’d explored on our own.
Overall, I had an amazing trip and I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone considering travelling to Japan (and while I can’t speak for all the members of the group, I’m sure they’d agree!). Thank you Jordan, and thank you One Life Adventures!

Our time was truly used so efficiently. This was my third One Life Tour, and I have been repeatedly impressed by the tour guides that are part of the One Life team. Both of our guides, Jordan and Anna, were awesome. I was very impressed by Jordan, who was our primary tour guide throughout the trip. He was very helpful and patient. He was eager to help and proactively checked in with us to make sure he was doing everything he could to make our trip great. When he didn't know the answer to something he always followed up to make sure we got an answer later. He was always punctual. Lastly, he was patient with me, as I sometimes asked a lot of repetitive questions. Anna was very knowledgeable about Hiroshima and Miyajima and always knew the answer to all of our questions. We had a great time and I would continue to recommend One Life to others.
Areas of improvement:
• For the 14 day tour, there's no need to go to both Koyasan and Takayama, as they are very similar experiences. It would have been more fun and interesting to have an additional day in Osaka instead of two temple nights.
• There should be an option on whether or not we participate in the vegan meals in Koyasan.
• The local tour of Kyoto can be improved. Also the tour would be much better if it was during the day and not when it's dark outside.
• There should be an option to leave luggage at Namba Station when going to Koyasan. There were large cheap lockers that we passed by both ways and would have saved a lot of stress carrying our full sized bags with us in so many transfers for just one night. There was time for us to retrieve the luggage on the way back, as we spent time waiting around at Namba Station.
• 18 people on tour was a bit too large. Our guides did a great job of corralling us, but a smaller group would have greatly improved the experience.
