  I'm 28 and have a hip injury, although I'm able to walk normally and travel independently. My hip can sometimes become aggravated with prolonged walking or standing, so before booking I'd just like to understand how physically demanding the trip is and how much flexibility there is if I need to sit out an activity or take some extra time to rest. I also had a few questions about handling luggage while traveling between cities and the accommodations.

    The tour does have a lot of walking typically from 15,000 to 25,000 steps per day but you do have the flexibility to sit out of certain activities and your guide can offer some suggestions of things that you can do instead.
    
    Regarding luggage, having large luggage or suitcases on transfer days can be challenging so we advise on using backpacks and not suitcase - especially as you'll be using a range of different transport modes; train, metro, bus etc. If a suitcase is more suitable for you, we recommend using a luggage delivery service and your tour guide can assist you with that whilst on tour.The luggage limit on the Shinkansen (bullet train) is very strict. Bags over 160cm (height x width x length) need an advance reservation and bags over 251cm cannot be accommodated even with a reservation.

    Do you offer any Japan tours that are a little less physically demanding and have more of a traditional hotel-based travel style, with easier luggage transfers rather than needing to travel primarily with a backpack? I'm still hoping to see several parts of Japan and have a mix of cultural experiences, temples, cities, and more traditional areas.

    We have a Tokyo only tour which is the first 4 days of the Classic tour - but I'm not sure if that's something you'd want as I can see you're eager to see more of Japan.
    
    The only other option is our Japan Essentials tour which has less included activities, but the same modes of transport and it moves to mostly multi-share hostel accommodation.

    We are unable to accommodate guests who are over the age of 59. This helps us better manage group dynamics and ensure the experience meets the expectations of everyone travelling with us.

    I originally wondered if there was opportunity to take part in the Mario kart racing in Tokyo and potentially a calligraphy class in our free time?

    We no longer offer street go-karting as an optional activity on Japan Essentials.
    
    If you want to do the Essentials Tour you can book it by yourselves, there is free time from approximately 3-6pm on Day 2. We do have a schedule from 6-9 pm with dinner and arcades in Akihabara. If you want to book the karting during day 2 free time, say 4 pm, it would be easy for them to meet the group in Akihabara if you also booked the karting there.
    
    The other option would be to arrive in Japan 1 day earlier and do that together without having to either miss activities or be slightly rushed.
    
    You will need to book the Go Karting in advance, also you will need a valid driving license from home as well as an international driving license to be able to do this activity.

    There will be 1 x Buddhist Dinner and 1 x Buddhist breakfast on Day 11 (dinner) and Day 12 (breakfast) at the Buddhist Temple in Koyasan.
    
    There are also veg options for Dinner on Day 1 and Day 4.
    
    Breakfasts will be standard hotel breakfasts or buffet.

    Tokyo Accommodation - There is no kettle or microwave but there will be access to hot water, and you can ask their kitchen team if you can heat up food

    This tour requires a reasonable level of fitness due to the amount of walking involved. There will be some days where you will be walking more than approximately 8-10km. Please bring appropriate footwear for this!
    
    We can add accommodation in Tokyo before the tour starts and potentially after the tour, but we couldn't add extra activities. We also wouldn't be able to help with an addon to Hong Kong - we do have a tour in South Korea however, and I can look at matching the dates up for you if that is something you'd like to do?

  I am a fit 64 year old travelling with my 23 year old son. I walk every day 6-8 miles take regular exercise and last week completed a 20 mile charity walk in under 5 hours. Can I join this tour?

  I would like to know if you could assist us in arranging a customized tour in Japan for two travelers, starting in september 15. The itinerary can be similar to Japan Classic 14 Day, but for these clients it is important to include the following destinations: Tokyo, Nikko, Mt. Fuji, Kanazawa, Koyasan, Kyoto, and finishing again in Tokyo. The idea is for them to have some free days in Tokyo and Kyoto to explore at their own pace. We would also like to include day tours where appropriate, and they should travel between cities mainly by train. For accommodation, 3-star hotels would be perfectly suitable. Although the overall trip would be a private/customized itinerary, it would be completely fine if the day trips (such as Nikko or Mt. Fuji) are operated as shared/group tours.

  Is it okay if I miss the Day 1 Welcome Dinner and Senso-ji visit? What is the procedure for a late check-in? Where should I meet the group on the morning of Day 2 so I don't miss the orientation briefing? Additionally, since the tour ends in Hiroshima on Day 14, do you recommend I book my flight home directly from Hiroshima or should I plan to travel back to Tokyo?

    We don't offer Single room upgrades in Japan, one reason is the cost of standard hotel rooms in Japan not being budget friendly and would make the tour cost significantly more. Also many of our guests have found the variety of room styles to be a unique and enjoyable part of the experience! Twin/double rooms: You'll be paired with 1 of your travel party (the other would share with someone of the same gender). Multi-share rooms: These will be shared with fellow travelers with a variety of room sizes that can fit 2, 5, or 9 people. One of the stays includes a stay at a traditional Japanese Temple (a truly unique experience) as well as a stay at an authentic Japanese Guesthouse! Pod-style dormitory: You'll enjoy a private pod-style bed in room of 12. We regularly get great reviews about the variety of accommodation types that we offer on this tour. Regarding discounts we don't have any sales or offers running at the moment, however, if you place a deposit today you will lock in the current price and not be subject to any potential price increases next year.

    Not happy with the sleeping accommodations. They are too much like youth hostels and we have outgrown them!
