We are planning on arriving in London a day early. I was wondering if we should watch the changing of the guards on our own time, or will be going to Buckingham Palace as a group to watch it on Day 2? Don't want to miss it and don't want to duplicate it! Also, what time will be meeting at the hotel on Day 1, 5pm or so? Just trying to plan ahead and fit sites in that morning/afternoon.

The days the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace normally takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It looks like your preferred departure date is on 18 May 2026 (Monday). As the included London Sightseeing by Local Specialist is on Day 2 (Tuesday), it might not take place. If you are arriving a day early, we recommend visiting it at your own time. As for the meeting time on Day 1 (18 May 2026), as day 1 is only an included night, you may proceed directly at the hotel. Check-in times vary but on average check-in time is at 15:00 (3pm).

The tour will officially start on Day 3 and will depart London hotel at approximately 07:30am or 07:45am if breakfast is busy.

This was a very good tour for people like us who wanted to see a range of territory (much of Great Britain) that we had never seen before in a fairly short period of time (two weeks). Several said now they know which places they want to come back to. It was not too exhausting for "old people "(us), plenty of time to rest on the coach as we saw for the first time beautiful areas of English and Scottish countryside, spritely walks around towns and cities. I thought I had completed this already, but apparently not, The trip was great. We saw a great deal of Britain and Scotland, not just the typical touristy things, although we saw those, too. A highlight was in the Highlands of Scotland where we watched a sheepherding demonstration by shepherd Neal and his amazing border collies. Rose was a great tour guide. She was full of energy and information and kept us entertained and informed for the whole trip. She used little presentations to make our time on the bus more enjoyable. The driver, Simon, was so kind and was a fantastic driver. He maneuvered our bus into some incredibly tight spots without a scratch. The local tour guides in London, Liverpool, Scotland and Wales were very good, and knowledgeable as well. We enjoyed sampling traditional British and Scottish fare, with a stop at Ghillie Du where we enjoyed singing, dancing and bagpipes.Show more

Is there a single supplement? Do you expect up to 45 travelers on the 22 May and 29 May trips? When do you usually have the least number of travelers? Can you suggest reasonable transfers from LHR to and from the London hotel? What time does the trip begin on the first day?

- For any tour departing before August 22nd, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after August 22nd, 2026, a minimum payment of $200 is required to confirm your booking with Trafalgar. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Trafalgar will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Trafalgar" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
