Suresh (guide) and Narayan (porter) made my Annapurna Base Camp trek truly memorable, and I can't recommend them highly enough. The flexibility started before the trek even began. When I realized last-minute that I needed an NOC from the Indian Embassy, they accommodated a one-day delay to my start date without any hesitation — that set the tone for the whole experience. On the trail, both were genuinely supportive. Rather than pushing their own pace, they walked with me at the pace I could manage, which made a huge difference in actually enjoying the climb instead of just enduring it. They were patient, encouraging, and easy company through every stretch. When I decided I wanted to do the descent from ABC all the way down to Jhinu Danda in a single day, they didn't try to talk me out of it — they planned smart, paced it well, and made it happen. If you're looking for a guide-and-porter team that's flexible, patient, and willing to back your goals, Suresh and Narayan are exactly who you want.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! So happy with our experience with WTX and Nepal. highly recommend! Pros: - Guide: Raj is an amazing guide. Incredibly knowledgeable about a large range of topics from religion, history, culture, politics, food, etc. there wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer- it was impressive. He told very interesting stories and taught us so much. He stayed with us the entire time, from airport pick up to drop off, and was very generous with his time and knowledge. He prepared us for each days activities and checked in to ensure we were satisfied and happy with our experiences all along the way, personalizing the experience. He managed the schedule/ itinerary expertly and gave us the exact right amount of time at each site. He even acted as a photographer. He ensured that we felt taken care of from start to finish- it felt like we were visiting a friend. - Driver: very friendly, nice and clean car, expertly handled the roads and traffic - Sites/ itinerary: followed listed itinerary perfectly. unique and interesting religious and royal sites, where you can learn a lot about Hinduism, Buddhism, and the Nepali people, their history, and culture. The sites are fairly close, so you can spend a lot of time at each spot, with a little bit of walking at each location. Going to Nagarkot allowed the opportunity to see the mid-hills region and learn more about the villages and agriculture. Truly a beautiful country. We also happened to visit during a festival, which provided even more of a unique cultural experience! - Optional Everest Mountain flight: $250 usd per person, you wake up very early to fly over the mountains around sunrise to Everest. The crew points out key mountains during the flight, and they only book window seats to guarantee a good view. Very unique experience - we’re very happy we decided to add it to our schedule. WTX accommodated adding this optional service very last minute, including picking us up from the hotel to the airport, and getting us back to the hotel by breakfast before starting the planned itinerary - Accommodations: we loved the two hotels provided with this tour. The people were particularly friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was great, and the hotels were spacious and clean. We especially enjoyed Timber House, in Kathmandu - beautiful rooms, great rooftop restaurant and bar, and is in an ideal location to explore Thamel by foot. - Food: Try the local cuisine, it was one of the highlights of our trip! Raj took us to several awesome locations for lunch and snacks, including many small, local restaurants and vendors, allowing us to sample a lot of the local cuisine and drinks that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. - Safety: the nepali people were so warm, friendly, and hospitable - We felt very safe the whole time. - Value: excellent value- very reasonable price for the accommodations and services provided. Since no one else booked during our trip, we had a private tour, which really allowed us to ask questions and for Raj to guide based on our interests. - free e-sim was a very helpful service provided by tour radar- you get one for yourself and for your fellow travelers, which worked without any issues Cons: - Not enough time in nepal- we wish we could have stayed longer! A few tourist visa tips, unrelated to the tour: - if you’re not able to get the visa online, before arrival, have local currency on hand for money exchange for the visa fee ($30 usd per person). The only atm on that side of immigration was very finicky, leaving several people in a bind. Otherwise in Kathmandu, there are plenty of accessible atms, which is helpful as cash is king in Nepal. - Note the Kathmandu hotel, or ask WTX ahead of arrival, as you’ll need it for visa entry.

Best time to visit Nepal
- Summer 2026
Summer tours stick to the southern regions and cultural sites to avoid the worst of the monsoons. We head to Chitwan National Park where early morning canoe rides get you close to marsh mugger crocodiles and lots of unique birds. Moving up into the hills, we blend temple visits with moderate treks like the Poon Hill route which shows off the Annapurna mountains. Our travelers say they love how these summer trips balance out - you'll track rhinos on safari in the morning and relax at riverside lodges in the evening. The cultural side really comes alive too, with stops in traditional Magar villages and time spent learning local customs from Gurung communities in the lower mountains.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn gives us Nepal's most reliable weather and our biggest selection of tours. The Everest Base Camp trek works especially well from October to November when clear skies show off the ice falls and glacier landscapes. Our customers rave about the variety - you trek through Sherpa villages, cross the massive Hillary Bridge and climb Kala Patar for early morning views over Everest. If you prefer an easier pace, we've got routes through the Annapurna foothills that mix comfortable teahouse stays with visits to Buddhist monasteries, Hindu temples and also local markets. Our guides make these autumn tours special - they know the traditions inside out and make sure you're ready for each day's hiking. The stable weather means you can do it all - rafting the Trisuli, watching tigers in Chitwan and hiking to viewpoints that show off the whole range.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter reveals Nepal's most distinctive experiences, letting our multi-day discovery tours showcase crisp mountain views and genuine cultural interactions. Our travelers enjoy combining Trisuli River rafting through class 3-4 rapids with stops at Chitwan National Park, where Bengal tigers and rhinos become more visible in the cool season. The classic Everest Base Camp trek spans 15 days at an easy rhythm, which gives you time to adjust in charming Sherpa villages like Namche Bazaar before climbing the high passes. For a more relaxed experience, the Ghorepani paths wind through oak forests, leading to prime Annapurna sunrise viewpoints while mountain lodges provide comfortable shelter. Our guides earn constant appreciation for adjusting winter schedules around weather patterns, finding clear viewing windows for key summits, and sharing their deep understanding of Buddhist traditions. Many itineraries include personal touches like sharing meals with local families, learning the art of momo dumpling-making in village homes and discovering local customs - the kinds of warm encounters that make winter travel in Nepal so special.

- Spring 2027
Spring in Nepal brings perfect trekking conditions with rhododendrons coloring the hillsides in pink and purple hues. Our main trek follows the Dudh Kosi Valley up to Everest Base Camp - you'll cross high suspension bridges and sleep in local teahouses along the way. From March through May, the blue pine forests look particularly nice and you'll get clear views of peaks like Kusum Kanguru and Thamserku reaching above 6,000 meters. If you want to mix things up a bit, try our combo tour that pairs white-water rafting on the Trisuli River with hikes to remote Gurung villages. You'll stay with local families and really get to know mountain life. Our customers tell us these spring tours hit the sweet spot - one day you're navigating rapids, the next you're learning traditional cooking in a village kitchen.
