Nepal Safari Tours
Think about experiencing Nepal's wildlife on safari. You'll spot elusive Bengal tigers and rhinos in Bardia National Park's grasslands. There's birdwatching, sloth bear sightings, canoe trips, and overnight jungle lodges. Nepal's lowland wilderness is totally different from the mountains everyone knows about. These active safaris mix up wildlife activities throughout - the Himalayas have lowlands too, and they're worth exploring.

My partner and I really enjoyed our tour to Chitwan safari park. This was definitely one of if not the favourite part of our trip to Nepal. The tours throughout Safari were private despite being informed at booking we would be in a group- this was a very pleasant surprise and made the whole experience very enjoyable- we were made to feel welcome and at home by all staff involved. The Rainforest Hotel was fantastic, staff went out of their way to be very helpful and all were exceptionally polite. The hotel itself was clean and at one point we had the pool to ourselves. This was another highlight of the tour- having some relaxing time. Our guide Rajendra had exceptional knowledge, and enabled us to get the absolute most out of the safari as we both had so many questions. The elephant bath was a moment I will never forget! He was fantastic The bus journey to Chitwan wasn’t the best, not because of anything done wrong by the tour company but simply because neither me nor my partner cope well on long journeys however several toilet stops were planned in. On the way onward from Chitwan to Pokhara I felt really unwell but wasn’t allowed to take the front seats by the coordinator from Mountain Overland due to them having been booked by someone else. I would maybe recommend a private cab for future tourists if you can afford to. Overall I cannot fault the tour to Chitwan, it was incredible- the cultural dance by the local Tharu people was also a highlight. Thank you again to Rajendra for making the trip extra special.

What our customers ask about Nepal Safari Tours
What are the best times of year to visit Nepal's national parks for wildlife viewing?
October through March stands out as prime wildlife viewing season in Nepal's national parks. The dry mild weather creates clear conditions in places like Chitwan National Park where animals gather at water holes and shorter grass improves visibility. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We started our trip at Chitwan and were accompanied by an expert guide who showed us the rich natural beauty and diverse wildlife in perfect viewing conditions." The monsoon months of June through September bring heavy rains that can limit safari activities and make wildlife harder to spot.
What wildlife species can I expect to see on a Nepal safari?
Nepal's national parks offer close encounters with remarkable wildlife. In Chitwan and Bardiya visitors regularly spot one-horned rhinoceros Bengal tigers sloth bears various deer species leopards wild elephants and hundreds of bird species. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "During our jeep safari we encountered four one-horned rhinos Sambar deer and several other species. The naturalist guides were excellent at tracking and spotting wildlife."

The sweet spot for Nepal safari tours falls between 2-4 days though extended 7-8 day luxury options let you explore multiple parks. Three days gives enough time to see wildlife and join key activities. TourRadar data shows most visitors choose 3-4 day trips while some opt for weeklong luxury experiences covering both Chitwan and Bardiya National Parks.
How do I get to Chitwan National Park from Kathmandu?
Travelers can reach Chitwan National Park by road or air from Kathmandu. Tourist buses make the scenic 5-6 hour drive along the Trishuli River. For quicker access a 25-minute flight to Bharatpur Airport followed by a short drive gets you to the park.
