Safari Tours & Trips in Nepal
Think about experiencing Nepal's wildlife on safari. You'll spot elusive Bengal tigers and rhinos in Bardia National Park's grasslands. There's birdwatching, sloth bear sightings, canoe trips, and overnight jungle lodges. Nepal's lowland wilderness is totally different from the mountains everyone knows about. These active safaris mix up wildlife activities throughout - the Himalayas have lowlands too, and they're worth exploring.

This was my first time in Nepal, and I felt very supported. Local guides helped explain the temples and their stories, which made them more interesting. Hotels were modest but fine. Chitwan added something completely different with elephants and nature walks. It’s not a fast paced tour, which I appreciated. You get to actually enjoy each spot.

Well apparently I was the first booking for this tour package and only one on this particular tour. From begging to end I was taken a good care of. The company makes sure that they stay in touch with you all through out ( thanks Kushan and Resham) and they arrange all the drives on time. The tour itself is very enjoyable and planned. You also have enough time to do your own thing as well. There are three places covered Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara. In each of them you have great tour guides that will go beyond the expected. Just a quick thanks to Punam in Kathmandu, Hari in Chitwan and Pradip in Pokhara. The bus rides are long 7-8 hours and sometimes bumpy but the countryside is amazing. You can always opt for a plane if long rides are not for you. All in all it’s a great tour with great organisation and tour guides and if you are on a short string and short of time it’s the perfect one.

What our customers ask about Safari Tours & Trips in Nepal
What are the best times of year to visit Nepal's national parks for wildlife viewing?
October through March stands out as prime wildlife viewing season in Nepal's national parks. The dry mild weather creates clear conditions in places like Chitwan National Park where animals gather at water holes and shorter grass improves visibility. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We started our trip at Chitwan and were accompanied by an expert guide who showed us the rich natural beauty and diverse wildlife in perfect viewing conditions." The monsoon months of June through September bring heavy rains that can limit safari activities and make wildlife harder to spot.
What wildlife species can I expect to see on a Nepal safari?
Nepal's national parks offer close encounters with remarkable wildlife. In Chitwan and Bardiya visitors regularly spot one-horned rhinoceros Bengal tigers sloth bears various deer species leopards wild elephants and hundreds of bird species. The riverside areas near Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge are known for gharial crocodile sightings. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "During our jeep safari we encountered four one-horned rhinos Sambar deer and several other species. The naturalist guides were excellent at tracking and spotting wildlife."
What accommodation options are available during safari tours in Nepal?
Nepal's safari lodges span from high-end options like Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge to mid-range resorts and basic guesthouses. Standard amenities include air-conditioning private bathrooms and full meal service. Guest feedback highlights properties like the Seven Star Hotel in Chitwan where according to one TourRadar traveler: "The hotel was very nice and the lovely lady in the restaurant took really good care of me." Many locations feature pools outdoor dining spaces and evening gathering spots around the fire.
How long should I plan for a safari tour in Nepal?
The sweet spot for Nepal safari tours falls between 2-4 days though extended 7-8 day luxury options let you explore multiple parks. Three days gives enough time to see wildlife and join key activities. TourRadar data shows most visitors choose 3-4 day trips while some opt for weeklong luxury experiences covering both Chitwan and Bardiya National Parks.
How do I get to Chitwan National Park from Kathmandu?
Travelers can reach Chitwan National Park by road or air from Kathmandu. Tourist buses make the scenic 5-6 hour drive along the Trishuli River. For quicker access a 25-minute flight to Bharatpur Airport followed by a short drive gets you to the park. Real traveler insights from Nepal Social Treks note: "The bus journey states 5-6 hours but in reality was 7 hours there. The drive along the Trishuli River offers beautiful countryside views despite the long journey."
What's included in typical safari tour packages?
Standard safari packages cover accommodation meals guided activities national park fees and city transfers. At Chitwan visitors typically get 2-3 daily safari excursions plus cultural programs. A TourRadar reviewer confirms the value: "Everything was well organized - from pick-up in Kathmandu to all safari activities meals and cultural shows. The package provided great value."
