After a bad start, where I has not been communicated of a new hotel accommodation in Boulevard Hotel, I first took a taxi from the airport to the Heron Hotel, I paid 3,400 shillings. Then when I realized that the orientation meeting was been held in the Boulevard hotel, I had to take another taxi, and I had to paid 2,000 shillings. But after this moment everything was a wonderful experience.

This safari offered a great mix of destinations and experiences for the price. Maasai Mara completely stole the show—we saw lions lounging in the grass, elephants crossing right in front of us, and even a cheetah in action. Lake Nakuru was just as memorable with its stunning flamingo-covered shores. Hell’s Gate added a fun twist with cycling and walking, which made the trip feel more interactive. The guide was knowledgeable and kept things engaging throughout. For a budget safari, this experience exceeded my expectations.

My 20year old son and I travelled on this 5 day tour together. Albert was great to work with, and answered all my questions quickly on WhatsApp. We had a fabulous guide named Zach. As we were travelling in the off season we had the 4WD to ourselves for 4 of the days. Zach was a great driver and we felt very safe. The game drive in the Maasi Mara was a big day. There was a lot of 4 WD which was fun. We found all the animals easily and again there were not a lot of tourists so we got to enjoy them, often by ourselves. We nearly didn’t do the Maasai village visit, thinking it may be a bit touristy. But it was fabulous. I would recommend to do it. Lake Nakuru was an amazing park, and I enjoyed the driving pace much more. I was disappointed to not see the flamingos here though. But we found them the next day at an extra stop that we added in, at Lake Elementaita. They were fabulous. Hells gate was a high light on the safari. After sitting in the 4WD for 4 days it was great to get out and bike through the park. Then walking into the gorge was incredible. The accomodation is budget as the tour says. I would recommend taking snacks and water with you in the jeep as we often wanted to snack with big days on the road or in the park. Overall it was a great trip and as a budget trip I would recommend it.

What our customers ask about Kenya Safari Tours
What are the best months to visit Kenya for wildlife viewing and safari experiences?
Kenya's prime wildlife viewing unfolds from July to October coinciding with the Great Migration in Masai Mara. During this period more than 1.5 million wildebeest make their dramatic crossing of the Mara River. The January to March dry season also offers excellent viewing opportunities in parks like Amboseli and Lake Nakuru where animals gather around water sources. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We experienced incredible wildlife sightings in Masai Mara during September watching thousands of wildebeest crossing while predators followed close behind."
What types of accommodation options are available on Kenya safaris?
Kenya's safari accommodations span from basic to luxurious with options that fit various travel styles and budgets. Masai Mara features high-end properties like Mara Sopa Lodge alongside authentic bush experiences at Lenchada Tourist Camp. Similar variety exists in Amboseli where travelers choose between established lodges like Sentrim and more rustic options at Kimana Camp. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The accommodations exceeded expectations - from the beautiful Mara Sopa Lodge overlooking the savanna to the intimate tented camps that brought us closer to nature."
How many days should I plan for a Kenya safari to see the major highlights?
Most travelers find that 6-8 days provides enough time to experience Kenya's key wildlife areas. A well-planned itinerary typically allocates 3 days for Masai Mara 2 days exploring Lake Nakuru or Lake Naivasha and 2-3 days in Amboseli National Park. One TourRadar traveler commented on the 8-day National Geographic Journeys safari: "The itinerary was perfectly paced giving us enough time in each location to really experience the wildlife and landscapes without feeling rushed."
How much do Kenya safari tours typically cost per day?
Daily rates for Kenya safaris range from $300 to $700 depending on comfort level and activities. Budget-conscious travelers can find camping safaris starting at $200-300 while luxury lodge experiences start from $500. These rates usually cover lodging meals game drives park entrance fees and guide services. A TourRadar review stated: "The 8-day National Geographic Kenya Safari at 675 USD per day was worth every penny for the quality of lodges expert guides and incredible wildlife experiences."
Are Kenya safaris suitable for families with children?
Kenya welcomes family safaris though most tours set minimum age requirements between 6-12 years. Family-friendly properties like Mara Sopa Lodge and Sentrim Amboseli offer suitable amenities including family rooms and swimming pools. According to a TourRadar family: "Our 8-day safari with Perfect Wilderness Tours was fantastic for our kids aged 10 and 12 - the guides were patient and made wildlife viewing fun and educational."
What is the typical daily schedule on a Kenya safari?
Safari days begin early with game drives starting at 5:30-6:00 AM followed by breakfast at camp. Midday brings time for relaxation before afternoon wildlife viewing from 3:30-6:00 PM ending with dinner. A TourRadar traveler described the rhythm: "Days started early with coffee and sunrise game drives in Masai Mara followed by hearty breakfasts at Mara Sopa Lodge. Afternoons were perfect for relaxing before evening drives when animals were most active."
