You could have a look at the Flight of the Flamingos tour which runs from Johannesburg to Nairobi. It is possible to join this tour in Victoria Falls, the itinerary is fairly similar to the Big Six tour except that it does not visit any places in Zimbabwe once it leaves Victoria Falls, it heads straight into Zambia from there. The 22 July tour is confirmed to run and will be in Victoria Falls on 31 July, departing from there to go north on 3 August. If this is of interest let us know and we can give you a quote for this tour. The August departure has no bookings at this stage so is unlikely to run.

I was wondering whether you had any last minute cancellations for the trip that leaves at the end of June?

Can I get an estimate of what the local payment may be if I was to book this exact tour? additionally, would you recommend this tour to solo female travellers?

The local payment for the Big Six tour is 1,000 USD and is payable to your tour leader on day 1 of the tour in USD cash. We regularly have many solo female travellers on our trips and overlanding provides a safe way to travel as an independent traveller as part of a group.

May I know is there really no more availability in late July for the big six?

The July departure for this tour is unfortunately fully booked. We do still have a spot on the 20 August departure if that can also work for you?

I'm just wondering about the tour guide. All the reviews are telling that the tour guide was great. But this tour is without a tour guide or how is it going?

All our tours including the Simba Sounds tour have a tourleader and a driver who will be with you for the whole tour. The tourleader is tere to ensure everything runs smoothly and to keep you informed on the runnings of the tour as you go along. Note that as our tours travel through several countries and visit lots of places the tourleader will not have extensive knowledge of each place you visit, for this we use local guides at each location.

On average how many additional activities do most people go on?

The additional activities are based really on peoples interests and budgets. The big ones most people do are the gorillas, Zanzibar and the houseboats. The other ones you can decide as you are on the tour and see how the money is looking and what may interest you. The most popular ones are, chimp trekking, diving or snorkelling on Zanzibar, horse riding in Malawi, the morning activity at Matopos in Zim, Lion walk and Victoria Falls activities.

When is the best time to view the migration?

The prime time to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania is usually regarded as being from late November through to March when the big herds of wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and zebra head on to the southern plains of the Serengeti. To get the best viewing on the other hand in Kenya's Masai Mara July through to September are usually regarded as the best months.

  Unfortunately I can only come to Africa from late July to mid September and I wish to explore these 7 countries. Is there any other tour you provide?

  This year, that is our only tour covering all 7 countries at that time. Our southbound tours starting in Nairobi have always been our main route and the most popular. We started a northbound route but this was introduced later on and has always been quieter. As a result, given the time we perceive it will take to get bookings back to normal after Covid, we took the choice to cancel all northbound tours this year and so there are no alternatives on this route in late July.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before May 18th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after May 18th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Absolute Africa. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
