What are the best activities to do on the Amalfi Coast in May?

May's mild temperatures create ideal conditions for both active experiences and leisurely exploration. The Path of the Gods trail between Bomerano and Positano offers clear hiking conditions while Pompeii's ancient streets are comfortably walkable without summer heat. Boat tours to Capri's Blue Grotto resume their full schedule this month. A recent visitor noted "The Walk of the Gods has beautiful views along the entire route. Not as hard as I thought it was going to be." Accommodations like the Grand Hotel Vesuvio in Sorrento or Hotel Risorgimento in San Lazzaro provide convenient bases for daily excursions.

What unique events or festivals take place on the Amalfi Coast in May?

The region comes alive with cultural celebrations in May. The Ravello Music Festival begins its seasonal programming while coastal towns celebrate the "Festa del Limone" with local citrus at places like Minori's lemon farms. A recent guest at Grand Hotel Vesuvio shared: "The lemon festival was a highlight with amazing limoncello tastings and local products everywhere."

What are the best day trips to take from the Amalfi Coast in May?

The comfortable spring weather makes May perfect for exploring Capri Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Many travelers choose Hotel Palazzo Salgar in Naples as their starting point. Recent visitors report: "Taking the ferry to Capri was smooth in May with fewer tourists than summer making the Blue Grotto visit much more enjoyable." Regular tours depart from Sorrento to Pompeii throughout the month.

How crowded is the Amalfi Coast in May?

Visitor numbers in May strike a balance between winter's quiet and summer's peak crowds. Recent travelers report: "Visiting Positano and Amalfi in May meant we could enjoy restaurants like Da Adolfo without long waits and the famous beaches weren't overcrowded." Key attractions including the Duomo in Amalfi and Villa Rufolo in Ravello can be explored at a relaxed pace.

What is the weather like on the Amalfi Coast during May?

May temperatures range from 65-75°F (18-24°C) creating comfortable conditions for coastal activities. Visitors report consistent sunny days suitable for both hiking and town exploration. The Hotel Due Torri in Bomerano opens its outdoor pool by mid-April making May an excellent time for swimming before summer heat arrives.

What are the best towns to stay in during May on the Amalfi Coast?

Positano Amalfi and Sorrento offer prime locations before summer crowds arrive. The Grand Hotel Vesuvio in Sorrento combines sea views with central access. As one visitor noted: "Staying in Sorrento at the Grand Hotel Vesuvio provided easy access to both Capri and the Amalfi Coast towns while May offered perfect weather for exploring."
