Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bomerano (Agerola)

Your adventure kicks off in Bomerano, a quiet hilltop village in the Agerola Valley about an hour and twenty minutes south of Naples. You'll arrive at Hotel Due Torri, a family-run property with vineyards and orchards surrounding it and views of the Lattari mountains. After settling into your room, you'll meet up with the group for a welcome dinner and a briefing about what's ahead for the week.

    Positano

Take a private bus down to Amalfi, Italy's oldest maritime republic, and walk through its narrow alleyways and sun-filled squares. The grand cathedral here features colorful tiles and is worth seeing. There's an optional paper museum if that interests you. After that, board a fast boat to Positano (about 20 minutes) with great coastal views of white cliffs and small beaches. Spend a few hours on foot exploring Positano before returning to your hotel by boat and private bus in the late afternoon.

    Pompeii

Head to the Bay of Naples (roughly 1 hour by private bus) to visit Herculaneum and Pompeii with local guides. Both sites were buried by Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE and are remarkably well preserved. Herculaneum has well-kept ruins, frescoes, and recently discovered skeletons. Pompeii shows Roman homes, stores, bathhouses, and those iconic plaster bodies. You'll return to the hotel in the late afternoon (about 1 hour) for dinner and a pizza-making demonstration.

Next, join the Path of the Gods trail for a 4km linear walk with fantastic coastal views. The rocky terrain has ups and downs, classified as Level 2/3 difficulty with breaks for water and snacks. Come back to the hotel for a regional lunch.

The itinerary and guide were great easily, worth 5 stars. My two quibbles were that they were not at all clear that the choice of activities on the free day came at a price and that the included return transfer was not until 4 pm with earlier departures costing extra. To be fair, the extra costs were the true costs of the busses so while it was annoying it was not a dishonest money grab. They should just be more clear up front. The reason for the solid 4 stars was that the hotel was 3-4 stars. The room was small by US standards but normal by European standards, very clean, and well equipped. The description of the dining room indicated that a chef would serve local favorites, "specializing in seafood". The dinner offerings were heavy on pasta (both the "salad course" and first course) with very little seafood and were decent. The biggest issue was the service. The pool area bar was sporadically staffed and I am still not certain whether there was meant to be table service. The dining room was completely understaffed with 2-3 servers responsible for about 80 patrons. To be clear, they worked extremely hard. There were just not enough of them. Also, I suspect that the kitchen was not capable of that volume and as a result dinner was usually a 3 hour slog with courses coming out at 45-60 minute intervals. I would suggest staggering the seatings. Also, the room got hot and stuffy, which a few more open windows and some ceiling fans would fix (we were there in September with 80-95 degree F days and 65-70 degree nights). The breakfast buffet was good, better than typical in US economy hotels, but not great. The hot eggs and bacon or sausage, which were excellent when you got them, were not replenished and often out by 8:30 am. They did have eggs and boiling water for self serve hard or soft boiled eggs.

This was an amazing tour and the sights were spectacular.. The town we stayed in was centrally located so we didn’t have to change hotels from day to day, and ultimately saved us time traveling for each daily tour. The tours were well organized and our tour leader was excellent. The smaller group size made it much easier to manage so we weren’t always trying to figure out who was on the bus and who was missing. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in seeing the Amalfi Coast.

Overall, the tour was very good and the Exodus tour guide Veriano was good. A few complaints - we were left at Naples airport for almost 2 hours before boarding tour bus to hotel due to 1 group member being late. Also, tour guide needs to walk more slowly during tours around crowded, congested areas, as some members walked slower or stopped to take photos and had hard time keeping up with him.

Veriano was an excellent guide . He was very attentive and looked after us .He was also friendly and had a wry sense of humour . Well done !!! The tours were so well chosen and organised . It would have been nice to go to Vesuvius but it was a busy day with Ercolano and Pompei . My favourite was Ravello with the tour of Gore Vidal’s ex villa la Rondinaia my high point . I had been wanting to visit for years. The guides there were friendly and knowledgeable . Then the tour to Villa Cimbrone completed the experience . Veriano organised it and made sure I could find it and picked me up afterwoods . I finished with a wine at Villa Maria and their wonderful view of the valley leading to the sea. The family hotel Due Torri was magic . The family very warm and welcoming in the True Italian

The tours were wonderfully organized and thoroughly enjoyable. We got to see and experience everything that was promised. Our guide was informative and made sure everyone in our group was well taken care of and comfortable. The hike on the Path of the Gods was a bit challenging, and we could have been better informed, as we were told it would be easy. As a result, several people turned back. The hotel was clean, and the staff was very pleasant. Unfortunately, the dinners were not very good, with limited choices and not up to the quality we’ve experienced in Italy before. For several in our group, this was their first time in Italy, and they were quite disappointed with the food. We assured them that this is not typical. Overall, we recommend this tour, but you may want to dine at local restaurants some evening.

The guides at the sites we visited all talked way too much. Difficult to enjoy the sights and to try to experience them when the guides are talking all the time. Itinerary changed as we spent an entire day at Ravello, with absolutely no reason given. We lost a half free day to spend time at a place that was worth only a half day's visit. The tour guide, not the other guides I mentioned, also stayed with us at each site for an hour. We are competent adults, who once at a location, should be able to do our own sightseeing. Hotel's food as minimally adequate.

Can you please provide more details as to how the airport pick up would work? Do we need to book a certain flight that lands at a certain time/day. What if there are delays with the flight?

    Flights / Transfers
    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten September 2025

Exodus provides one group arrival transfer from the airport, which is timed to coincide with the arrival of a chosen flight from London, UK (19hrs). You may join this transfer at no extra cost, provided you can be at the airport before the transfer leaves. Additionally, there are two more shared airport transfers to Hotel Due Torri, which can be booked for an extra cost. It's possible to reach the start hotel by public transport, but the journey is complicated. We therefore recommend joining the group transfer where possible.
