We were very well looked after and with Pete and Francis we had both a great guide and a safe driver. Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, it was always tasty and varied. The trekking and excursion tours were well organized and varied.Show more

The Uganda portion was excellent. Great guides, good food, no complaints other than it involves a lot of driving, but of course there's no way around that unless you fly on your own. Highly recommend Acacia for the portion they operate.
Unfortunately the local operator they used for the Mara was pretty miserable. The vans they used were incredibly uncomfortable and woefully inadequate for the terrain. We missed some viewing opportunities because of how slow they drove. Unless Acacia starts using operators with better vehicles I cannot recommend doing the Masai Mara portion with them, you would be better off booking your own.Show more

Great tour guide (Crispen) and great driver (Ben)! I experienced a lot of new things, and both Crispen and Ben learned me so many new things. They led us to incredible animals, beautiful landscapes and they made the journey both interesting and comfortable. Two amazing persons, whom I recommend to everyone elseShow more

What are more details about the accommodations? I am celiac/gluten free, would I be able to accommodate my allergy on this tour? Are there any upgrades available for lodging?

Are any visas required to be filled out on this trip or throughout this tour?
We do accept and cater to Gluten Free/Celiac dietary needs. The variety of alternatives (and specialised gluten free substitutes) may not be quite what one is used to back home however. There indeed may be the opportunity to "upgrade-as-you-go", meaning that upon arrival to a campsite/establishment you can enquire directly with Reception for room options and availability and pay the difference for an upgrade locally and directly.
Visa requirements are dependent on your Nationality and Passport. We do not specialise in visas so it is best to check with the relevant embassies and consulates accordingly. You will likely need to obtain a visa for Kenya before travel. Majority of other countries will issue a visa upon arrival, but again best to check with official sites in relation to your passport/nationality.

I would like to spend several days in Cape Town before the start of the tour. Is there a specific location where the tour will start, so that I can find a hotel near that location.

In the 'What's Included' section of the Full Itinerary and Trip Details, it states that there will be 51 nights of twin share accomodation. Since I will be traveling solo, will I have an option for solo accomodation or will Acadia assign a 'roomate' or will I be able to choose my 'roomate'?
Cape Town start point is the Cresta Grande Hotel which is centrally located in the city. We do not have 2026 rates yet but we can assist with booking if you wish us to help that way. (alternatively you are welcome to make your own pre tour arrangements and join us at the Cresta on morning of departure.)
We will match you up with another passenger of the same sex. If we have no other solo travellers in the group then you will have a room or tent (if you choose the camping version) to yourself.

I am disappointed that solo accomodations are not offered for this trip. I am retiring on 7-31-25 and was hoping this trip could be a 'retirment gift'. I may need to re-evaluate my plans. This trip is probably the most expensive trip that Tour Radar offers in Africa. In addition to the cost, I think it is alot to ask someone to share accomodations with someon that they do not know for 56 days. Please explain the rationale for that position. Also, are there similar African trips that would offer solo accomodations.

With respect to the Adventure Pass, I don't understand the cost for selected park entries. Which selected park entries are you referring to and why doesn't the price of the tour include all parks?
Accommodation is twin share because it allows us to run more efficiently and to use a number of independently operated properties which have few (if any) single rooms.
Park fees, hiring local vehicles and guides, excursions - all payable locally. It is one reason we ask that it is paid direct in USD cash to the tour leader, so he (or she) can use it to pay to the suppliers used.
The Adventure Pass includes: Okavango Delta overnight excursion; Chobe National Park gamedrive and cruise; South Luangwa gamedrive; Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater 2 night excursion; Lake Nakuru National Park entry and gamedrive.

What exactly means twin share accommodation? Is it in hotel or guest house?
Solo passengers will share a twin-bed room (2 x single beds) with a fellow solo passenger of the same gender. The accommodation is mostly guest rooms at a tourist class, backpackers or lodge/hotel. This tour does have some camping nights - whereby there is no accommodation in the area - tents and equipment will be provided.

I would like to do a tour like this with my 85 year old father. he is more than capable of treks etc do you take this age
Adventure tours are not applicable in this case. Acacia Adventure Tour ages: 18 - 75 years. We do offer Small Group Tours which can accommodate you both, these range from 7 to 14 days in length and primarily visit Kruger National Park, South Africa - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Okavango Delta, Botswana.
Every Acacia Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
