We were very well looked after and with Pete and Francis we had both a great guide and a safe driver. Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, it was always tasty and varied. The trekking and excursion tours were well organized and varied.Show more

The Uganda portion was excellent. Great guides, good food, no complaints other than it involves a lot of driving, but of course there's no way around that unless you fly on your own. Highly recommend Acacia for the portion they operate.
Unfortunately the local operator they used for the Mara was pretty miserable. The vans they used were incredibly uncomfortable and woefully inadequate for the terrain. We missed some viewing opportunities because of how slow they drove. Unless Acacia starts using operators with better vehicles I cannot recommend doing the Masai Mara portion with them, you would be better off booking your own.Show more

Great tour guide (Crispen) and great driver (Ben)! I experienced a lot of new things, and both Crispen and Ben learned me so many new things. They led us to incredible animals, beautiful landscapes and they made the journey both interesting and comfortable. Two amazing persons, whom I recommend to everyone elseShow more

A few questions, really. I'm comparing the camping and full accommodation options. What size are the tents, and do I get my own or do I share? Are sleeping mats or mattresses provided? How thick are they? back issue? Do you supply thicker mat or chair for extra comfort? Is there help available with setting up/taking down tents if needed? What are the bathroom and shower facilities like at the campsites? Are there opportunities to do laundry along the way? Are meals prepared by a crew, or does the group participate in cooking? Do you cater for dietary needs (e.g. vegetarian, low-sodium)? Are there tables/seats to eat, or is it ground-style dining? What's the average age range on this tour? it says 18-75 - what is typical? Are there long drive days, and how frequent are rest stops? Do you offer rest days or opportunities to skip an activity for some downtime? Can I choose accommodation on certain nights instead of camping? Are there 'emergency upgrades' available if I need a break from the tent? What's the expected weather for this time of year? I'm looking at July-Aug, 2026 Are campsites generally flat and shaded? Anything else I should know?
To answers your questions: 2-man Canvas tents with built in mosquito netting. Solo clients will share with a fellow solo passenger of the same gender. No single supplements applicable. Sleeping mattresses are provided. About 4cm in thickness. Back Issue: suggest booking Accommodated Tour. Each passenger is allocated 1x sleeping mattress, 1 x standard truck and 1x standard camping chair. The Tour Leader will do a demonstration and guide you on set up/dismantling and packing. Bathroom facilities are communal (gender based generally), clean but rustic. Tour Leader will advise on laundry opportunities. All Adventure tours are Participatory in nature. Clients will need to assist with meal prep, and cleaning. We cater for Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten/Lactose Intolerant. The Truck is equipped with Tables for set-up/buffet style and camping chairs for dining. Ages vary, from 18-75 years. Typical: 30 - 66 years. Yes, there are long drive days. Rest stops will be communicated ahead of time by the Tour Leader. You may opt to not partake in optional activities and have that time as leisure time. You can 'upgrade-as-you-go' at campsites, subject to availability. Emergency upgrades will be for your own account. Peak Season, not too hot and not too wet. The majority of campsites are flat and shaded, unless in desert or other remote locations.

I am looking into booking this trip and having another tour booked starting on the 23rd in the Seychelles. The only flight that makes this possible departs at 7:10 pm on the last day of the tour (Nov 22). The itinerary says only late afternoon, was trying to see if catching this flight would be possible.
We cannot be sure how quickly border formalities will be completed. We are not allowed to drop clients at the airport. Jomo Kenyatta International (Nairobi) has a 3-hour check in time for international departures so for a 19h10 flight you need to be there at (around) 16h10. We cannot promise to get into Nairobi in time for you to taxi out to the airport and make your flight.
Acacia Adventures use 2-person dome tents with fly sheets, sewn-in groundsheets, zip-up insect screens and foam mattresses. Acacia mainly use campsites, which usually have reasonable wash and shower facilities, electricity points and sometimes even a small shop, bar or swimming pool. In the Okavango Delta on day 14 Acacia use twin share pre-erected tents with basic en-suite facilities. In the Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater there are basic facilities. On Zanzibar Acacia use basic tourist class local hotels.
Every Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
