What people love about Budapest Tours
- Taste of Eastern Europe
There isn't a tour without a Great tour guide and Luke is la creme de la creme of tour guides. He made everything so easy and fun. Sometimes I forgot he was the guide because he was just one of us, exploring each location with wondered eyes. I called him my personal Jesus because he looks like Jesus in the movies and when I got lost in Slovenia and couldn't find the bus meeting spot, he came to find me and the sight of him that day was literally like seeing Jesus for me. What a cool dude. I'm a frequent EE traveler and all the guides are wonderful but Luke is definitely the icing on the cake. He deserves all the good things your company has to offer.

Overall, we had a good experience with the operator and we were in communication with the operation team the whole time in case we needed something through the tour, which we appreciated. Really recommend them!

What are the must-visit attractions in Budapest for first-time visitors?
First-time visitors will find Budapest's key sights concentrated along the Danube River. The neo-Gothic Parliament Building stands as the city's most recognized landmark with its ornate spires and riverside location. The Castle District houses both Buda Castle and Matthias Church combining medieval architecture with modern restoration. St. Stephen's Basilica draws visitors for its impressive dome and religious significance while Heroes' Square represents Hungarian history through its monumental statues. The Fisherman's Bastion provides elevated views across the Danube to Pest. A TourRadar traveler noted "The city marvels with its grand architecture and enchanting mix of European & Asian influences with a scale that rivals Paris." Most guided tours include these destinations with stops near the InterContinental Budapest.
What are the best areas to stay in Budapest for first-time visitors?
The Castle District and District V (Belváros) serve as the most convenient bases for exploring Budapest. Hotel Danubius Hungaria City Center in District V puts visitors within walking distance of major sites including St. Stephen's Basilica the Chain Bridge and Parliament. The streets around Váci utca buzz with activity. According to TourRadar travelers this area is "perfect for exploring the historic sites and enjoying the local restaurants." The Jewish Quarter on the Pest side appeals to night owls with its ruin bars emerging food scene and direct access to public transportation.
What's the best way to experience Budapest's thermal baths?
Budapest's thermal bath culture centers on the Szechenyi Baths in City Park where 18 pools ranging from warm to hot provide year-round relaxation. Visitors should plan for 3-4 hours to fully experience the facilities arriving early morning or after 4 pm to avoid peak crowds. One TourRadar visitor shared "Relaxing in Szechenyi Thermal Spa was a highlight of our trip especially after a morning of sightseeing." The Art Nouveau Gellert Baths next to Gellert Hotel offer a more intimate setting with their decorated halls and therapeutic waters.
What is the best time of year to visit Budapest?
Budapest sees its highest visitor numbers from June through August when warm weather draws crowds to outdoor cafes and riverside walks. The shoulder seasons of April-May and September-October offer milder temperatures and fewer tourists making these months ideal for exploring thermal baths and walking tours. A TourRadar visitor reported "The weather in September was perfect for exploring both Buda and Pest sides of the city." December brings traditional Christmas markets to Vorosmarty Square though temperatures often drop below freezing.
How do I get around Budapest efficiently?
Budapest's integrated transit network connects all major sites through metros trams and buses. The historic Metro Line 1 serves as a tourist route itself linking Heroes' Square to the Opera House. Visitors can purchase a Budapest Card or 72-hour pass for unlimited rides.
