A month late writing the review! My wife and I had a wonderful e-biking tour w/ Alb Expeditions, first e-biking trip as part of a 12 person group from California. Our guide Arjan was first rate: Great attitude, kept things light and fun, communicated well, and handled the logistics smartly. His curation of cycling routes, hotels, and restaurants were first rate. The typical day was nicely staged: breakfast, ride, coffee, ride, lunch, ride, arrive at our destination late afternoon and have a couple of (happy) hours till a fine dinner either at our lodgings or a nearby restaurant. E-bikes let you dial the workout up/down with a touch of a button. The weather mid-May was perfect I would recommend travel at that time. Our route took us through stunning mountain/valley routes and similarly special coastal routes, a fun mix. Roads we were on were lightly traveled and motorists were courteous, plenty of horses/cows/sheep/goats and wide green valleys for the eyes. We took a couple of rest days. There are natural scenic sites and historic sites that are perfect side-trips. We took the ferry from Saranda to Corfu and had a fun day trip. I like my history but was not prepared for what a historical crossroads Albania was! From Roman empire to Middle Ages to Ottoman empire to Post WWII Eastern Block there is quite a bit worth grabbing an eyeful of. Last point: I found the restaurants, local wine and accommodations first rate, and notably affordable! I'm sure the good news is traveling so this next half decade to decade might be a sweet spot for visiting Albania!

I had a good experience with this tour. The itinerary had a great diversity of sightseeing spots and activities. Driver/tour guide Andi made the journey through Albania comfortably and safe. The travel companions in the small group (me + a couple) were sweet and lovely as well. I made wonderful memories and got a good overview of what this country has to offer. My only suggestion would be to make one of the nights closer/nearby the sea/beach. A few hours stop at the coast felt too short. I definitely recommend to visit Albania and this tour is a great way to get a little of everything.

Albania's cultural mosaic extends from Freddy's Hotel in Tirana to hilltop Rozafa Castle in Shkodër. The 2nd-century amphitheater in Durres, UNESCO-listed Berat's 2400-year-old castle, and Butrint's ancient ruins tell centuries-old stories. Best time to visit Albania
- Summer 2026
Summer brings out the best of Albania's mountain possibilities. The Theth to Valbona route tops our list - you'll stay with local families in traditional houses and try their home-cooked mountain dishes. The Lake Koman cruise takes you between massive cliff walls before you head into valleys with clear running rivers. Along the coast, we mix time at Butrint's ancient site with swims at Ksamil's turquoise beaches. Our travelers really connect with the sustainable approach - staying at family farms up in the hills and joining local craft sessions. They often tell us how much they value the mix of hiking, cultural experiences and also traditional hospitality.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn creates perfect conditions for walking in Albania's mountains - clear skies and comfortable temperatures make it ideal. The trails through Valbona National Park are particularly good now, with golden beech forests and sharp mountain views. Our cultural routes let you explore Gjirokaster's Ottoman buildings and visit wineries during harvest. The coastal paths work well through October, and our travelers mention enjoying the quieter atmosphere at places like Apollonia and also Butrint. Many pick combined routes that mix walks in the Accursed Mountains with stops at medieval monasteries and also traditional villages.

- Winter 2026 / 2027
Winter in Albania opens up a different side of our cultural routes, with both indoor and outdoor experiences that work well in the cooler months. The Onufri Museum inside Berat Castle stays cozy, and we've found our guests really appreciate warming up with local families who serve traditional meals in their homes. The thermal springs near Permet have become a winter favorite. Gjirokastra's stone streets are perfect for small walking groups, and many of our travelers tell us they love having Butrint's ancient ruins almost to themselves this time of year. The mountain scenery takes on its own character in winter, and we've balanced comfortable places to stay with deep dives into the local history.

- Spring 2027
Spring hits the sweet spot for cycling in Albania - you'll find mild weather and wildflowers scattered across the countryside. Our more experienced riders take on the route from Lake Ohrid through the Grammoz Mountains, including that solid climb up Barmash Pass at 1,159 meters. There are gentler options along the Ionian coast where you can roll between historic spots and take coffee breaks in fishing villages. Many travelers pick our cultural circuits connecting Kruja's old bazaar, the Roman amphitheater in Durres and also UNESCO-listed Berat. Looking through April feedback, our customers consistently mention perfect exploring weather with fewer crowds and great photo chances.
