VATO was really good. My sister and i went to Albania during off season and it was quite hard for us to get a tour company that could accommodate us especially that we were only 2 people. Isuf from VATO responded really quickly when we messaged through TourRadar and was able to make amendments to the main itinerary to suit our needs and preference. We literally contacted him on Friday afternoon, he rovided additional info, sorted all the changes and quotes by Saturday morning and we were on the tour getting picked up from the airport on Sunday morning, we really appreciated the efficiency and reliance we could place on the company. We did a 7 day tour round South albania - we took the 6 day tour but asked to add the blue eye and additional day to visit the Benja thermal baths. Our tour guide Olsi was really great. He was knowledgeable about the places we visited being able to give us more thorough information beyond the texts we see in the museums and was good in providing us an insight in the current life in Albania. It was a really nice experience. Olsi was also from Berat itself and gave us a really special experience in Berat, bringing us to local areas for good food (he had chef training previously and therefore a fellow foodie himself) and also to a really nice local place for raki where the a couple operated from their house itself and came out to sit and talk with us too while we were there. It was really nice. Olsi also isn't pushy with timelines etc, he allows us to go at our own pace but gives us the best experiences/opportunities with the time that he has - like if we left a little late from a place on our own account, he would try his best to adjust the schedule to see what we can best see with the time and daylight we have (given its near winter and daylight was short) - be weather it was racing round catch a sunset or swapping round activities to accommodate the weather etc. Overall a very enjoyable experience and given the circumstanceswe were in, Olsi and VATO did a really great job and we really appreciate that. Thanks.
Albanian Highlights|6-Day Private Tour Across AlbaniaWe have just completed a 6 day tour with Local Friends Albania. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and we learned so much about Albania. Our driver Zeni was very caring and attentive and looked after everything for us. Zeni is a character and is very knowledgeable. The tour was well organised and the accomodation was good. I would recommend Local Friends Albania to other travellers
Exploring Albania: A 6-Day Private Tour of Nature, Culture, and AdventureVery happy with the 4 day tour of Albania. Our tour guide/driver Giulio had a very broad knowledge and understanding of Albanian history and culture. It was a private tour with just my husband and tour guide which we appreciated as the tour was flexible to our needs. Giulio provided interesting information about each area we visited and gave us ample free time to explore on our own. We also appreciated his confident and safe driving as well as his easy going and good company. Accommodation was of a very high standard and well located, some with great views. The hotel in Berat was within the castle walls which was lovely. All hotels provided a quality breakfast. Thank you to Friends Of Albania for a well organised, interesting tour with very good communication at all times.
