12 Days in the Balkans, incl. Tirana and Theth
Challenging trails link 9 Albanian cities from Tirana to remote mountain villages over 12 days. Daily hikes cover 10-21km, including Theth National Park, Valbona Valley, and Çerem. Traditional guesthouse stays complement challenging ascents reaching 2366m elevation.

- Days 1-2
Tirana & Theth National Park
Your journey starts in Tirana with an orientation meeting. The next morning you'll drive north to Theth, climbing up to Qafa e Thores (1,700m). "The view of the Albanian Alps from this pass is absolutely breathtaking," according to a recent visitor. In Theth you'll hike to the Blue Eye waterfall (18km round trip) with a 700m elevation gain. A local tip: You can take transport to Nderlysaj (5-7 EUR) to cut the hike down to 2 hours.

- Days 3-4
Valbona Valley & Cerem
The Theth to Valbona trek is a highlight (14km, 1,050m elevation gain, 6-8 hours). One reviewer noted: "The view from Valbona Pass offers spectacular views of both valleys – perfect for photos but bring warm layers as it gets windy up top." The next day takes you to Cerem (20km, 7.5 hours), a remote shepherd village. There's no electricity or WiFi but the authentic hospitality and home-cooked meals make up for it.

- Days 5-6
Doberdol & Kosovo
Your path crosses into Montenegro on the way to Doberdol (15km, 6.5 hours). Look for wild berries along the pine forest trails during season. Pack warm clothes for the 1,800m elevation nights. The next day you'll get to stand in three countries at once at Tromedja peak before heading down into Kosovo.

- Days 7-8
Montenegro: Babino Polje & Plav
- Days 9-10
