Our Budapest & the Balkans tour is a Basix style trip, meaning that all of the accommodation and transportation as well as the services of your trip leader are included in the trip costing. There may be an included experience here or there, but the trip will focus more on flexibility and being able to pick and choose your experience while travelling in the form of the optional activities.

I'll be having this trip with my 78 year old mother. At her age, is this trip suitable?

The age limit of 70 is just a recommendation, if the traveller is physically fit and healthy with young at heart mindset this tour will be fine. You might be required to fill out a tour suitability form as well.

Amazing tour!!!! The tour leader was one of the most fun leaders I have seen. She had so much energy and warmness. Many of the destinations on this tour were not the typical tourist type places, but that was refreshing. I especially enjoyed Sarajevo. In fact the whole tour was worth it because of this unexpected beautiful city. I would love to have spent more time there. Kotor was also especially beautiful! I highly recommend a hike to the mountains for a view over the town and a swim in the lake. If you decide to visit these countries I strongly recommend researching about the history before hand. A small group of people on the day trip in Sarajevo did not listen to the guide and missed out through not understanding the places visited. I felt bad for the guide as he did an amazing job to explain the difficult very recent history of the country. I read the book ‘The Cellist of Sarajevo’ before I visited, which helped add more context to my historical knowledge of the region.Show more

Aside from those subjective things, I felt like although the trip was quite fast-paced, we were able to spend a good amount of time in each city and it was a very well organized trip. Our itinerary was supposed to include two legs of rail travel. Instead, all legs were by mini bus - 15 people crammed in a small bus. This was one of the negatives. Secondly, the accommodation was good overall with the exception of the hostel in Belgrade. The room we were assigned smelled heavily of smoking although the sign said no smoking. This was unpleasant. It was also our worst accommodation in terms of cleanliness and furniture - old carpets, stained furniture, torn curtains and blinds. Therefore, no 1.Show more
