  1. Day 1

    Johannesburg to Vilanculos

    You'll fly from Johannesburg down to Vilanculos, a coastal town where you'll check in at your beachfront hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax on white sand beaches and take in the Indian Ocean views. In the evening, head to a local restaurant for Mozambican cuisine and dinner.

  2. Day 2

    Vilanculos

    Start by checking out the local market and historic streets of this former slave-trading port. If you're interested, there's an option to take a traditional dhow ferry across the bay with a local guide. Later, you'll travel by truck to Casa Cabana Beach for dinner and stay overnight there.

    Bazuruto Archipelago

    You'll board a traditional dhow early in the morning to explore the Bazuruto Archipelago, one of southern Africa's largest marine reserves. Spend the day walking around the islands and enjoying the beaches. After returning at noon, you'll have time to rest before the overnight stay at Casa Cabana Beach.

  4. Day 4

    Vilanculos to Maputo

    After breakfast at your hotel, you'll transfer to the airport for the flight to Maputo. Once you land, your guide meets you and takes you directly to your hotel. You'll have dinner there and spend the night.

  5. Day 5

    Inhaca Island

    A boat transfer to Inhaca Island happens in the morning (timing depends on the tides, so you'll get exact pickup details from your hotel). Light breakfast is served on the way over. The day allows for beach relaxation or walking around the island, and lunch features fresh fish at whatever time works for you. On the return journey, you'll stop by Portuguese Island before getting back to Maputo between 4 pm and 4:30 pm.

    Maputo City Tour

    Starting at 9:00 am, you'll explore Maputo's main attractions including the historic iron house, natural gardens, and the Great Fish Market where fresh seafood and local beer are available. Then head to Feima to check out local art and culture with time for shopping and photos. Late lunch arrives with live music playing, and you're back at your hotel by evening.

  8. Days 8 - 9

    Lusaka to South Luangwa National Park

    You'll fly from Lusaka to Mfuwe and transfer to a campground near South Luangwa National Park. Over the next two days, professionally guided game drives let you look for elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, hyenas, impalas, and buffaloes. You might also spot Thornicroft's giraffes, which are found only in this park. Night drives and optional walking safaris are available if you're interested.

In the evening, there's a private sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River, and the camp has swimming available with views of the water.

    The morning at camp gives you time to relax before heading to the airstrip for your flight to Lusaka, then onward to Victoria Falls. Later in the evening, you'll board the Zambezi Explorer, a solar-powered cruise boat on the Zimbabwe side. The boat heads toward Palm Island and Kandahar Island while you spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds, with snacks and premium beverages included throughout.

    Hwange to Matopos National Park

    After an early breakfast, you'll head south toward Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city. Around noon, your guide takes you through Matopos National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2003. The park has both black and white rhinoceros and distinctive rocky terrain that gave the area its Ndebele name meaning 'Matobo.'

    The guides were excellent as were accommodations . I thought I was going to be on a small group tour but was alone most of the trip . I would have preferred a group as travel in Namibia entails many very long drives . A group trip would have provided conversation and company during those long drives .

For tours departing after April 23rd, 2026, a minimum payment of 30% is required to confirm your booking with Across Africa Tours & Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 100 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
