The itinerary includes a detailed day-by-day safari program covering game drives in the national parks, park fees, professional English-speaking guide, private 4x4 safari vehicle, accommodation as per the program and all meals during the safari (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Accommodation is in carefully selected lodges/tented camps depending on the package category (mid-range or luxury).

Yes, I would agree January–February and August–September are both excellent periods for wildlife viewing and photography in Tanzania. The difference comes down to what you want to photograph and how you prefer the landscape and conditions. January–February (Early Year) Best for: calving season, dramatic wildlife behavior, greener scenery This is the calving season in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu area. Thousands of wildebeest give birth, which attracts predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas excellent for action and predator photography. The landscape is lush and green, offering beautiful backgrounds. Fewer tourists compared to peak season, allowing for more relaxed game drives. Birdlife is outstanding, with migratory birds present. Ideal if you want: intimate wildlife moments, newborn animals, predator interactions, and vibrant green scenery. August–September (Later Year) Best for: river crossings, high animal concentration, classic safari scenes This period is famous for the Great Migration river crossings in the northern Serengeti. Wildlife gathers around rivers and permanent water sources, making animals easier to spot. The dry season means short grass and dusty plains, which are perfect for clear, classic wildlife photography. Very reliable sightings of big cats and large herds. Ideal if you want: dramatic river crossings, large herds, and iconic dry-season safari photographs So… when should you come? In short both periods are excellent the "best" time really depends on the style of wildlife photography you're most excited about. I'd be happy to tailor the itinerary specifically around your photography goals.

The best time to see the Great Migration depends on what part you want to see. If you want to see the famous river crossings in the Serengeti, the best time to visit is between July and October.

Is it possible to not take the hot air balloon? We have a fear of heights.

Things to know: Pack the following: Malaria Preventative pills, bug spray, hat, suntan lotion, swimsuit, sneakers or hiking shoes, a hoodie/jacket for nighttime when it's cool. Also, you need way more cash than you think you need. Most restaurants, cafes, shops - only take cash. No credit cards. Also I visited three different indigenous groups and wanted to purchase items form them but again it's all cash. US dollars accepted everywhere. So is Euro. Airport Arrival: Easy to locate Zara rep., just past luggage pickup. Driver to hotel was welcoming and capable despite a rainstorm. Also I arrived at 3AM but the Zara rep was there with my name on the sign. Hotel One (In Moshe): Welcoming, excellent staff, cafe with espresso on weekdays, good food. Ground floor or one flight up for rooms. Hotel is walled in, safe and secure. Felt comfortable as a female solo traveler. Visited the school which I recommend (you can book this through the hotel). Hotel Two (Highview): Welcoming, excellent staff. Exceptional food. Climb to room is about 3 to 4 steep flights. Then there's another flight if you're on the top floor. Request a ground floor room as this is still 3 to 4 flights. If difficulties with this, request another hotel in advance. Other than the climb to the room, this was a superb hotel. Staff will carry your bags up and down. There's a pool and gift shop. Hotel is a little bit out of the way but worth the drive. Do your laundry at this hotel. They have the best laundry facilities of all the places you'll stay. Hotel Three (Serengetti Lodge) Spacious luxurious room including a bath tub and an outside shower. Woke up to elephants outside my porch. Use your mosquito net. Food is excellent. Staff superb. My main staff member was Rashidi who I highly recommend. He took care of everything for me. You might have a hike to your room depending on location. One flight and then a mild hill to where mine was located. And you have to have someone walk you to your room at night from the dining area due to the animals. I did see a hyena at night so - don't walk alone at night. Pool on site. Location is perfect. Just a short drive and you're surrounded by all the animals. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat but there is no ATM for miles. And you'll need cash for tipping as well as purchasing items from indigenous groups. Be sure to pick cash up in Moshe or Arusha before the drive to the park. Hotel 4 (Ngorro Campsite and facility) - this is like glamping. Use your mosquito net at night. Food is good. Service good. It was an extremely steep hill to my room. I could not get the bag up by myself when leaving and had to have help. Your tent will be enormous with a living room, bathroom, shower area and bedroom. Extension Zanzibar: I had issues with both these hotels but not with Zanzibar itself. I highly recommend going to Zanzibar but staying elsewhere and booking tours through Viator or Trip Advisor. That being said, the staff at both hotels were good, food was good and the tour guides were fine. BUT me and several other guests had issues with our bookings. Many of us were asked to change rooms/hotels mid-stay. Hotels admitted fault and overbooking so this isn't Zara. In general, both hotels had management issues. I recommend staying closer to Stone Town and booking tours via viator. You can get an airport transport through your hotel. Lastly, my guide for mainland Tanzania was named Israel and he was an exceptional guide. He was also my driver and I felt safe and looked after the entire time. In general, the itinerary and tour itself was magical and way more than I expected for the money. Highly recommend. You should book!Show more

I must express my gratitude to Patrick for his meticulous organization of the trip, which featured a well-structured schedule. Our guide Shaban was exceptional and very attentive. We experienced incredible wildlife sightings and breathtaking landscapes across Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. It was our first time in Africa, and our trip expectations were very high. We are happy to report that everything occurred as indicated in the itinerary and was organized in an impeccable way. The lodges and tented camps turned out to be lovely places where we enjoyed our evenings, in wonderful locations, had delicious meals, relaxed in comfortable rooms, and enjoyed hearty breakfasts between the epic safari drives with our guide Tarimo. We owe the incredible experiences to him, as he knew the parks very well and all the places where we wouldn't miss the animals. We saw many different animals, including some elusive encounters with a leopard and wild dogs. In the end, we can only say that everything surpassed all our expectations.Show more

I have no hesitations in recommending Zara Tanzania Adventure to everyone visiting Tanzania for a safari. We were paired with an incredible guide, Shaban, who charmed us with his vast knowledge of nature, intelligence, and wit. Every day in the parks brought us unforgettable wildlife encounters. We saw all the Big Five plus a multitude of many other animals. It was a fun trip that took us through a mix of habitats, including the Ngorongoro highlands, which get quite chilly in the evenings, so make sure to include warm clothes. We chose Zara Tours because of the many great reviews and indeed words do not do justice to the actual experiences. Our guide Tarimo was incredibly amazing. His vast knowledge of the parks and expertise in tracking wild game greatly enhanced our experience. We saw lots of wild animals including lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, warthogs, flamingos, hyenas, wildebeest, zebras, monkeys and many stunning landscapes. The booking experience with Zayina of Zara Tours was perfect. We chose Tanzania after touring Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda last year, and we are completely satisfied with our experience in Tanzania, having received excellent value for our money. Our guide, Shaban, was very experienced and well-versed in the three parks we visited - Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. He knew the routes expertly and drove the 4x4 skillfully along the park trails, leading us to many close encounters with wildlife. At one point, we literally had a cheetah right on top of our car, which then calmly walked off and disappeared behind the tall grass in the Serengeti. We were very impressed by Shaban's knowledge of the animals, including the birds and plants we observed. We loved the choice of accommodations in and near the parks. Our selected favorites included the Serengeti Safari Lodge, Ngorongoro Wild Camp, and Highview Hotel. They were all impressive, featuring great food, amazing rooms, and excellent service.Show more

We are sure that having Mmari as our guide made all the difference because he made the time we spent together memorable. we had many wildlife encounters where he taught a lot about the particular animal and answered all our questions. The trip went smoothly thanks to a great team back at office who took care of all the planning and logistics. We were well taken care of throughout the entire trip.
