I am trying to plan a 2-4 day packrafting trip for my girlfriend and I. I saw your posting that includes other exciting activities we would also be interested in. I would like to understand how the rafting works, do you provide the rafts or do we bring our own packrafts? Also, we are most comfortable in class I-III water. Would it be possible to portage around class IV? Additionally, I am planning on proposing during the trip. Would a guide be willing to help me take photos of the proposal?

The rafting equipment is provided by us, along with all the necessary equipment for the biking, rafting, and zipline activities, so you would not need to bring your own packrafts. The rafting section included in this trip is Class III, and the area where the activity takes place is generally calm, so it should be suitable for your comfort level. There are no Class IV rapids included in the rafting activity. Regarding your proposal — how exciting! Our guide will be with you during the trip and would be happy to assist with taking photos of the special moment. We have also had travellers propose at Machu Picchu itself, so that could be a very memorable option as well.

Is it safe to travel to Cusco in March?

Given that this tour involves being in the jungle and the water, just wondering about risks of catching diseases from mosquitos and animals (e.g., dengue, rabies)

Can the dates at all be modified to accommodate from March 11th to the 14th? Also to confirm this package includes hotel, zip lining and water rafting or is that at an additional cost?

The tour in and of itself was excellent. Non-stop breath taking views for four days, a quite challenging hike and the Grand Finale, Machu Picchu. Our tour guide, Vicente Chacmana Barrientos was amazing. As I struggled with breathing in the high altitude he encouraged me all the way. On day two right after we reached our highest altitude I twisted my ankle. This made hiking down the quarry very difficult. Vicente wrapped my ankle and my opposite knee which also began hurting from the decent. He was running up and down the mountain back and forth a million times to make sure I was ok as well as the others in the group that were much faster. It was a lot and he did it with a smile and great attitude! I’m very appreciate of him and would highly recommend him and this tour if you’d like an unforgettable experience. I also highly recommend stopping in for a massage after your trek. It’s well worth it!!!Show more

  This tour includes basic accommodation. The towns where you stay are very small so the hostels are small and normally family-run hostels. The Machu Picchu Jungle Adventure is less hiking and more walking. You will walk in the jungle in the lowlands where there will be fewer views of any mountains. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is a moderately difficult hike, with a few long hiking days combined with multi-sport activities such as mountain biking, zip-lining, and/or river rafting. We recommend you be physically fit for the trip.

Rooms often share a bathroom and sometimes do not have hot water. However, you need to know that you are in the middle of a trek in the Peruvian mountains, so high end hotels are simply not available. However, we do always choose the best available option.
