- MARTIN· July 30th, 2024We did the 12 Days Best of Kenya and Tanzania Safari and we had some great experiences and we visited a number of iconic game parks. We had four different guides on our safari and three of them were excellent. The other guide was good but not very communicative.The game parks are out of this world and we saw sights that you can only see in Africa. The people were very friendly wherever we went and we felt very safe. We had three nights in a tent but otherwise the accommodation was good and the camp food was very good.We added two additional nights in Zanzibar which was not so good and we would not recommend it. The Zanzibar leg was badly communicated, we did not receive an itinerary and for some reason our tour operator only booked one way flights to Zanzibar. - SZSonja· November 25th, 2023I agree with an review by Norbert from 30.10.2023. We booked the so-called "Luxury Lodge Safari". However, there was very little that was luxurious about the safari. 1. cars were not in good condition. Car in Kenya was run down, tires without tread, garbage from previous drivers still to be found. Not suitable for safaris in the rainy season. Could not drive on some roads at all. Very bumpy ride. Transfer from the border to Arusha was more like a junk car. In Tanzania we at least had a suitable Landcruiser, but even that was of a poorer category. 2. communication before the booking went smoothly and was very friendly. After booking, I sometimes had to wait over a week for an answer. In addition, we were not informed in advance about changes to the program. I don't know whether this was the driver's job, but at least we only received sparse information and often had to chase after the answers, which is not much fun on vacation. Communication was rather poor. 3. our driver in Kenya was not very communicative. He sometimes gave wrong and dubious answers to questions. Unfortunately, he didn't always get the right angle for a good photo and was always in a hurry to get back on the road. Overall the route was very nice. Second driver was entertaining and took us to the animals. We also saw lots of animals. Lodges on average quite nice. Whether they were always luxurious is debatable. But overall they were fine. Everything was friendly so far, but didn't meet our expectations at all. Order is passed on to subcontractors, good ratings and "Gold Label" on Tourradar misleading. After our complaint on the first days, the company made an effort to accommodate us with some compensation (after repeated requests from our side), which we gratefully accepted and were pleased about. Best time to witness migration is July, August and September. The camps in Kenya are permanent tented camps, with beds and bedding, for serengeti amd Ngorongoro, the camps are basic tents, we put beddings on ground. There is an option of upgrading in Serengeti and Ngorongoro at extra cost.
