  i will be in Kampala on the 22nd/23rd of July and was wondering if it was possible to join from this point instead?

    I can check with our local team on if you can join a few days into the tour - they will be able to let us know where/when you may be able to meet up with the group. First - from the dates you've indicated below, it seems that you'd be looking to arrive either Day 5 or Day 6, is that right? Both of these days might be a bit tricker to join in on as you'll have to make your own way to where the group is and these spots are a bit more remote from Kampala. If you are able to join on Day 4 once the group arrives in Kampala, it may be the easiest entry point for you. One thing to mention as well, there are no refunds for unused services so we can look at having you join on whichever day but the price of the tour will still remain the same and it's your responsibility to make it to where the group is able to meet up.

    hi yes 22 is the soonest i could do, is the sleep in kampala/ what is the leaving time from the hotel? the 21st might be abit too soon

    Hi there sorry for the delay, im still thinking of joing but watching the current situation. are you guys still running over this same time (July 18th?) the 21st could also be possible when and where do the group meet and i will see if i can get there on time (easier if evening)

    Yes, as of now all our Uganda trips are still running as scheduled, including the 18th July departure, and the 21st July option is also available. There is an ongoing Ebola outbreak reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a small number of cases also in Uganda. We are closely monitoring the situation with guidance from global health authorities and government travel advisories. The safety of our travellers, teams, and local communities remains our top priority. To clarify, Intrepid does not operate trips in the DRC, and our Uganda itineraries are continuing to run as normal at this stage. However, this is a developing situation, and some countries may introduce entry or transit requirements such as screening or quarantine for travellers who have been in affected regions. We recommend checking your own government travel advice and any transit or onward travel requirements before you depart. Group meet-up is usually in the evening on Day 1 at the hotel, and full arrival instructions will be shared once your booking is confirmed.

  I can only find a 16day trip on thr Intrepid website but Touradar have a 27 day trip. I assume this combines 2 of your trips? Please could you give me more inmformation.

    Yes, Intrepid has this 27-day trip, and the 16-day alternative is called 'Gorillas & Game Parks' and is built in as part of this 27-day tour. The 27 day tour is made up of our 'Stone Town to Nairobi' and 'Gorillas & Game Parks' tours.

  What are additional cost i have to factor in apart from International flights (can you quote for flights from UK)? Do you have travel times on each destination? What is the accommodation at each place? Do you provide pick up drop off from start and end Journey?

    Airport transfers can be booked at an additional cost. We do not include the cost of international airfare, which allows our travellers to join the trip from their desired location.

    Having looked at the itinerary there are long days of travel and most over 5 to 7 hours as minimum, and so we may look at other options, and not this one

  Please describe the camping set up. Are these permanent tented camps that have an attached bathroom? Or is it a tent that is set up when we arrive with a common toilet facility some distance from the tent?

    In case you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, are you going to be wandering around the campsite alone, looking for a toilet? that wouldn't seem very safe.

    For the camping sections of this trip, there are options to upgrade which have private bathrooms inside. This will apply to all campsites apart from the Serengeti where no upgrades will be available but is flagged as a safe spot by the rangers. The shared washrooms are modern eco-friendly sanitary washrooms, and the camping grounds are well-lit.

    It means that eight people per day can only see each gorilla family. No one will miss visiting the gorillas because there are so many families.

    Is there any hidden additional costs to this trip such as Canadian Mandatory supplements of Mandatory Adventure Pass? Finally, does this overland trip offer an adventure accommodated tour or is it only possible in a camping tour?

    The costs you see outlined on the site are inclusive of all necessary passes, transport and included activities. The only things you would have to consider beyond the shown price would be visa costs, and travel to and from the start and end of the trip. This trip is only available as a basix camping trip. As such, the accommodations are the campsites noted on the itinerary pages.

  The itinerary lists a number of activities that are included but at the bottom in additional services it lists all these activities as extra. So are these activities in additional services included in the price.

    When looking at the inclusions for the tour, any of the additional services listed in the drop down next to the green tick are included in your tour. There will be optional day activities that can be booked and paid for in location that your trip leader will garner expressions of interest for in the days prior; however those listed on the tour page are already built into the itinerary.
