It was a good tour: think the accommodation could be better though for the price we paid. Small fans in large rooms don't work in hot weather. The meals were good. The guides were good & kept everything rolling. Didn't have much luck with the game viewing (except for elephants & hippos) but the mountain gorilla & chimpanzee treks were amazing. And these 2 excursions are what made the trip so good. (These kind of trips can be hit & miss. )Show more

  There is no published upper age limit for this G Adventures trip. The minimum age is 12, so at 72 you are eligible to travel, provided you are comfortable with the physical demands of the itinerary. The tour is rated 4 – Demanding. This is primarily because of the long overland journeys, some rough/bumpy road conditions, participation camping and the activities involved. You will also need to be comfortable getting in and out of the safari/overland vehicles and helping with setting up and taking down your tent. The gorilla trekking portion can also be physically challenging because of the terrain and walking conditions. As camping is something you particularly enjoy, I think that aspect of the tour could be a real highlight for you. There are 11 nights of participation camping, as well as some permanent/full-service tented camping, so this is definitely an authentic rather than luxury camping experience. Regarding the single supplement, the price you have quoted for January 2028 is: Tour price: US$6,499 per person. Single supplement: US$579. Total if travelling alone: US$7,078. I would, however, like to clarify the single supplement for you, particularly as G Adventures normally has shared accommodation arrangements on group trips, with Night 20 being an exception. I would want to confirm exactly what the US$579 supplement covers for your specific January 2028 departure before advising you definitively. The tour itself is a wonderful combination of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar, with highlights including safari experiences, the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, gorilla trekking, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and time in Zanzibar and Stone Town.
