Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the first part of your trip in Kenya and appreciated our guide Paul's efforts.
However, regarding the Tanzania section, we feel it is necessary to clarify several misunderstandings to ensure future guests have an accurate understanding of safari travel conditions:
1. Road Conditions & Driving Speed
It is important to note that road conditions in Tanzania are fundamentally different from those in Kenya. While Kenya has relatively well-maintained roads, Tanzania's safari routes consist primarily of natural dirt and gravel roads. This is an intentional decision by the government to preserve the ecological environment and maintain the authentic wilderness experience. Consequently, driving speeds are necessarily slower, and the ride may feel bumpier compared to Kenya. This is an objective reality of the region, not a service deficiency.
2. Accommodation Standards
Our itinerary specifies the type of accommodation included (e.g., lodge, camping, hotel) rather than naming a specific property. This is standard practice across the African safari industry, as camps and lodges throughout the continent are typically small with limited inventory. When a property is fully booked — especially during peak season — it is entirely normal and expected to arrange a substitute of the same standard.
The hotel we arranged for you was a downtown 3-star hotel, which was actually an upgrade from the remote guesthouse to save you travel time and provide better convenience. Furthermore, after the tour ended, when you expressed a preference to return to the original suburban lodge, we promptly accommodated your request and arranged the necessary transfer adjustments. We consistently go out of our way to meet our guests' needs, and the quality of the accommodations we provide is always of a good standard.
3. Itinerary Adjustments
As explicitly stated in our terms, the order of game drives may be adjusted based on team conditions, wildlife movements, and logistics. This is particularly relevant for group tours in Tanzania, where pickup locations are widely dispersed across the region — some guests may be picked up from Kilimanjaro, others from Lake Manyara, both of which are 2-3 hours away from Arusha. Unlike Nairobi in Kenya, where pickups are concentrated in one area, Tanzania's scattered pickup points mean that assembling a full group requires additional coordination and patience from all participants, especially when last-minute joiners are involved. This is why we designate the first and last days as key adjustment points in the itinerary — to ensure all guests are successfully grouped together without compromising the overall experience. This clause was clearly included in the itinerary provided to you before departure, and such adjustments do not affect the total number of game drives or the quality of the safari.
4. Vehicle & Guide
Our vehicles are standard safari jeeps suitable for the terrain. Please note that power sockets are not a guaranteed feature on all standard safari vehicles, and this was not part of our service promises. Regarding the guide, we strive to provide the best service possible, but language barriers can sometimes occur with local guides.
We strive to provide the best experience within the agreed terms and always aim to accommodate our guests' needs when possible. We regret that the reality of the safari conditions did not meet your personal expectations, despite our efforts to improve your stay.
Best regards,
Jollic Adventure Team
