- DBDeanne Margaret· January 21st, 2025Well-organised tour of key highlights to see between Cairo and Aswan. Our guide Hassan was full of info and details to help us understand what we were seeing. He co-ordinated everything for us and the tour ran smoothly as a result. Our group was 10 in total plus Hassan and our group was such a lovely bunch of people! Be prepared for a few early starts to see some of the sights. You will also visit a few stores along the way eg papyrus, perfume/oils and alabaster. Be ready to bargain! Don't accept the "fixed prices" noted on the items. The time cruising the Nile was brilliant - we were on the Radimis II and it was mesmerising gliding along the river. Rooms were great and very clean and comfy. Unfortunately, the accommodation in Cairo (Cairo World Trade Centre Residences & Hotel) lets the experience down. Staff there are nice but the rooms are disappointing (very dated interiors, smell of cigarette smoke, lack of hot water in bathroom, floors had obviously not been cleaned). Hopefully Holiday in Egypt will reconsider using this hotel. However, on balance, a well-run tour and we have come away with magical memories (temples, tombs, hot air ballooning, going thru the Esna lock on the Nile, visiting a Nubian village, camel rides etc). Holiday in Egypt did an amazing job navigating the ins and outs of our trip. Everyday we saw amazing things that made us even more amazed. The culture and history of Egypt was so very welcoming and fascinating. Ahmed was a very attentive tour guide that responded to needs. This tour fits 2 weeks of material into one week, So there were plenty of very early mornings (3-5 am wake up calls) for activities, but every one of them was worth it. My 13-year-old and 10-year-old both did great + couldn't wait to go back. Our small group of 15 people really bonded and connected. Everyone was respectful and it was a lovely trip.Show more

His insights greatly enhanced our experience in Egypt. One notable adjustment we made was skipping the trains we had originally scheduled. Given how unpredictable train travel seems to be in Egypt, it might be worth reconsidering whether they should be included in tour packages.Show more

Show moreTrip date: January 2025 - Shreyas· January 3rd, 2025Starting with the negative experience first, as it is important for folks to know this before booking the tour group. I would rate this a low-moderate ranking tour group, because: 1. Overpricing: While they offer the basic tour for $1400, they gave us a 50% discount to make it 700$. 700$ was the correct price. However, all of the optional tours are 3X priced. Specifically, the Hot Air Balloon (ride after sunrise) which is available for $40 is being charged for $120. Similarly, you get Abu Simbel tours for half the price (they charged 100$, whereas it would be only ~60$). I would recommend booking same optional tours directly via Trip Advisor to get the same experience at 1/3rd of price. The Nubian Village Tour priced at 40$ per person was not worth it at all. We paid 360$ for a group of 9 and we should’ve barely paid 30$ in total. 2. Inconsistent Guide Quality: Anas, our tour guide for Day 3-6, was average. I was uncertain if he was an officially recognized tour guide as he neither explained the interiors of temple complexes nor had specific insight into these sights (except for the basic information that is already available via. A quick google search). 3. Poor customer service: When we shared feedback on Day 5 night (about the bad experiences of Day 3-5), the operator Alaa Abdou, who met us to alleviate our concerns actually aggravated it. He was condescending and disrespectful leading to an overall poor travel experience at Egypt. 4. Unnecessary tipping : The tour company recommended exorbitant tips to drivers, ship crew, etc. This is unnecessary as we are already over paying for the package which should mean the staff get fairly paid. Please make your own decision and tip as appropriate. Positives: 1. Egypt is definitely a land of massive and unreal structures. It's hard to imagine how pyramids and temples of such sheer scale were built thousands of ages ago! It's important to know that Egypt tourism is highly commercialized and the locals often try to scam you (and bargain is the norm!). 2. Taher, our overall organizer was super helpful with transportation & stay. He was approachable from Day 1 and even bought us local SIMs. He helped quickly arrange transportation to airport on Day 7 when we had communication gaps. 3. Similarly, our tour guide for Day 2, Sohaila, was also knowledgeable & friendly. She gave detailed history & insights about the pyramids, gave us enough time for photos. Our trip was taken care of from arrival to departure and every request we made was fulfilled and always checking and making adjustments to ensure we were taken care of. My family and I always felt very safe and the people of Egypt were generally very friendly. - Ellen· December 26th, 2024Absolutely amazing trip to Egypt! Admittedly I was a little (my family a lot) nervous about going to Egypt for safety reasons, now I feel silly. I felt completely safe 100% of the time. Sure there were hustlers selling you things at every tourist site but our guide Ahmed was with us every moment and went above and beyond to ensure our experience was comfortable and the best time. We did not at any moment feel unsafe. Egypt has its own time, our domestic flights were badly delayed and there is minimal guideance at the airport, however Ahmed ensured this did not impact any part of our itinerary (even though this wasn't his fault at all). Of all the countries we have visited on this trip (lots of Europe), Egypt is the place I am dying to go back to and would highly recommend to anyone who asks. The sites and the history we saw was unlike anything I have seen or will ever see again in my life.
