What people love about Nile Valley Tours
- Egypt Explorer - Felucca cruise & Red Sea
It was about a year ago now, that I did the Egypt Explorer Tour with Expat Egypt. I was about to embark on a journey to Egypt - a woman alone in an Arab country. Everything looked amazing and the value for money was unbelievable, and I remember reading through similar reviews as the one I am about to write here, with a feeling of mistrust and apprehension, not sure what to expect, or how contrived they were. It turned out to be one of the best holidays ever, and without a doubt the best value for money. The tour company is professional and punctual. George and Sam were always there to assist us at the drop of a hat. Our guide Wael was amazing, always ready to enrich us with his knowledge. He was not just a guide, he became an endearing member of our group. Our group was a melting pot of fun people from around the world. The experiences were wonderful and truely unique. The train ride from Ciaro to Aswan should definitely be done in a sleeper carriage. Aswan is lovely! I would recommend one night on the felucca. The Nile is just fantastic! The Nubian village was a blast, from food to fake tattoos. The Red Sea was a highlight for me... apart from ofcourse hot-air-ballooning over the Hatshepsot Temple. I would truely recommend this tour to anyone, whether you are traveling alone or in a group. I met wonderful people, made life-long friends. It was a truely amazing and enlightening experience and real value for money!

In 2009 I was living in London and I wanted to go to egypt for holydays. I remember that I took a magazine in which I found the trip, I thought that it would be nice to go with them because of the places that we would visit and also the price was very affordable. I was traveling on my own, so, I was a little scared, I didn´t know if there were someone to pick me up, but, yes, there was a nice guy who took me to the hotel. When I got the hotel, I meet the other people who were with me in the tour. There are very nice people, we keep in touch since then. It was fun that the egyptians call me Shakira ( I look very latin american), there were also some people who offered cammels for me. We had an amazing trip. Everything was very good but the breakfast of the first day, that vas very cold... all the rest was amazing. I love Egypt, there are many nice things to visit, specially ASWAN... We went to Hurgada for diving, it was such a good experience. I won´t forget every single moment that I spent there... The guides tour were very friendly, they always tried to make our trip as confortable as possible. Tours like this one are very good for making friends from many places. I travel with austalians, english and canadian people. I love it.

Marvelous tour and great service. The acquaintance with Egypt I started from visiting one of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World – Giza Pyramids. This was maybe one of the most impressive sights I’ve seen, if we do not consider the temples of Abu Simbel. Though it was not only historical places that attracted me in Egypt but the distinctive nature as well – endless deserts, beautiful beaches, Nile… What made me really feel comfortable in a country of different habits and customs was the service provided by the tour company. I was placed in 3 star hotels though the service there was really higher quality – everything was so clean and cozy and the stuff was very kind and amiable. The tour guide was extremely helpful and polite; with great sense of humor and very friendly. It was really interesting to listen to the stories he was telling about each sight. I’d really take another tour to Egypt as one is not enough for sure!!!!!! And of course I’d recommend it to all!

You've got options for your Nile journey - from fancy Dahabiya boats to simple Felucca sailboats, each with its own character. Most people go for the 4-5 day cruises between Luxor and Aswan, stopping at Edfu, Kom Ombo and other riverside temples. The Dahabiya boats are quite special with private cabins and proper Egyptian meals from the onboard chef. They can dock at smaller spots that big cruise ships can't reach. Our customers really like the small group feel - just 12-14 guests max - and how flexible the schedule is for catching sites at the best times. For something more hands-on, try a Felucca where you'll help sail the boat, eat simple meals on deck and sleep under amazing desert stars. Lots of tours add some beach time in Hurghada afterwards to relax by the Red Sea.
See all River Cruise toursEgypt offers plenty of ways to mix history with outdoor activities. You can ride camels by the pyramids at sunrise, snorkel among Red Sea coral reefs near Hurghada and sail traditional boats on the Nile. Many of our travelers say the hot air balloon rides over Luxor's west bank are a highlight - you drift above ancient temples as the morning sun lights up the desert. Some tours take you to Nubian villages by small boat where you can swim in the Nile and learn about local life. The combination tours running 8-12 days give you enough time for both the historical sites and active parts. Our customers often mention how nice it is to have free time in Hurghada for swimming and water sports after seeing all the historical sites.
See all Active toursExplore a wide diversity of coach / bus tours through Nile Valley. We have 12 adventures that vary from 3 days to 12 days. With the greatest number of departures in April, this is also the most popular time of the year.
See all Coach / Bus toursTraditional felucca sailing on the Nile lets you travel like locals have for centuries. You'll sleep right on deck under the stars while the crew takes care of navigation and fresh meals. Our travelers tell us they love jumping in for swims during calm stretches and the social vibe on board. If you prefer more comfort, Dahabiya boats come with private cabins, attached bathrooms and really good Egyptian food prepared by the chef. These smaller boats can dock at quiet spots away from the big cruise ships, so you get temples almost to yourself. Our customers particularly like having dinner on small islands as the sun sets over the river. Felucca trips run 5 days and work well if you're watching your budget, while Dahabiya journeys take 7-13 days and give you that full river experience with extra comfort.

Our travelers consistently give high marks to three tour companies in Egypt: Timeless Tours, Expat Egypt and also Vacations to Go Travel. Peter from Timeless Tours gets mentioned often in feedback for really knowing his stuff and going the extra mile to take care of people. If you're traveling solo - especially as a woman - Beyond the Nile tours has built up a solid reputation for creating a secure, welcoming environment. Just keep in mind that some of the budget-friendly options don't include all entrance fees and tips in the upfront price, so it's worth checking what extra costs you might need to budget for. The experiences in Egypt tend to stick with people long after they return home. Our customers particularly love drifting down the Nile on a traditional felucca boat, floating over Luxor's ancient temples in hot air balloons at sunrise and exploring the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings. The guides do a great job bringing Egypt's history to life while making sure everyone stays comfortable and taken care of during their trip. The key seems to be the quality of the guides - they're knowledgeable without being overly academic, friendly without being pushy and really good at handling all the practical details that make a trip run smoothly. We get lots of feedback about how they help travelers navigate local customs, know the best photo spots and even recommend reliable places for everything from snacks to souvenirs.

"We took the tour as a family, with my parents and my sister. It was the first time for us to take such a tour and the first time in Egypt. I have to say its an amazing country, with a very rich history, which is why we choose this tour to begin with. However, organizing anything ourselves can be quite the challenge, given the language barrier. This is where Holiday in Egypt came in. Everything was very well organized and we were clearly informed when we would be picked up and we were guided nicely. Especially our tour guide Hassan was great. The culture is quite different in Egypt and everyone will sell you anything, all the time, believe me. At first it can be quite overwhelming, but he had good advice on how to get through it. Some tips on what kind of price should be reasonable to barter and when taken to local specialty places he made sure to point out that we should not feel pressured to buy anything. His stories provided great context to the places we were visiting and we were always given plenty of time to walk around for ourselves after he explained the history. The tour ends with some relaxing time in a great all inclusive resort, including cocktails!, which is such a nice end to the trip. The only minor point I would mention is the super safari we did in the end. Its during the "relaxing phase" at the end of the tour and I would say it didn't really fit my view of a safari, its more like an experience center, where you get to ride a camel, a quad, a dune buggy and enjoy some shows at the end. If you would like to ride a camel, different opportunities will be available during the trip, your tour guide can help you there. The other experiences I enjoyed thoroughly, however its quite a rough ride in the desert, so I would definitely not recommend it if your group includes either young kids or people 55+. But it is optional, so take this advice as you'd like. All in all a great experience, where you get to view such amazing historic monuments, well organized with a very responsive travel agency there to help you. Would recommend!

The Nile Valley solo tours blend smart organization with natural ways to meet fellow travelers. Our felucca sailing trips really work well - you join a small crew for nights under desert stars, cool dips in the Nile and simple shared meals on deck. Many solo guests pick the 9-day routes that mix Cairo's ancient sites with quality river time. Female travelers often tell us they feel secure with professional guides handling logistics while keeping their independence to wander. The felucca sailing gets great feedback - you'll work with crews to navigate traditional boats, sleep on riverside beaches and learn about daily life on the Nile. Many book tours featuring desert camping, camel rides and market visits with local experts. Adding Red Sea time is popular, bringing in scuba, windsurfing and desert quad biking alongside the historical sites. Best time to visit Nile Valley
- Spring 2025
Spring's mild weather makes it perfect for exploring the Nile Valley, and we've got some really well-designed tours that take advantage of this. The Nile Adventure with Felucca sailing is special - you'll actually help handle the sails and sleep on deck under the stars when temperatures are just right. There's also a solid 12-day option that mixes comfortable cruising with real cultural experiences; our guests appreciate having structured visits plus enough free time to explore local markets on their own. The 4-day cruises between Aswan and Luxor work nicely in spring too, giving you plenty of time at each temple stop. The morning hot air balloon rides over Luxor are particularly good this time of year - the skies are usually clear and you get amazing views across the Valley of the Kings.
