  The sights in Egypt are truly beyond description! We were awestruck by the history and grandeur of the archeology we saw. This was our first experience with Tour radar, and there are some things that didn't go well and could be improved upon. Our guide arranged a side trip to Saqqara for us ahead of the tour, and that was excellent, and our guide, Helena did a great job. Our group of 13 people were very nice and we enjoyed their company. The Cairo portion was extremely stressful. Our first day was packed with a tour to Giza-Pyramids AND the GEM. We spent so much time at the pyramids that we had to zoom thru the King Tut exhibits and the solar boat and NOTHING ELSE! However our tour guide that day, Marwa, was wonderful and is a practicing archeologist herself, knowledgeable and friendly. I am glad that we came in a day earlier and had our own tickets to the GEM, where we spent 6 hours-it is a magnificent museum and is beautifully laid out. So if you are at all interested in Egyptian archeology, make sure you arrive early to Cairo. You can easily do the GEM on your own without a guide. We used UBER to get back and forth to the GEM. That evening after our VERY EXHAUSTING DAY, we were all to fly to Luxor. When we arrived at the airport, we found that our tickets had been canceled. No one from tour radar accompanied us inside, and after a complicated delay and several phone calls to our local guide, 4 people were able to fly to Luxor. They didn't arrive in Luxor until almost 3AM due to a flight delay. The remaining 9 of us were taken to a very nice airport hotel, at 11 PM, where we had to rise at 4:30 AM for breakfast and another trip to the airport. This time we were accompanied inside by someone from the company who eased our check-in and flight. Once we arrived inLuxor, things went much smoother. Our guide, Anas, did a great job managing the next part of the tour for the next 5 or 6 days. This included our Nile cruise. That portion of the trip was relaxing with sightseeing each day and enjoying the cruising portion of the trip. Our ship (The Swan), was great and the food was very good. Our tour group of 13 were the only ones on the boat. It was small and intimate, much better than the huge 3 story boats we saw on the Nile. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Just a note: if you want to enjoy any alcohol while on the ship, you will need to bring your own. They do not serve alcohol onboard. The two options of the felucca ride and the Nubian village tour were not offered to us, and I don't know if we would have been able to fit them in time wise. The drive up to Abu Simbel was almost 4 hours one way, so that was a very long day too. Pretty tiring.Several of us chose to do the Philae light show, but it was a bit of a disappointment. Relaxing at the hotel would have been a better option. The afternoon tea at the Old Cataract hotel was great, it would have been an amazing option for an overnight stay. Beautiful and historic place. But the Movenpick was very nice. Flight back went smoothly, but again our last day in Cairo was very long and everyone was exhausted. I asked if I could go directly to our hotel from the airport and was told that I should wait and take an Uber after visiting the Coptic Church. That didn't happen, since after the church, we then walked directly to a synagogue, and then drove to a mosque. We did not arrive at the hotel until 6 PM, exhausted. The population density in Cairo is so extreme, and visiting the old Cairo churches was quite a battle to enter and tour the location. If you are tired and don't want to tour Old Cairo, just take your bags and Uber to the Marriott Mena House directly from the airport and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. It is a lovely hotel with views of the pyramids that are close by. I think that the itinerary of this trip could be modified to allow for a smoother trip. I also have never been on a trip where our main tour guide did not accompany us to all locations, as happened during our time in Cairo. That made for complicated decisions and a great deal of frustration. All our hotels were great, but with different scheduling, we might have been able to experience our hotel time in a more relaxing fashion. To whoever may read this review: every time we went anywhere, the tipping was hugely significant. We did not go one day without needing to tip everyone we had contact with. This is a cultural observation, not a criticism of the tour. It was annoying. Don't even try to shop. Sellers are in your face if you make any eye contact with them. It is quite chaotic. Also, there were 2 stops during the tour. One to a "papyrus museum" and one to an aroma therapy shop. Drop those to relax at the hotels. I don't think I would take another tour from this company. It did not go as smoothly as other tour groups we have used. But again, I will emphasize, the portion of the tour outside of Cairo with Anas and the Nile cruise, went very well.Show more

Exceptional experience on Sunrise Hot air balloon. Walking around pyramids, entered interior of one pyramid which was an experience to remember. Nile cruise section on the Swan Dahabiya boat was fabulous, great service, food, crew & manager. Visited tombs of Pharaohs, nobles, valley of kings, including tomb of Tutankhamen & saw his mummified body.Show more

  This holiday was fantastic, a great introduction to the most famous landmarks in Egypt but you do need to have stamina – the ability to walk long distances over rough and/or steep ground in dry heat. There are several days that start before 6am and food/coffee breaks are not always on the agenda - it can be 8+ hours between breakfast and lunch. That said the Tour Guides were very knowledgeable – we wish we had longer to listen to them! Our Guide for days 3-8 was very attentive to the needs of the group and we had been upgraded to a Dahabiya boat which was a wonderful experience – the staff on board were brilliant and as we had the boat to ourselves, it felt like staying with a family. They put on a BBQ one night and a birthday surprise for one of our group on the last night. The tour was well organized and even though there was a problem with one of the domestic flights this was quickly resolved and we did not miss out on anything as a result. We would not recommend the tour of Luxor by horse and carriage or the Philae light show. The Hot air balloon trip was brilliant. The hotels were a very high standard. Beware the price quoted for tickets does not include tickets for attractions in Cairo – the GEM museum, pyramids and Old mosque, nor any additional tombs you may wish to visit in the Valley of the Kings – we spent a further $80 per person, but all in all this trip was definitely worth every penny. 5* all round.Show more

The pyramids, Abu Simbel, and the Valley of the Kings absolutely lived up to expectations, and the Tomb of Seti I was a standout highlight — truly incredible to see in person. Our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Anas was great — engaging, informative, and clearly passionate about the history. Marwa (hope I’m spelling that right) was also wonderful and helped make the experience smooth and enjoyable. They shared insights you simply wouldn’t get traveling on your own. The optional hot air balloon ride in Luxor was a fantastic experience and gave a whole new perspective on the area. The team clearly worked hard to keep things running smoothly, and the overall experience was memorable and rewarding.   There was one severe mix up during our 10 day trip when our group of 13 arrived at Cairo airport and were dropped off for our 10 pm flight to Luxor. Turns out there were no confirmed tickets. An angry call to our local contact got an alternative sorted out (we were picked up. moved to airport hotel and flew out early the next morning) but we missed one night at one of the more exciting hotels. Our schedule needed adjustment. Overall I wish the following had occurred. 1. Participants could have been developed into a cohesive group earlier. Suggestions: Welcome event had been organized so participants had opportunity to introduce themselves instead of seated at multiple tables with no conversation. List of participants provided to participants so we could have learned each other names more quickly - it took 4 days. 2. I traveled as a single traveler and others on the tour were in pairs or a family 4-some and no help was provided by tour to integrate me. The tour placed me alone for meals on the cruise - or with the crew. The tour group was taken aback (as was I) and I joined two of the couples for each of the remaining meals. This could have been facilitated by the way the tables were set. Several people indicated that they wished the table could have allowed for 6 or 7 to be seated together. 3. We stayed at lovely hotels but had no chance to enjoy them as we were taken to the hotels late each day. 4. In Cairo, on our first day, we were taken to the pyramids and the GEM museum. It was an unnecessarily exhausting day and not all in our group could handle it. We were rapidly raced around the pyramid-even extending the walk to some less exiting long walks that provided little enhancement to the visit as we were tired and hungry by that point. We then went to Papyrus Museum (which was a royal rip off), a poor lunch and then an amazing run through the GEM (again, not all in the group could handle the run) in order to leave by 7pm and catch the 10 o'clock flight to Luxor that we could not get on.) 5. To many very early morning departures leaving us very tired by each day's end. 6. Food was fine, especially on the cruise. but there was little variety. Meals in restaurants were all at "group" venues and they felt like it. 7. Tour was promoted as an Agatha Christie inspired tour but the only time Agatha Christie was referenced was 1) as we approached the Winter Palace hotel we were told that Christie had lived there for 2 years and 2) as we had high tea a balcony that was pointed out to us was described as the Christie balcony.Show more

With respect to shopping at locations such as the GEM Museum, the schedule on that day was tight due to pre-arranged visits, which unfortunately limited the available free time. As for the papyrus museum and fragrance house, these stops are included to introduce guests to traditional Egyptian crafts and local products.   An excellent tour. Very busy but well worth it. Our guides Anas and Tony were superb, as was Doctor Nasr the Egyptologist in Cairo. We upgraded to the Dehabiya Swan for the 4 night cruise. It was nice to be on a quieter, smaller boat (12 rooms). The staff were all great, and could not have done more to make sure we were happy with everything. I would say wifi was intermittent. If this is a concern to you, make sure you get an eSIM (we used Nomad) before you travel.Show more
