  Are there any restrictions concerning luggage?

    As per our trip notes, there are some luggage restrictions on this trip:
    
    - The maximum luggage allowance is 20 kg per person.
    - We recommend packing as lightly as possible.
    - Backpacks or soft duffel bags are preferred, as large hard-shell suitcases can be difficult to fit, particularly when the truck is at full capacity.
    - Larger luggage will be stored in the compartments underneath the truck and generally won't be accessible until camp is set up.
    - You'll also need a smaller day pack or overnight bag, as on some parts of the trip you'll leave your main luggage behind for up to two nights and take only the essentials with you.
    - Each traveller will have access to a locker on the truck for valuables, and we recommend bringing a small padlock (20-30 mm).
    
    If you believe your luggage may exceed these limitations, please let us know and we can seek further guidance from our Operations team.

    For this Okavango Experience tour the minimum age is 15 years old. Our Botswana Family Safari with Teenagers offers a similar itinerary and is suitable for your daughter to join as the minimum age for this trip is 10 years old. The Botswana Family Safari with Teenagers starts in Victoria Falls (VFA airport) and ends in Johannesburg (JNB airport). The itinerary includes information on visas.

  I'd be very interested in the upgrade options for hotel rooms on this trip (I would've been in South Africa for a month on other tours and trips by this stage and would prefer a hotel rooms where possible!) Also, what kind of luggage can I bring along on this tour? I will have at least one big suitcase with me and maybe a smaller one as well.

    We do not offer the ability to directly upgrade the accommodations on this tour, as the majority of this tour is camping and part of a group experience. Although, there may be the occasional night stop when we stay on the grounds of a hotel or at a campsite, which may also have rooms/cabins available. In this case, there may be a choice of camping or upgrading to a room. Rooms cost approximately USD 40-100 per room per night for a twin room and cannot be pre-booked. Standards of these rooms vary greatly, and we recommend viewing the room before purchasing the night's accommodation. The day-by-day itinerary advises when upgrades may be possible (subject to availability).
    
    If you're looking for a tour that does not include camping, I would consider a Comfort or Premium style tour.

  I'd like to book the trip but I may have an overlapping work-related trip. Is there a refund policy I can rely on, or can you offer any kind of goodwill gesture in this situation?

    We don't have a postponement policy. If you cancel a trip:
    
    a) 30 days or more prior to departure, we charge your deposit of EUR 400/ CHF400 as a cancellation fee;
    b) between 21 and 29 days prior to departure, we charge a cancellation fee of 40% of the total cost of your trip;
    c) between 16 and 20 days prior to departure, we charge a cancellation fee of 60% of the total cost of your trip;
    d) between 8 and 15 days prior to departure, we charge a cancellation fee of 70% of the total cost of your trip;
    e) 7 days or fewer prior to departure, we charge a cancellation fee of 80% of the total cost of your trip.

    If you're interested in the trip starting August 21st, this would be the date that accommodation begins and is included. Anything prior to the night of the 21st is not included. If you would like to book pre or post-nights, please let us know as we can look at booking you at the same hotel the tour starts/finishes at depending on your needs.

    Yes, all of our hotels are safe and secure. Solo female travellers are our biggest demographic, so we always want to ensure that our accommodations are clean, comfortable and safe.

    An arrival transfer purchased through Intrepid would be 47 EUR. I am not certain on taxi fare as this can range a bit depending even on the time of day you're travelling, but you may be able to get cheaper transportation if you prefer or feel safe to take a taxi.

    You enter Botswana by land earlier in the trip, when travelling from South Africa to Khama Rhino Sanctuary (Day 2). Later, on Day 9, you cross by land from Botswana into Zimbabwe at the Victoria Falls border.

    Wi-Fi is available at some campsites (for example in Maun, Nata, Chobe and Victoria Falls), but it can be slow.

    For the Okavango Experience, the trip is primarily camping-based. However, there is an option to upgrade to a private room at some campsites for an additional cost. These upgrades will not be equivalent to a full 3-4 star lodge or hotel, but they do provide more privacy and comfort compared to standard camping.

    Our departure dates come with a fixed cost, so any bookings made will follow the standard website rates. Unfortunately, as per our booking policy, we do not offer a Tour Conductor Credit for this tour.
