Itinerary
- Day 1
Nairobi
You'll arrive in Nairobi and have time to settle in before a 5 pm welcome meeting. If your flight gets in early, there's plenty to do - the National Museum of Kenya has good exhibits on natural history, the Giraffe Centre lets you feed giraffes up close, and Bomas of Kenya shows traditional architecture from different ethnic groups. After the meeting wraps up, there's an optional group dinner with the other families on the trip.

Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Today you'll travel toward Maasai Mara with a stop in Loita Hills to visit Tepesua Village. You'll meet Maasai Warriors and watch traditional songs and dances, then walk through the village to see how people live day to day. A visit to a traditional Maasai home gives you insight into daily routines and why cattle matter so much to the culture. From there, you'll continue to your permanent tented camp on the edge of Maasai Mara.

- Day 3
Maasai Mara
Start before dawn with an optional hot air balloon ride at sunrise, followed by a bush breakfast if you've booked it. Later in the morning, you'll head out on a 4WD safari game drive through Maasai Mara National Park with your family. Have your cameras ready because you're likely to see wildebeest, lions, leopards, antelope, and giraffes roaming across the grasslands.

Maasai Mara to Butiama
You'll cross from Kenya into Tanzania today and travel to Butiama, the birthplace of Tanzania's first president. This is a long travel day, so pack games and books to keep the kids occupied during the drive. You'll stay at a family-run lodge where children can swim in the pool and explore the gardens when you arrive.

Butiama to Serengeti
Today takes you to Serengeti National Park. You'll drive along scenic safari routes to reach your permanent tented campsite in the park's heart. Stop along the way for photos of wildlife and the wide open landscapes. After dinner, gather around the campfire and spend your evening listening to the sounds of the African bush.

- Day 6
Serengeti
You'll start early on a 4WD safari when wildlife is most active in the morning. Return to camp by mid-morning for a relaxed brunch, then take it easy during the hottest part of the day. In the afternoon, head out again to watch animals during their evening activities. Back at camp for dinner, you'll have another night under the Serengeti sky.

- Day 7
Serengeti to Ngorongoro to Karatu
This morning brings your final game drive through Serengeti. You'll then drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and switch into open-roof 4WD jeeps to descend onto the crater floor. From the jeeps, you get close views of wildlife, and from the crater rim, you'll see the landscape spread out below with lakes, rivers, woodlands, and hills. You'll stay in Karatu for the next two nights.

- Day 8
Lake Eyasi
After breakfast, you'll travel to Lake Eyasi, a seasonal soda lake where the Hadzabe people have lived for over 10,000 years. You'll meet community members and take part in their daily activities - hunting, gathering, and traditional dance. They'll teach you about their 'click' language, one of the oldest languages still spoken today. You'll head back to your lodge in Karatu by evening.

- Day 9
Karatu to Arusha
Put on your helmet for a guided cycling tour through Mto Wa Mbu Village. You'll pedal past banana plantations and rice farms, stop at local homes, and meet a Tingatinga artist. In the afternoon, you'll travel to Arusha. Consider gathering the family to find a local restaurant for dinner with your group - a nice way to celebrate your last night in East Africa.

Your trip ends after breakfast. You can arrange a departure transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) for an additional fee. If you'd prefer, you can continue with the group to finish in Nairobi, or speak with your booking agent beforehand about extending your time in Nairobi.
