What people love about Serengeti National Park Tours
- Serengeti Trail (8 destinations)
Fantastic Tour that really enabled travelers to get up close and personal with the amazing wildlife in the Serengeti and Crater. Great cultural experience as well with plenty of opportunities to experience everyday life and the local ways. Guides and cooks were amazing!!!
- Serengeti Trail (8 destinations)
Amazing tour of Kenya & Tanzania, would highly recommend. We had so many close up animal interactions, it felt like we were in a zoo rather than in the wild! Fantastic guide (Julius), amazing chef Niko), and safe drivers (Vincent and Felix). Positives: Food (you will not lose weight on this trip!! You are fed so well even if you have a very limited diet like me!) , Upgrade possibilities (I'm not a camping person, so every opportunity to upgrade to a hotel, I did) , bike ride with a local guide in lake Victoria, hot air balloon ride over the serengeti (expencive, but so worth it) , the crew, bring upgraded to 4x4 cars when our truck died, local walking tour in mto wa mbu. Plenty of drink, snack and toilet stops to break up the long drives. Negatives:. No hot water and no pressure on showers in serengeti campsite (thank god for baby wipes). I paid £70 per room (one pre-tour and one post tour) through intrepid because otherwise they would not arrange my airport transfers. I found the same room for £56 online, but intrepid wouldn't price match. The truck was very rattly and sometimes resulted in bruises from hitting windows etc., not all seat belts work, we had a few issues with it but alternatives were quickly organised. Feedback: some lunches could be quick basic sandwiches (ham and cheese/peanut butter etc) instead of spending time peeling, chopping and cooking. Would be nice to pick up ice in lake Victoria to top up the esky to keep drinks cold for the next few days. Tips: Zip off trousers are amazing! Baby wipes, face wipes, hand sanitiser, toilet paper, torch, Antibac wipes are a must have. A double insulated water bottle worked great yo keep drinks cold. I brought cheap fairy lights to easily identify my tent (they all look the exactly the same, and in the dark its easy to open someone else's. I would definitely use intrepid again.

I really enjoyed the trip as a whole. The guide Edwin, cook Jeremy and driver Becki were all brilliant. The truck and equipment that was provided were all fine (although Africa eventually beat the truck!) My only criticism would be the itinerary itself. To me it seemed very inefficient. The headline of the trip is the serengeti and ngorongoro crater, but you spend 2 days travelling from Nairobi to Lake Victoria before you even cross into Tanzania. Out of the 7/8 days on the road, only 3 nights are actually spent in the serengeti and crater, the rest is just filler and travelling time. I would suggest that instead of travelling or starting from Nairobi and spending all that time travelling, the trip should start in arusha and include a stop/drive through manyara and tarangire national parks instead.

See all Safari toursThe Serengeti's best exploration tours run anywhere from a week to 40 days, letting you really sink into the park's natural rhythms. "The tour is great! We have seen all Big Fives, including the most elusive leopard. The landscape is magnificent! The tour guide, chef, truck and gam drivers are all pleasant, responsible and helpful. There are a few things I wish I had been informed before the trip: 1. Visa for both Kenya and Tanzania; 2. Bring sleeping bags, towels and toilet paper (this is esswntially a camping trip); 3. Plenty of small bills of USD be cause it's the preferred currency from tourist. As long as you are well-prepared, this is a tour if life time!

"The tour was amazingly carried out! We enjoyed the sights, the hotels and the amazing hospitality. Our tour guide Emmanuel really made the trip so special for us. He is incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the land, animals and culture. He made us all feel so welcome in Northern Tanzania and kept us laughing throughout our time together. We were fortunate enough to see the big 5 animals and even saw a leopard on 2 separate occasions. The hotel selections were wonderful, we particularly enjoyed our time at the Serengeti Safari Lodge! I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in doing a safari.

Best places to start your Serengeti National Park tour
Most safaris kick off from Arusha, where 44 different tours begin in this lively city. Another 21 tours start from Nairobi, while some visitors choose Zanzibar as their jumping-off point, particularly if they want to mix beach days with their wildlife experience. You'll want to book about 26 days ahead since the best lodges fill up fast, though during the busy months of July through September it's smart to plan even earlier to get your pick of accommodations and expert guides. The wildlife viewing hits its peak in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu Plains from December to March when thousands of wildebeest calves are born, while the western corridor offers dramatic river crossings from June to July. Early morning and sunset drives give you the best shots at seeing and photographing the park's big cats, including some harder-to-spot predators like servals and also caracals. More visitors are now adding Maasai-led cultural tours to their trips, which gives you real insights into local traditions and helps support community tourism projects.

Demographics
Our small group safaris running 3-7 days work perfectly for solo travelers - you'll join just 7-8 like-minded adventurers who often become friends by trip's end. Expert guides like Flavian know all the prime spots to position vehicles for capturing those perfect shots of big cats, elephants and also wildebeest. Solo guests tell us they love having everything sorted out, from the Kenya-Tanzania border crossings to quality stays at places like Ngorongoro Wildcamp. Everyone's favorite part? The shared dinners at camp, trading stories about what you spotted that day while the African night comes alive around you.
Couples can choose from 6-day classic safaris or extended 12-day journeys that blend romance with wilderness. Many pick tours featuring intimate tented camps where you'll watch the sun sink below the horizon from your private deck. Our guides Justin and Mark have a knack for creating those special moments - setting up surprise drinks in the bush or finding quiet spots away from other vehicles to watch lions on the hunt. The mix of adventure and comfort works beautifully according to TourRadar customers - track cheetahs across vast plains by day, then return to quality lodges for dinner by candlelight. Several routes include visits to local coffee plantations or sessions with Maasai artisans where you'll learn traditional crafts together.

World Adventure Tours and African Polecat Safaris stand out among safari operators in the region based on what our travelers tell us. World Adventure Tours works with Zara Properties to provide really comfortable lodges and camps, while their guides Daniel, Joseph and also Obed consistently get mentioned by name in reviews. Travelers appreciate how they track wildlife movements and position vehicles just right for watching lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and also buffalo - the complete Big Five. The timing is particularly good during the wildebeest migration, when the guides know exactly where to set up for the best viewing spots. African Polecat Safaris takes a similar quality approach - they've invested in well-maintained vehicles with good suspension for those bumpy tracks, and their accommodations hit that sweet spot between comfort and feeling properly immersed in the wilderness. Their staff undergoes extensive training which shows in how they handle everything from wildlife spotting to explaining local ecology. What makes these safaris real adventures is the unpredictable nature of wildlife viewing - you might find yourself following fresh lion tracks at dawn, or quietly watching a herd of elephants pass right by your vehicle. The guides know how to read animal behavior and adjust the schedule when something interesting is happening nearby.

Our safari vehicles get you close to the action and TourRadar customers love how these trips combine game drives across Lake Nakuru, the Serengeti and also Ngorongoro Crater. You'll spot rhinos along Lake Nakuru's shoreline, and the nights camping in the park are something special - there's nothing quite like being tucked in your comfortable tent while lions call in the distance.
