    Cheryl

    Asked on December 1st, 2023

I am very interested in booking this tour next year, but I would need to know how often I would have a chance to charge my equipment. I am a photographer with multiple tools (phone/drone/camera/laptop) so it would be crucial for me to have access to electricity quite often.

    • Absolute AfricaOperatorWritten December 2023

Our trucks have 600-watt Intelligent Power Inverters converting 24v DC to AC mains electricity (220-240v). There are several power points that take USB and/or UK style plugs. This will be sufficient for charging photographic or other standard equipment you might bring. It is sensible to also bring an international/universal adapter to charge any equipment from mains power at the campsites, as charging on the truck can only be done while driving. Remember to bring enough memory and all accessories and cables etc you might need for your equipment. Also to note is that the available power points are for the whole group to share and so extra batteries are always wise in the event you cannot always fully charge your equipment at any point.

    Asked on February 19th, 2016

When is the best time to view the migration?

    Other
    • Absolute AfricaOperatorWritten February 2016

The prime time to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania is usually regarded as being from late November through to March when the big herds of wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and zebra head on to the southern plains of the Serengeti.

To get the best viewing on the other hand in Kenya's Masai Mara July through to September are usually regarded as the best months.

  • P

    Philip

    Asked on February 15th, 2016

How much will this tour really cost me?

    Price / Availability
    • Absolute AfricaOperatorWritten February 2016

The costs to consider when travelling overland are:

      Safari price & Local payment,
      Optional excursions,
      Personal spending money,
      Visas.

We are always very transparent about what a tour will cost and are happy to go through personal, tailored budgets to give you a very realistic idea of what you will spend on your tour - whether you are an adrenaline junkie, souvenir-shopaholic or travelling on a shoestring…

  • E

    Elaine

    Asked on February 15th, 2016

    What is the local payment?

    Other
    • Absolute AfricaOperatorWritten February 2016

The local payment is a separate payment from the initial price you pay before you leave. If a local payment is required it will be shown with the trip price. This second payment is made in Africa at the start of your trip. It is payable in USD. The local payment provides us with the means for expenses that need to be paid in cash to local businesses en route to be arranged in the most cost effective manner possible, a saving we can then pass on to you. It also means we can operate in a way that directly supports local businesses and wildlife authorities as we travel. Local Payment will not be changed once you have booked your travel arrangements.
