Our guide Ibrahim attended us in Luxor, on Dahabiya to Assuan and to Abu Simbel and back to Assuan. He is a very good guide. His knowledge is unbelievable good. As well the staff on the Dahabiya was great. We enjoyed the whole tour and wouldn't forget.Show more

  I went on the 13 Days Highlights of Egypt and Jordan tour at the end of October 2024. This was my first solo trip and I would definitely recommend Vacations To Go Travel for any female wanting to cross off those bucket list items. Every detail was thoughtfully planned out from the moment I arrived at the airport in Cairo to the moment my tour ended. John was the representative who met me at the airport to help with the visa I needed as well as my transportation to and from the hotel. He’s very professional and friendly which put me at ease knowing I could communicate with him at any time with any issues. I had the most wonderful tour guides throughout the whole journey and I will remember them fondly. Sara took me to the pyramids, around Cairo and to Alexandria. She’s very knowledgeable and has great passion for her job. She felt like a sister by the time we were finished and she even held my hand to cross the road with all the crazy Cairo traffic lol. I opted to add on the day trip to Abu Simbel and it did not disappoint. It was a quick flight from Aswan and Waleed was my awesome tour guide who retrieved me from the airport and drove me to the site for a quick 2 hour tour. This was one of the main reasons I came to Egypt and I could’ve stood there all day staring in awe at the large Ramesses II statues on the facade of the temple. After my flight back to Aswan, I boarded a cruise ship for the Nile River cruise visiting so many amazing temples and each one was more interesting and larger than the previous one. During the Nile cruise, Mansour was my fun yet insightful tour guide whom I shared a few meals with as well as had some great conversations. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen events I was not able to complete the Jordan portion of my trip but all in all I am so impressed with all the logistics Vacations To Go Travel had in place. Even dealing with any pre-tour issues with Madgy via message was top notch. As a woman traveling solo I never once felt like my safety was in jeopardy so thank you to everyone involved in facilitating such a fantastic amazing journey. I will hopefully be back one day to experience more beauty Egypt has to offer.Show more

  Overall, we had an excellent trip. Communications with Vacations to go travel were prompt and informative. I can highly recommend them. They were flexible in the arrangements in that we asked to have our free day changed from the second day in Cairo to the first day because our party arrived after a 24 hour trip from the West Coast of the US. If you are in this situation, I highly recommend having a light day on the day after you arrive in Cairo. Our guides (Abanoub Talaat and Ibrahim Elmounir) were knowledgable and spoke good English. They often took us to locations that were not frequented by other tourists. Michael Adolf who was our contact person in Cairo was very helpful in suggesting a local restaurant and finding a pharmacy when one of our party needed a medication. Our dahabiya boat was comfortable and the cooks prepared great food, both taste and quantity. It was certainly relaxing to be cruising the Nile. However, you should be aware that the boat was not air conditioned (it was unseasonably hot for a few days). In addition, there is no hair dryer or shampoo/conditioners provided so you will need to provide your own. Although the boat had sails, they were only used for a few hours. Most of the time we were pulled upriver by a tug. Our hotels were excellent with swimming pool, gym and good restaurants. The Steigenberger El Tahrir is NOT directly on the square which is probably good (not as noisy). You should be aware that there may be a couple of early morning starts, e.g., 4 am pick ups. A breakfast box is provided, however. Finally, tipping is pervasive. Fortunately, they accept (perhaps prefer?) US dollars. One dollar bills are not preferred because Egyptian banks sometimes do not accept them and therefore Egyptians have trouble converting them to local currency. Five dollar bills are OK, but for smaller tips and for admission to the "pay" toilets that are at the tourist sites, you should get some small denomination Egyptian pounds (current exchange 30 LE=1 US$); therefore 10, 20 and 50 LE notes will be useful. Bring lots of sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat; be prepared to have a great time.Show more
