Arrival in Kathmandu
A staff member from Sherpa Expedition Teams will meet you at Kathmandu airport and drive you to your hotel in Thamel. You'll connect with your guide for a briefing about what the trek will involve and what to expect over the coming days.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
The flight from Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hilary Airport at Lukla takes 30 to 40 minutes and offers nice views of the mountains. Once you land, you'll trek down to Phakding following the path beside the Dudh Koshi River where you'll spend your first night.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
You'll walk along the Dudh Kosi River and cross several bridges as you pass through Toc-Toc, Benkar, and Monjo. At Monjo you reach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. The terrain flattens out for a bit, then you climb steeply up to Namche Bazaar, which sits full of restaurants, shops, internet cafes and banks.

Namche Bazaar (Acclimatization Day)
This day focuses on acclimatization before going higher. Your guide can take you to Thame, Khunde, or around Namche Bazaar itself. If the timing works out, you might catch the weekly market on Friday evening or Saturday morning. The Tourist Visitor Center near the park headquarters has displays of old climbing gear and information about local plants and animals.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
You'll hike alongside the cold Dudh Kosi River as it drops down from the high peaks, moving steadily upward to Tengboche Village at 3,860m/12,664ft. The monastery here has a large Buddha statue, wall hangings, and Tibetan instruments on display. Later in the evening, the monks hold prayers at the monastery, and you can sit in on this quiet, reflective time.

Tengboche to Dingboche
After leaving Tengboche, you'll head down to Debouche and cross a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola. From there it's on to Pangboche, then to Dingboche, a town with strong Sherpa culture. The views here include Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam.

Dingboche (Acclimatization Day)
Another acclimatization day with the option to climb 400 meters up to Nangkartshang Gompa monastery, which sits on a ridge north of Dingboche. From there you can see Mt. Makalu (8,463m), the world's fifth highest mountain, and Ama Dablam. If you have energy left, continue to the summit at 5,090m before heading back down to sleep in Dingboche.

Dingboche to Chupki Lhara
You'll walk through Dughla Village then trek across rocky ground before tackling the steep moraine at the base of Khumbu Glacier. At Chupki Lhara you'll see prayer flags and stones honoring climbers who died on Everest, including Scott Fischer and Babu Chiri Sherpa. The peaks here are massive: Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal surround you on all sides.

Chupki Lhara to Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep
After passing Gorakshep Lake, you'll reach a memorial for Indian mountaineers who died on Everest. The air gets thin and breathing becomes harder, and the rocky terrain slows your pace. At Everest Base Camp you'll see hundreds of colorful tents set up by climbers waiting for weather windows. You can see Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori with their snowy peaks from here. After resting, you'll head back down to Gorakshep for the night.

- Day 10
Gorakshep to Kala Patthar to Pheriche
Early morning you'll head out in cold temperatures around -10 to -14°C/14 to 7°F, and winds make it feel colder. You're heading to Kala Patthar where Mt. Everest comes into view. From the summit you get 360-degree views with massive peaks like Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse visible to the east. Bring extra camera batteries to get good shots. You'll return to Pheriche for the night.

Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
Descending from Kala Patthar, you'll head down to Debouche then walk through rhododendron forest to reach Tengboche with its famous monastery and views of snow-covered peaks. Continuing down, you'll reach Phunki Thenga (3,250m/10,663ft) on the Imja Khola river banks, then pass through Sanasa before arriving back in Namche Bazaar for the night.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
The trek ends with your hike down to Lukla. You'll have time to walk around the village and nearby area, soaking in the sense of accomplishment from finishing this tough trek. An early 45-minute flight gets you back to Kathmandu before strong afternoon winds arrive. From the airport you'll transfer to your hotel with the evening free to walk through Thamel's crowded streets.

Landmarks Lukla Thamel - Day 13
Departure from Kathmandu
If you didn't fly back on the previous day, this morning you'll take the 45-minute flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. You'll head to your hotel and have the evening open to walk around Thamel and explore its narrow, busy streets one last time.

Final Departure
Your last day in Nepal. A representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will help you get to the airport with enough time to spare, ideally arriving at least three hours before your flight leaves. Have a safe trip home, and you'll likely already be thinking about returning for another Himalayan adventure.
