what date should i book to leave kathmandu

if i arrive on the Saturday 31st October and Day 1 of the tour is on the Sunday 1st of November, Monday the 2nd November is when we leave to lukla? i am wanting to fly back to Australia on the 14th of November. Day 13 of tour which will be arriving in Kathmandu which will be November the 13th? Is it okay for me to depart at 1pm on the 14th November? I want to make sure i have enough time on either end. Could you please recommend what would be the best option?

Im very keen on booking the Everest Base Camp trek on the 23rd of June. I firstly wanted to just ask what you believe the whether conditions would be like during this period. I have done some research and saw this is the beginning of the monsoon season. I know you can't predict the exact weather, but as Sherpa's with experience I am just curious about what the typical weather conditions are during this period and whether during this time will we actually be able to see Mt Everest some days due to the fog and rain, and if this time increases the difficulty of the trek. I also just wanted to ask about difficulties, just as I wouldn't say I am a pro. I am definitely fit and in shape, I weight train x5 times a week and try to do cardio x5 a week whether that be swimming, running, stair master or walks for 45min each time. I know this trek is difficult and not an easy feat, it is a lifetime goal of mine but I am fearful I will not be as fast as the group, slow us down or want to take lots of breaks. What do you think about this?

Yes during this time very less chance about altitudes sickness. Yes there is less chance to see mount Everest most of the morning time. But prepared for rain and you need to have at least 5 buffer day just of incase Lukla flight there are more chance to canceled or delayed that's common

Are we able to specify this during booking or should we book the departure date and then message you afterwards to ask for the extra dates?

We were wondering if there is any option to add days on at the beginning or end of the trip. Eg. we fly in on the 8th, get picked up at the airport and taken to the accomodation as normal, but don't fly to Lukla until the 11th. We would obviously pay for the additional 2 nights accomodation.

Would like to know if the tea houses have running water and what the baggage restrictions are if he pays for a porter to carry his bags.

The porter will carry max 25 kg weight. For Lukla flight 15 kg allow luggage with hand bag if more than that you can pay per kg 1.5$. Yes tea house has running water.

We, 2 Dutch brothers, 64 and 71 years old, did our 12 day EBC trek from the 12th of March 2025. On the day of our departure, there were no flights from Kasthmandu to Lukla. Very fortunately, we did manage to get onto the last helicopter that day. While it rained steadily in the afternoon during our trek to Phakding, it turned out this was the last day we had any precipitation. From then on it was glorious sunshine! And the trek, although hard work, was glorious from beginning to end. The views got better and better- from simply stunning to incredibly stupendous. Our guide, Santa Tamang was brilliant- very experienced (100+ times to EBC) he offered the right kind of guidance and support. In addition, he provided great insights into the local people and customs. It helped that his English was at least as good as ours!Show more

Ram answered all of our questions promptly and took care of our every need. During the 12 days of trekking, our guides Mindu and Nima were extremely helpful. Mindu who has submitted Mt. Everest few times, was knowledgeable, helpful, caring and friendly. Mindu gave us great advice daily on how we can improve and make our journey possible. He constantly asked us about our health and checked on all of us. His efforts and encouragement made it possible for us to complete our dream. Nima was always with us and became best friends with our kids! Nima was with us every step from the day we landed in Kathmandu till the day we flew back.   Trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC) between June 23rd and July 6th falls right in the middle of Nepal's monsoon season, which typically runs from mid-June to early September. Here's what you can expect regarding rain and weather during that time: Is it rainy most days? Yes, most days will have some rain during this period. Rain is frequent and fairly consistent in the lower elevations (up to around Namche Bazaar). However, it usually rains in the late afternoon or evening, rather than all day. Does it rain for the majority of the day? Not typically. Rain often comes in short but intense bursts, especially in the afternoons or early evenings. Mornings are frequently clearer, offering better trekking conditions and views earlier in the day. You can often trek comfortably during the morning and early afternoon before the clouds and rain roll in. Is the rain heavy? In the lower and mid-hills, yes, rain can be heavy and sudden, especially in forested or river valley areas. Are we able to specify this during booking or should we book the departure date and then message you afterwards to ask for the extra dates?

  We were wondering if there is any option to add days on at the beginning or end of the trip. Eg. we fly in on the 8th, get picked up at the airport and taken to the accomodation as normal, but don't fly to Lukla until the 11th. We would obviously pay for the additional 2 nights accomodation.

  We are highly flexible about the date you can add 1 day to day after trip or before we will drop and pick you up from the airport you can choose any date the trip will 100% Departure.

  We are using hotel in Kathmandu Hotel Thamel park per night USD 45 with breakfast if you prefer to stay there let us know we will book and you can pay after arrival in Kathmandu directly to hotel.

Would like to know if the tea houses have running water and what the baggage restrictions are if he pays for a porter to carry his bags.

  The porter will carry max 25 kg weight. For Lukla flight 15 kg allow luggage with hand bag if more than that you can pay per kg 1.5$. Yes tea house has running water.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before July 4th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after July 4th, 2026, a minimum payment of 60% is required to confirm your booking with Sherpa Expedition & Trekking Pvt. Ltd.. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Sherpa Expedition & Trekking Pvt. Ltd. will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
