A single supplement is available if you'd prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Day 9 (Tikal) and Day 14 (San Juan La Laguna homestay), where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability.

Would it be possible to do the tour, hop off at lake Atilan as we would like to do a Spanish course for 3-4 weeks then hop back the same tour that was passing 3-4 weeks later at all?

Unfortunately no, the trip is as per brochure and is not customizable.

As a German citizen do I need a visa for some of those countries or is everything included by the organizer. So I have to make sure to have a visa for each of these countries

To save you money and the hassle of booking multiple trips, this journey is a combination of some of our most popular adventures. Your leader and the composition of your group may change with the start of each adventure. I have listed the demographics below for the different sections of the tour: Playa del Carmen to Antigua: 2 travellers, travelling in a pair, in their 30s. Antigua - San Jose: 10 travellers, 2 of which are solo, ages ranging from early 20s to 50s, majority in their 30s. San Jose to Panama City: 1 solo traveller in their 20s. Meals Included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner. To give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule, our groups tend to eat dinner together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There's no obligation to do this though.

Is that per day included in price or do I have to buy my own meals?

For this tour there are only 3 meals included in the price. Dinner is included on day 13 with your homestay, along with breakfast the next morning. Lunch is included on day 21 when you experience a local Salvadoran Pupusa cooking demonstration. For this trip we do recommend between 25 to 50USD per day for additional food.

How are you handling unvaccinated travelers who wish to take this trip? Is vaccinated required to take this tour? Or negative PCR will suffice when entering these Central American countries?

All our trips require passengers to be fully vaccinated (unless in rare cases they have a medical exemption). Any entry/exit/visa requirements we recommend checking with the country's embassy/consulate as we are unable to advise, however any PCR testing before entering each country the guide can help arrange (at the passengers own expense) you just have to let them know in advance.

i am looking to book a south america to/from central america trip from mid April for approx 2-3 months but have concerns which order to do it in and whether the weather will be a problem

April is the last month of dry weather across much of the region of Central America, April sees Mexico's towns and cities warm up, making it a great time to visit the hot and sunny Yucatán Peninsula. Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala and Nicaragua are all hot and dry. South America is a little harder to say as you'll be travelling through more than one seasons and the length of the continent of South America can mean very different weather between the top to the bottom.

How much, approximately, would the return flight for this tour cost? And secondly, how much spending money would you recommend for such a long your?

Fantastic choice with that trip! Flight costs would depend on where you're flying from and dates. I've checked for 28th of May until 11th July 2022 and found flights from London Heathrow to Cancun and from Panama City back to London Heathrow for about 600£. For spending money, we recommend between USD 25 to 50 per day. Breakfast might cost USD5 to USD10, lunch USD5 to USD15, and dinner USD12 to USD25 for a main course.

I am now in last week of this tour, and with latest accommodation fiasco in Boquete I've finally had it SHAME ON YOU INTREPID I gave lot of $$$ to Intrepid this winter and horrendous choice of sub-standard rat holes we are forced to spend nights has just about killed every desire to ever travel again. Add brutal local transport, incompetent tour guide on Antigua to San Jose leg, list goes on. Border crossings and charges to cross were 'fluid' with information from Government websites, Intrepid and tour leaders all conflicting making it difficult to trust Intrepid or your leaders and leaving me with the feeling I was being ripped off. The trip was better than expected, specially the accommodations. The guides were variable, from excellent to just satisfactory. The coverage was more than satisfactory and the transport provided was mostly good, with a couple of exceptions when we felt unsafe crossing some waters in small boats. We did not like the late start of some trips to the next destination as it left us very little time to enjoy some places. A minimum stay of two full days is ideal for most of the places covered. Overall, I really enjoyed the trip and I won't hesitate to use the same company again.Show more

44 day Mexico to Panama. Only 1 or 2 overnight stops, everywhere else 2-3, travel days were mostly short around 4-5 hours average. Guide was excellent in recommending activity centers and restaurants (where he got no commission or free food that I could see, just an honest recommendation), helping learn Spanish and arranging nights out. Accommodation was mainly basic, simple twin rooms and most had 2 double beds, all of them had ensuites and some had free air con, others it was an expensive payable extra (All had fans which were good enough). Some hotels like Roatan and Boquete were amazing. Tour was alot of beach destinations with similar snorkeling/scuba/day trip options which is no surprise. Most unique tour locations were in the mainland revolving around ancient ruins (Tikal was my favourite), jungle activities like zip lining, bungee jumping, atv's etc. and scenery/wildlife tours. Private transport 90% of the time with occasional public buses which were fine as well (guide gave us cheap option to upgrade to private buses on these legs). Private buses were on the smaller side but even as a 6'4 guy I was ok with most having more than the 16 passenger seats required. Food started off heavily Mexican but once away from first couple of countries there was alot more variety. Basic food from $4 to $7, expensive up to $12-$15. Beer from $1 to $3 depending how toursity the area. Some place charged more for sift drink than beer. If you want a party place this tour might not be it, while some large palces (Cancun, Playa, San Jose) have places open all night, alot of the smaller places you go to the town is bascially dead by 10 or 11 and the hotels either dont have bars or dont want you making noise. If you like other substances they ARE everywhere, weed from $5 to $12 a gram, more in cities, less rural. Nobody cared and alot of people did it openly at bars in small towns. Weather was harm and humid every day and that was at the end of the summer season. Only need 1 pair of pants, 1 jumper for occasional stops in mountain places, everywhere else singlets and shorts are fine with no dress code at any bar even in the cites (except Panama City). As a German citizen do I need a visa for some of those countries or is everything included by the organizer. So I have to make sure to have a visa for each of these countries

  I have some questions about safety while visiting these countries. Is our safety guaranteed while visiting these countries and did female travelers experience any problems while visiting? What happens if I get robbed? Are we accompanied all the time during the travel? I'd prefer not to be on my own.

  Your group leader or local representative will accompany you on all included activities. While travelling there is always the risk of pick-pocketing and petty theft, particularly in more touristy cities. We recommend exercising caution when walking alone at night and encourage you to walk together and only on main, well-lit thoroughfares. Be particularly vigilant on public transport. Simple measures like carrying your day pack on your front, not hanging your bag over the back of your chair or on the floor and wearing a money belt will reduce any chance that your valuables should go missing.

  To save you money and the hassle of booking multiple trips, this journey is a combination of some of our most popular adventures. Your leader and the composition of your group may change with the start of each adventure. I have listed the demographics below for the different sections of the tour: Playa del Carmen to Antigua: 2 travellers, travelling in a pair, in their 30s. Antigua - San Jose: 10 travellers, 2 of which are solo, ages ranging from early 20s to 50s, majority in their 30s. San Jose to Panama City: 1 solo traveller in their 20s. Meals Included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner. To give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule, our groups tend to eat dinner together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There's no obligation to do this though.

  For this tour there are only 3 meals included in the price. Dinner is included on day 13 with your homestay, along with breakfast the next morning. Lunch is included on day 21 when you experience a local Salvadoran Pupusa cooking demonstration. For this trip we do recommend between 25 to 50USD per day for additional food.

How are you handling unvaccinated travelers who wish to take this trip? Is vaccinated required to take this tour? Or negative PCR will suffice when entering these Central American countries?

  All our trips require passengers to be fully vaccinated (unless in rare cases they have a medical exemption). Any entry/exit/visa requirements we recommend checking with the country's embassy/consulate as we are unable to advise, however any PCR testing before entering each country the guide can help arrange (at the passengers own expense) you just have to let them know in advance.

  April is the last month of dry weather across much of the region of Central America, April sees Mexico's towns and cities warm up, making it a great time to visit the hot and sunny Yucatán Peninsula. Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala and Nicaragua are all hot and dry. South America is a little harder to say as you'll be travelling through more than one seasons and the length of the continent of South America can mean very different weather between the top to the bottom.

  Fantastic choice with that trip! Flight costs would depend on where you're flying from and dates. I've checked for 28th of May until 11th July 2022 and found flights from London Heathrow to Cancun and from Panama City back to London Heathrow for about 600£. For spending money, we recommend between USD 25 to 50 per day. Breakfast might cost USD5 to USD10, lunch USD5 to USD15, and dinner USD12 to USD25 for a main course.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before October 4th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after October 4th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Intrepid Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
