14 Days in Central America, incl. Playa del Carmen and San Jose
A 33-day route through 7 countries and 16 cities awaits. From Mexican beaches to Costa Rican cloud forests, highlights include Tikal ruins, Caye Caulker's reef, and Granada's colonial charm. Travel time averages 4-5 hours between destinations.

- Days 1-3
Playa del Carmen & Riviera Maya, Mexico
Start your journey in the vibrant beach town of Playa del Carmen. Visit Cenote Azul in the early morning to beat the crowds. "The water is clearest before 10 AM and the natural light streaming in makes for incredible photos." Take a day trip to Tulum's ruins by local bus (1.5 hours). Look for accommodation near 5th Avenue to be close to restaurants and transport.

- Days 4-5
Caye Caulker, Belize
Take an early water taxi from Belize City to this relaxed Caribbean island. "Swimming with nurse sharks and rays at Hol Chan Marine Reserve was the highlight of my trip," according to a TourRadar reviewer. Stay safe by avoiding swimming in the Split area between north and south islands because of crocodiles. Local tip: Get the famous lobster between June 15-February 15. It's cheaper than other destinations but still the most expensive local dish.

- Days 6-7
San Ignacio, Belize
- Days 8-9
Antigua, Guatemala
Plan to arrive in Antigua before noon to avoid Guatemala City traffic. Book a hotel in the historical center near Parque Central for convenience. "Book afternoon walking tours to avoid the intense morning sun reflecting off the cobblestones," suggests a recent visitor. Get your Santa Catalina Arch photos early before crowds gather.

- Days 10-11
Lake Atitlan, Guatemala
- Days 12-14
Monteverde & San Jose, Costa Rica
Plan 6-7 hours for border crossing and travel to Monteverde. Schedule cloud forest tours for early morning when animals are active and before rain hits. "The hanging bridges get very slippery when wet—bring shoes with good grip," warns a past visitor. Finish in San Jose near the National Museum for easy airport access.

32 Day Central America Itinerary, incl. Mexico and Costa Rica
The 32-day route visits 16 cities across 7 Latin American countries. Notable stops include UNESCO's Tikal ruins, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and Monteverde Cloud Forest. Accommodations vary between hostels and homestays from Playa del Carmen to San José.

- Days 1-2
Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Start in this lively beach town. Take local buses to the cenotes for just 40 pesos. One traveler shared: "Taking the local buses to the cenotes for just 40 pesos was super easy and way better value than organized tours." Visit Tulum ruins before 9am to avoid crowds and heat. The ADO bus from Cancún airport runs every 30 minutes and costs about $10 USD.

- Days 3-5
Caye Caulker, Belize
Take a 4-hour first-class bus and 3-hour local bus to reach this relaxed Caribbean island. Go snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve. A recent visitor said: "Swimming with nurse sharks, rays and sea turtles was absolutely amazing." The island is car-free. You'll find only bikes and golf carts. Water taxis to the mainland cost around $15 USD.

- Days 6-7
San Ignacio, Belize
- Days 8-9
Flores & Rio Dulce, Guatemala
- Days 10-12
Antigua Guatemala
- Days 13-15
Lake Atitlán Region

The route runs from Bacalar's seven-colored lake to Chichicastenango's huge outdoor market, Latin America's biggest weekly gathering for textiles. What people love about 1-month+ Latin America tours
- Central American Adventure
In overall I enjoyed my 32 days Central America Tour. It took me to the places I would never make on my own without knowing Spanish. It is a well organized tour with professional tour leaders. My group had a variety of people from 18-66 yo, we had from 9-16 people on different part of tours. Mostly from Australia, Europe and Canada. All professional. It was few hiccups between the group members, nothing that you would not expect within any group of people. If you are not a people person, or you need to be alone sometimes to regenerate, ask for a single supplement to avoid these issues. And have FUN!
