February centers around Carnival celebrations throughout Portugal. The streets of Torres Vedras near Lisbon and Ovar near Porto come alive with parades floats and traditional festivities. In Lazarim locals continue the centuries-old tradition of hand-carved wooden masks. Hotels like the Sana Malhoa in Lisbon organize special carnival events that let visitors experience local traditions up close.

What are the best regions to visit in Portugal during February?

Porto and the Douro Valley offer excellent wine tasting opportunities and cultural experiences. The Alentejo region presents comfortable conditions for exploring medieval towns like Évora. How crowded are tourist attractions in Portugal during February?

February visitors benefit from minimal crowds at major sites. The Tower of Belém Pena Palace and St. George's Castle see significantly reduced wait times. Popular spots like Porto's Clerigos Tower welcome visitors without the usual summer queues.
