Tours were very good and full itinerary. They did not skimp on time you had. The leaders were also very nice, knowledgeable and did not rush you. That made a big difference to us. The only thing that happened was we missed our first day tour due to a communication mess up. It was originally a free day but changed to a tour day. It was too late for us to know but the tour company did their best to make up for it.

I was pleasantly surprised by how efficient the whole tour was. We were picked up at the airports even when our flights were delayed. The tour guides were punctual, fun, knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. The itinerary was mind boggling - seeing Ocras whale watching, visiting a tea plantation, viewing incredible scenery from mountains, Valleys and volcanic craters of every kind. There was unlimited seafood and the locals were warm and welcoming.

I had an absolutely wonderful week enjoying Maderia's nature and culture. Joao was an incredible guide - so knowledgeable, accommodating, kind and patient the entire week. All the walks were beautiful and there was a nice balance of physical activity and down time. I felt very comfortable as a female solo traveler and really enjoyed the time we spent in nature. Two things to note - the airport transfers are included; however, I waited over an hour when I arrived only to realize that I had to wait for other group members to land. It would have been appreciated if this was communicated to me beforehand. Explore responded immediately via WhatsApp but failed to mention that I would need to wait for as long as I did. Secondly, Hotel do Carmo (the last hotel we stayed in) is undergoing extensive construction which iwas incredibly loud (throughout the entire day). Overall, I would highly recommend, especially if you can get Joao as your guide!
