  • F

    Fiona

    Asked on August 3rd, 2026

How hard are the hikes and walks?

    Tour Details
    • Explore!OperatorWritten August 2026

We've graded the walks on this trip as Moderate and you should have a good level of fitness to fully enjoy the activities.

There are walks included on five days of the itinerary. You can expect to walk 10-13km per day - Approximately 5 hours per day, depending on the pace of the group.

The walks are mainly along levadas (stone waterways) and ancient paths which are generally easy and flat. There will be some short sections of incline, some stone stepped sections, and small tunnels.

It is important to note that there are a few sections with drop offs to the side without railing protection - this can be difficult for travellers with vertigo (these are marked in the daily itinerary and can easily be skipped).

Are there any departures in June or July for walking in Madeira?

    Price / Availability

We do have departures running in June but none in July:

      On request
      2 spaces available

      Sat 13 Jun 2026 - Sat 20 Jun 2026
      On request

      Sat 20 Jun 2026 - Sat 27 Jun 2026

Looking for combined tour in Azores and Madeira. Easy to moderate walking in the least rainy season. When is the least rain/windy season and still off high season?

    Tour Details
    • Explore!OperatorWritten September 2025

May is still off season and less busy. The Azores in May are cooler, greener, and more changeable, while Madeira is warmer, sunnier, and drier. We have Walking the Azores Trip code AZ 02-15 May, 2026 then Walking in Madeira code TM 16-23 May departure.

Our transfer policy is due to your flight time. If your flight is to arrive on day 1 of the tour and your flight departs on day 8 of the tour you will be provided complimentary transfers. In terms of VISA's we can send you our accommodation list which is what the EU require as per your invitation letter.
