  Thought we would meet tour organized on the first day at dinner. Turns out, we never met a tour organizer. Every day there was a different driver/guide, but I would say they were very knowledgeable and accommodating. One day was lost in the trip from US to Portugal. One day was lost on the trip from Lisbon to Porto. One day was lost in the trip back home. This was really only a 4-5 day vacation, not a 7 day vacation. Best improvement would be to make this a 9 day excursion to account for travel days.Show more

  This tour had the potential to be a five-plus star tour. First, the itinerary was perfect to see the highlights of both Lisbon and Porto. Second, the hotels and transfers were absolutely perfect. The choice of the boutique hotels and the professionalism of the drivers were top-notch. The city day tours were an excellent mix of the best things to do in Lisbon and Porto. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOURS Day 1 - Fado Dinner. This would have been excellent had the reservations been made for the correct day. The restaurant was totally booked and they were not able to accommodate me. By my own ingenuity, I was able to "tip" the maitre d' and they were able to add a table in the back and squeeze me in for the show. I enjoyed the show, and the tour company refunded their cost of the show, not my actual costs. This was not really an acceptable solution or fair compensation for a total screw-up. Rating: 1 Star. Day 2 - Excellent walking tour / ferry ride / lunch around Lisbon provided by Maria. One of the best tours I have ever experienced. Rating: 5 Stars. Day 3 - Day trip to Cascais and Sintra. Again, the reservation was totally messed up and the driver never showed up to meet me. After many stressful hours of working with the tour company, they sent an Uber for me and I was able to meet up with another group for the second half of the day tour. I enjoyed the tour of Sintra and the castles, but NO compensation for the missed half day was offered. Rating: 1 Star. Day 4 - Train ride to Porto and free day in Porto. The suggestions provided by the tour company were excellent, and I enjoyed the time exploring Porto on my own. Day 5 - Porto walking tour / boat ride. The walking tour of Porto was terrible, as it had 16 people on the tour and it was in Spanish and English. I was under the impression that all the tours would be small (no more than eight people) and always in English. This was unacceptable as the tour guide spent half of the tour talking to the Spanish-speaking people. Rating: 1 Star. The ride on the river in the afternoon was very enjoyable. Rating: 5 Stars. Day 6 - All day tour of Douro Valley and boat ride on the river. Bruno was an excellent guide and this day was probably the high point of my week. Rating: 5 Stars. So all in all, the parts of the tour that were executed properly were all 5-Star. There were too many total screw-ups to forgive, and proper compensation was not offered. So this tour could have easily been a five-plus star tour, but sadly, I can only give it three stars.Show more

  FANTASTIC TRIP!!! It was such a wonderful, stress-free, seamless, and great vacation experience. We cannot thank Portugal Travel Center and Daniela in particular, for all the expertise and professionalism on their behalf to plan and execute such a great trip for us! It was the perfect blend of historical, cultural, and scenic beauty. We added on the Azores, for a total of 13 days. The drivers and guides, including Hugo, George, Marsio, Alex, Manuel, Felipe, Rasmus, Riccardo, and any others who were with us, were so knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and passionate about their amazing Portugal. They were a joy to be with! The activities Portugal Travel Center arranged for us such as the tours, lunches, wine experiences, dinners, fado music show, cooking lesson, boat cruise, tea and pineapple plantations, and all the guided city and scenic tours were beyond our expectations. We could not have asked for more, nor would we have seen so much on our own! The hotel accommodations were great, varied in location and surroundings, and all were perfect for our trip. Thanks also need to be expressed for the stress free airline flight from Porto to Ponte Delgado, including taking care of our baggage fees ahead of our departure and all the transfers to and from the airports. We truly appreciated all the time Daniela and PTC took to answer ALL of our questions and concerns and to help us plan an itinerary that was exactly what we wanted! I exchanged nearly 30 emails, in addition to several calls, with Daniela about itineraries, things to experience, etc., as I was a bit nervous about dealing with a travel agency outside the United States. She, and all the staff at PTC, were kind, professional, and very informative in all exchanges. We are hoping to explore more of Portugal with their help, in the future, such as Madeira and more islands of the Azores. We will be telling all our friends and family about Portugal Travel Center and how great our experience was!Show more

  It was a great trip but the tour company made 4 mistakes in 6 days which is a lot. First they had the wrong date on the Fado show. When we got to the restaurant, the restaurant told us the reservation was for the previous day. The restaurant was very accommodating and created a table for a large group of 7 of us and let us in as they knew it was not our fault. Second was when our ride did not show up to pick us up at Porto and when we called the number that was given to call we were told there was no reservation for pick us up. Then we got to the hotel and we were supposed to have 2 double and 1 triple room but we had 3 doubles. It took 1.5 hr to check in and multiple phone calls. The tour company eventually reimbursed us for the ride and got us an extra room but it was a bad experience and we were tired and not we had signed up for. Lastly, our ride to the airport didn’t show up in the morning despite confirming the day before. We were reimbursed again but overall too many problems. The local guides were great.Show more
