Enjoyable fortnight. Made up as a combination of 2 intrepid trips. First week best for culture, second week best for safari, particularly the serengeti. Saw all of the big 5, though in the masai mara I did not really think the truck used for the game drive was suitable. Guide was good, food was decent, lots of carrots. Only real other negative was having to travel back to nairobi in the middle of the trip, then pretty much the same way back the next day. Seemed like 2 wasted days.

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions about this tour.

  • October 1, 2016

What does a campsite with basic facilities refer to?

Campsites do have facilities but they usually aren't the same standard you would find in western countries. For example the bathroom facilities can be very basic (the toilets may be a squat-style hole in the ground). There is rarely toilet paper provided and shower facilities can be as simple as a hose pipe spurting out cold water. Wild camps have no facilities at all.
