Victoria Falls
You'll land in Victoria Falls and get settled at the centrally located campground. Around 4 pm, you'll meet your tour leader and the rest of the group for an introductory meeting. After that, head over to a local activity centre to check out what's available for tomorrow's activities.

Victoria Falls
This is your day to explore Victoria Falls on your own schedule. The waterfall stretches 1.5 km wide and drops 108 m into the gorge below. If you're here during wet season, spray rises up to 400 m high and creates quite a show. During dry season, you get clearer views of the falls and the river islands. Your tour leader's around if you want local suggestions.

Victoria Falls to Bulawayo
You'll leave Victoria Falls this morning and drive toward Bulawayo. Along the way, stop at Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust to learn about animal rescue and rehabilitation work. See recovered or orphaned animals and hear about efforts against poaching and human-wildlife conflict. Then continue to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second-largest city, known locally as the 'City of Kings' for its colonial architecture and history.

Bulawayo to Matobo National Park
Start early for a rhino tracking expedition in Matobo National Park with an expert guide. You'll track black and white rhinos on foot and keep an eye out for leopards, warthogs, and springhares. See wild pear and paperbark trees, San paintings, and rock formations. This area holds deep spiritual significance for local communities, with sites where ceremonies still happen today.

Landmarks Matobo National Park - Day 5
Matobo National Park to Masvingo
Head to Masvingo, Zimbabwe's oldest settlement, which serves as your base for the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. Spend a few hours at this UNESCO site, first built in the 11th century and thought to be an old royal palace. Later return to camp for the evening.

Masvingo to Harare
Drive to Harare and arrive by lunchtime. With just an hour or two to spare, you could visit the National Gallery, check out a museum, walk through the botanical gardens, or browse the colourful markets and city centre if you have the energy.

Harare to Lusaka
Cross into Zambia today on a scenic drive to the border. You'll reach your campsite just outside Lusaka. Along the way, stop at an ATM and shops or markets to pick up any supplies you need.

Lusaka to Petauke
Spend time exploring Lusaka before heading out for a long travel day. You'll notice it's a modern city but still holds traditional African character. After that, continue on to Petauke where you'll sleep for the night.

Petauke to South Luangwa National Park
After breakfast, visit a workshop in South Luangwa where local women craft jewellery from snare wire recovered from poaching traps. Watch them work and try your hand at coiling or hammering wire, knowing proceeds support anti-poaching patrols. Then head into South Luangwa National Park, where animal concentrations around the Luangwa River rank among Africa's highest. Expect elephants, buffalo, leopards, Thornicroft's giraffes, lions, and roughly 400 bird species.

Landmarks South Luangwa National Park - Day 10
South Luangwa National Park
Get up early, have a light breakfast, then take a 4WD game drive with a local guide. You'll return to camp for an early lunch. During the hottest afternoon hours, rest in the shade or join an optional village walk to see how the local community lives. Head back to the park for another game drive as the day cools.

South Luangwa to Lake Malawi
Cross into Malawi today and continue to your camp on Lake Malawi's shores. This lake covers almost a fifth of Malawi and is central to local life. You'll see fishermen in traditional dugout canoes, fish traders, and net makers working the waters. Your campsite at Kande Beach sits right on the shore, perfect for resting.

Lake Malawi
You have the full day free at Kande Beach. Jump in for a swim, explore by bike, or just relax on the sandy shore. If you want something more active, book an optional snorkelling trip to experience Lake Malawi's unique ecosystem. The high alkalinity supports bright coloured fish and creates a tropical ocean-like snorkelling experience in a freshwater lake.

Lake Malawi to Chitimba
Drive to Chitimba camp, located along Lake Malawi's coast with nice beaches, welcoming locals, and a relaxed vibe. When you arrive, take a stroll around to get to know this part of the lake and enjoy the view of banana palms, papaya trees, and the Livingstonia and Nyika mountains in the distance.

Chitimba to Tanzania Southern Highlands
Today's a long travel day into Tanzania's southern highlands. Sit back and watch the countryside unfold. When you arrive, set up camp on a farmhouse property surrounded by natural bushland, which is great for bird watching. Before bed, spend some time stargazing from this rural location.

Southern Highlands to Mikumi National Park
Drive to Mikumi National Park's edge, situated below the thick forests of the Uluguru Mountains. Tanzania's fourth-largest park, it holds large numbers of elephants, hippos, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, wildebeest, and impalas. In the afternoon, head out on a 4WD game drive with a local expert guide to explore this less crowded park.

- Day 16
Mikumi to Kipepo Beach
Drive south to Kipepo Beach, just outside Dar es Salaam. Take time to unwind when you arrive, perhaps walk along the shore. Your camp for the night sits on a hotel's grounds right next to the beach, giving you the chance to relax and swim in the ocean.

Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar
Catch a ferry to Zanzibar, Africa's 'Spice Island'. It has pristine white-sand beaches, winding cobblestone alleyways, and aromatic markets. The island's colourful history was shaped by slave traders, Arabian sultans, and fruit exporters. Walk through Stone Town's old city, checking out markets, shops, mosques, palaces, and courtyards. As the sun sets, grab a drink at a seafront bar or enjoy seafood curry at a local restaurant. Spend the night at a basic inn in Stone Town.

Zanzibar

After lunch, head to the Northern Beaches where white sand and clear blue seas are waiting.

Zanzibar to Bagamoyo
Welcome to Zanzibar! Your African adventure starts in Stone Town. Meet your tour leader and group at an 11 am welcome meeting at the hotel. After that, catch the ferry to Dar es Salaam, then board your overland vehicle to meet your driver and cook. Take the short drive to your camp at Bagamoyo by the beach.

Bagamoyo to Usambara Mountains
Travel into the remote Usambara Mountains, roughly 7 hours away. This unspoilt area sees very few tourists, so it's perfect for taking in your surroundings. The mountain forests are ideal for easy hikes and guided walks. Your base is Lushoto, an old German colony where you'll stay at one of Africa's earliest hotels.

Usambara Mountains
Explore the Usambara Mountains and experience the area's gentle hospitality. Hike to Irente viewpoint, bringing water and snacks for the day. On your way back, visit a local cultural project at Irente farm and have a locally prepared lunch there.

Usambara Mountains to Arusha
Leave the scenic Usambara Mountains and head to Arusha. There are no planned activities, but enjoy the drive through Tanzania's landscape as you head toward the gateway to the northern safari circuit. When you reach your campsite on Arusha's outskirts, unwind and rest for the adventures coming up.

Ngorongoro
After breakfast, head to Karatu, the gateway to Ngorongoro Crater. Hike through the reserve forest to Elephant Caves and Endoro waterfalls with an expert guide and armed ranger. These calcium-rich caves got their name because elephants break off rock pieces to eat for minerals. Your guide will point out animal tracks and bird life as you trek through rainforest. Then visit a local coffee farm to learn about farming practices and how locals grow coffee, beans, maize, banana, soya, and peas. Tonight, enjoy a traditional dinner with a local Tanzanian family in their home, where they'll cook several dishes and share cultural stories through a trained guide.

Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park
Wake early, pack into a six-person jeep, and head for the Serengeti via Ngorongoro Crater. Spend 3 to 4 hours on a crater safari watching for black rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants, impalas, zebras, and hippos. Then move to the Serengeti's open plains, which turn green after rains and brown during dry season. This is quintessential Africa, home to thousands of hoofed animals and fierce predators. Your campsite is within the Serengeti itself, so listen for nocturnal animals as you sleep.

Serengeti National Park
Rise at dawn for a game drive when animals are most active, then return for brunch around 11 am. Relax during the hot afternoon like the animals do, then head out again for a second game drive as the day cools. Or, if you've pre-booked a hot air balloon ride, you'll be picked up before dawn and driven to the launch site. After a safety briefing, glide sometimes at tree height for great photos, then enjoy a five-star bush breakfast before returning to camp.

Rise with the sun for another game drive as you leave the Serengeti. Get back in your overland vehicle and head to Mto wa Mbu. After setting up camp, take a guided walk through farming areas, local homes, and farmlands to meet the community and learn their way of life. Later, enjoy a locally prepared dinner in town.
