You'll arrive at Cape Town Airport and get transferred to your hotel. Your guide meets you at 1 pm, then you're heading up Table Mountain for a hike with views out over the city and the Atlantic Ocean, depending on weather. You'll be staying for 2 nights to settle in.

Cape Peninsula
Today you're checking out the Cape Peninsula, visiting Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point where the coastal scenery is really something. The drive covers about 180 km. By evening you'll reach the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where you can grab dinner on your own.

Cape Town to Springbok
You'll drive north through the Swartland and Namaqualand along the west coast, passing through everything from open deserts to dramatic Cederberg mountain rock formations. In spring, wildflowers put on quite a show here. The drive's about 570 km and ends in Springbok, a small town in the Namaqua Desert.

Springbok to Orange River
After crossing into Namibia, you'll reach the Orange River base camp about 140 km away. The river cuts through dramatic desert and Richtersveld National Park mountains. If you're on the camping tour, you get a briefing and then paddle downstream in canoes past twisted rock formations. If you're staying in accommodations, you'll have free time to explore the area.

Fish River Canyon / Orange River
Camping tour guests travel about 185 km to Fish River Canyon, which is the world's second largest canyon at roughly 160 km long and formed over hundreds of millions of years. Namib Rand Nature Reserve
Camping guests drive via a panoramic road through red dune fields and dramatic rock formations, about 360-365 km total, to reach Namib Rand Nature Reserve. Accommodated guests explore the Fish River Canyon rim first, then head to the same 7,000-hectare private reserve. You're staying 2 nights here with time to see desert plants and animals that thrive in this harsh environment.

In the morning there's a guided walk where you'll learn about the desert's geology and ecology. After that, you can relax at camp with a cold drink or wander around the rock formations for bird watching. In the afternoon, an open vehicle game drive looks for spareribs and bat-eared foxes. Later, enjoy sunset drinks and possibly see nocturnal animals like porcupines, aardvarks, and black-backed hyenas on the return, about 20 km total.

You're starting early to drive about 360-365 km to the famous Sossusvlei dunes. You'll climb one of the towering dunes for views, then explore in an open four-wheel drive into Sossusvlei and Deadvlei on foot, seeing the red dunes, white salt pan, and otherworldly landscape. There's also a stop at Sesriem Canyon, a huge gorge formed over thousands of years.

Swakopmund

After that, you arrive in Swakopmund, a coastal town founded in 1892 with German colonial architecture, history, and cuisine still evident everywhere. You'll reach your lodge in the afternoon and stay for 2 nights.

You're traveling along the Atlantic coast to Cape Cross seal colony, about 300-335 km. Camping guests continue inland through desert to Spitzkoppe, an imposing 600m granite mountain with huge rocks and secret caves to explore in the afternoon. Accommodated guests visit Cape Cross Seal Island, drive through desert to the towering granite Brandberg peaks, and take a guided walk to see the Bushmen's White Lady paintings.
